Batang Ai Voters Survey result today

Today being Saturday, many Batang Ai voters are in town to mind their own business. A team of independent pollster carried out voters survey, asking voters who would they vote for in the coming by-election.

Method

This poll is taken around the town of Lubok Antu and the pollsters take pain to avoid (1) repeat sample (2) verify real voters in Batang Ai. The sample are not taken by areas/polling station. It is based on encounters with voters and aided with a pre-question

are you from Batang Ai and which area
are you a registered voter
which party will