9 months wait for Batang Ai?
What is nine month wait without ADUN service? At least we know that the ADUN is sick and now has died due to his illness. May we pray and blessed his soul and peace and comfort for his family.
There are many areas in Sarawak that has not been visited and service by their ADUN because they are busy playing golf and seeking business opportunities to earn their commission.
45 years wait
Like many areas of Sarawak, Batang Ai waited 45 years for progress to come – did it comes? Yes, the Batang Ai dam but still many long houses are without electricity and clean water.
Yes, Batang Ai has a resort managed by Hilton – the Batang Ai Hilton. Local benefited very little from employment as it is a small setup. What about local providing services for incoming tourist – very little too as they are not assisted and have no capital to invest in providing quality services for tourist. The hotel have to take the larger part of the responsibility to provide the conveniences of visitors.
Any other development?
The road are bad in most areas except those that are plied by tourist.
Salcra fail to help Dayak
The socio-economic standing of Dayak Iban in the area is weak. SALCRA is not successful as a platform to eradicate poverty. However, SALCRA is very efficient in performing “political services” to BN.
Agriculture is still lagging in productivity
What other agricultural development – to improve the cash stream income and food of people of Batang Ai? The Ministry of Rural Development and Agriculture has nothing much to shout about. Inland fresh water fisheries from the dam is very limited and has not even reach the capability of supplying regular fish to local market.
The rubber small holding is “old” as no new replanting of new trees were carried out.
Poverty Eradication – failed badly
The fact is, the government approach to poverty eradication is to provide employment to local Dayak Iban at a daily wages of RM$8-12.00 per day. does that earning help them to achieve the Poverty Line Index of RM $800.00.
Police Complex
a RM$52 million police complex in Lubok Antu. How will that benefit the people? The police complex is to support the government decision to make Lubok Antu te main gateway into and out of Malaysia from Kalimantan Indonesia. The contractor may make some money but nothing is for the local people.
Why the voters for BN?
This is not unique to Batang Ai alone. The BN government keep the people poor for ease of control. The people cannot think of their tomorrow and instead focus on getting three square meals a day.
Low Spending Power
The town of Lubok Antu is perpetually sleepy as the spending power of Lubok Antu people are very low. The services they got from the business are therefor next to nothing as business could barely survive.
BN Tactics
Come election, BN will bring the MINOR RURAL PROJECT allocation of zinc roofing sheet, some plywood, fire extinguishers etc and for these crumbs the Dayak voted for BN. To sweeten the offer BN usually give money to voters with anything that range from $10.00 -$50.00. It is pathetic but true.
BN reward local leaders by appointing them as community leaders
The Federal Government help to pay Tuai Rumah (Ketua Kampong) $450-500.00 per month. This princely sum allow the BN party members to dictate term to the Tuai Rumah and even punish them if they do not tow the BN line. The Tuai Rumah responsibility is also being politicize by BN by controlling the registration and eligibility of a Tuai Rumah from receiving the monthly allowance.
Penghulu / Councilors Post as Reward
A bigger carrot is dangled for other leaders – to be appointed a Penghulu for the community which is under the purview of the Rural Ministry under the Chief Minister office. To be appointed a Penghulu is a big prize for the local leaders. It makes them look important but is not as effective as before. Why – these are political appointees with contract subjected to renewal annually. If you do not follow BN line, they will terminate your service.
Politician Penghulu
In the Dayak organization, A Penghulu is a man who is responsible to look after the community interest, Dayak adat, culture and representing their interest in interaction with those outside the community. All these has change and the Penghulu is most of the time a “politician” of BN.
Conclusion
Since it is going to be by election time those of you readers who are skeptical of the bad road in batang Ai / Lubok Antu please feel free and take a drive around the area. Batang Ai waited 45 years for something materialize through electing BN government. they got negligible return for the trust and believes in BN.
Now is time enough to make the change. Nine months without ADUN service, Batang Ai did not even made a whisper of the issue. The Taib BN control is almost TOTAL. The control is not for the better but for worst.
Batang Ai- stand up and be counted as the modern day fighter for justice, against tyranny, bring down power abuse, curtail the corruption and enrichment of elites using Sarawak natural resources.
Sarawak a country that is so rich and is now the fourth least develop State in Malaysia. WHY?
Sarawak BN leadership is rotten to the bone.

During my one time visit to Lubok Antu, I was told the current medical clinic has been many time repaired and repaired and re-painted only. The same old building and the talk-about ” new hospital” still in the sky
Very sad and sorry indeed for the people of Lubok Antu, because majority of you are Iban. You are less taken care by BN Sarawak and your own YB YBs
Very appropriate elaboration by Dr. Brian and as a Tuai Rumah (not appointed yet), I can feel the coniditions in Lubok Antu to be similar Iban majority areas in Sarawak under the rule of BN and Taib
For the by election, and sure to be deployed by BN, we all Tuai Rumah will be sent down to Kuching, hair washed and brain washed, plus some sagu-hati. We might go for a hair cut, head and body massage, feeling all refreshed due to gracious enertainment by BN. Last, go back and tell our folks “kitai patut ngundi BN” and why we should know too much about development and future

1. Why L/A has been well known for stolen vehicles exit point from Sarawak?
2. No upgarding in water supply service in respect to pu[opulation growth in the area
3. Frequent interrupted electric power supply which sees not improvement over the year. What has BN government dealth with those complaints?
4. Why and how L/A became an area to legalize the stolen woods from Kalimantan Indonesia?
5. Many others

I have few advices for you. I’m a PKR member from the peninsular who knows nothing from Sarawak. But at least we can share some important issues concerning the by-election.
1. Set up a blogging group that will cover the by-election just like we did for Permatang Pauh and Kuala Terengganu. This will make the rest of the nation follow your blogs and will also deny the enemy to manipulate the situation. Furthermore, by having an effective blogging team solely for the by-election, you will influence many people who in turn will influence others. It is called opinion shaping.
2. The team must have cameras to take photos and must upload them daily. Concentrate on the following:
a) Poverty in Sarawak and in Lubok and Batang Ai.
b) Poor housing
c) Poor roads
d) Poor drainage
e) Poor development
f) Unemployment
g) Insecurity
h) Inequality
j) Wealth difference between the poor and the rich. Use photos to explain this like PR bloggers did for KT.
k) Transportation. Take lively photos of BN leaders’s cars, helicopters and etc and juxtapose the poor transportation system of Batang Ai and the bicycles of the poor voters.
l) Have a data on all the above issues so that when BN leaders tell the voters of this and that, you repudiate it immediately and also share with peninsular Malaysians who are following the by-election just like in P.Pauh and KT.
m) Broken promises
n) Subjugation, divide and rule and disunity
o) Land grabbing and cronyism
p) Dams and displacement
q) Failed agriculture
r) Failed leadership
s) Sarawak’s backwardness and selective development
t) Failure of the health system and the un-affordability of treatment by the poor in Sarawak
Important Note:
All the above issues must be covered and carried out daily with photos and relevant pics for wider viewings and also awakening. Then distribute them to the uneducated voters and upload them in your blogs on daily basis for others to read, comment and know as well.
If you aren’t ready to fight like we did in P.Pauh and KT, then you will lose. Spend sleepless nights to deliver and save your Sarawak and move on to a new era where you decide your destiny. Don’t wait for outside help but act NOW and do something drastic. Peninsular bloggers can’t come to Batang Ai due to distance and the need for the two Bukits in Perak and Kedah, plus we are preparing for a showdown in Perak where we want to oust the illegal Umno MB and bring back our legitimate MB Mohd Nizar, though hopefully he will come to campaign in Batang Ai. By April, Pakatan will rule Perak again. Make no mistake about it.

We have terrified the enemy so much so that Umno can’t face PKR and PAS for Malay vote yet yesterday they were bragging that they are the sole representatives of the Malay people. why we have to wait for another empty promise by nyumbuh buban and cronies..that “every one in Sarawak will benefit from score…blabla..” everyone in Sarawak will kayaraya..blabla..”..thats what our aki ini in ulu sungai listen trough radio bcose..since 1963..only radio is BN tools to spread propaganda till today..since no internet, for them listen, read from another side of wall..we should realise this is fact..that we must prevent the lies news reach our interior..must change..

1.Kemungkinan BN ngena calon BEBAS ngacau undi PR.BN sedar sida enda relevan ba srwk.Boleh jadi sida ngena nama calon BEBAS kena ngacau undi.Enti calon BEBAS tu ila menang calon BN alah sida ia ulih meli calon BEBAS tu masuk BN.Nya alai selidik calon BEBAS ke enggau bepilih.Ngambi ke rayat enda ngundi sida.
2.Canidate PR tulung berati-ati maya kimpin.Kita nemu polis,akim,spr,media masa semua dikontrol BN.Taib empu bisi secret relation enggau TYT.boleh jadi ia manipulasi badan tu kena nangkap canidate PR tepu dlm ISA.Ingat senario politik ba menua kitai baka ke udah.

Pliz note that Batang Ai is a rural area that needs extra input and also one that needs extra transportation arrangement. Taib Mahnuk will book all the gas stations plus all the strategic places in order to deny PKR and PR any chance and also to cripple their logistics. So, do something and inform the Sarawak PKR leadership the need to book some gas stations and also avail some boats for the villages and have many bikes to transport the voters on polling day and use now for reaching the voters. Sarawak PKR leaders should inform DSAI and other PKR leaders of the need for this now so that you aren’t taken by surprise and get humiliated.

Lubok Antu will be like it has been if even PR-PKR wins N29 Batang Ai, UNLESS, the momemtum and spirit is carried on to the rest of the state sweeping like a tsunami.
This by-election is the kick-off of the game. You know how BN would victimize a constituency if it voted and denied BN in the past when Lubok Antu had once been the victim. So total wipe out BN from the state is the final goal and target.
In this context, we appeal to all voters in N29, Iban, Chinese, Malay and all, farmers, teachers, businessmen and women, employed, self-employed or un-employed, government, non-government, and all faiths, come forward and mark your ballots for PR=PKR. And for us Ibans, our relatives across the border will also cheer to give us moral and spiritual support.

Subject: RM52 Million New L/A Police Complex
We should thank the person in the government who agreed to grant the project for the subject building.
The complex shall house more personnel and adminstrative ability including sufficient surveillance of border security and residential safety in the area. It is, therefore, in a long run, a good planning for the future growth of the district.
With such facility in place, we hope also the Police would take a step forward to carry out duty and responsibility committedly and dilegently. By saying this, I do not intend to explain that they are not doing good, but there are areas of improvement
This by-election again, we hope Police would be executing their just and trusted assurance to a peaceful plus procedural balloting

The representation of the rakyat or popularly known as(YB)sometime does not have the say on the development in his/her area because the person at the helm like Taip has the final say. Now he is cncentrating on SCORE (the Melanau areas)and neglecting the rural areas and among them is Lubok Antu.If they really want to develop LA they should have given much alocation before this election. Jawah, please strive for excellence for the people of LA.Fight for them to tackle their problems such as electricity, lands and roads linking longhouses in the area.
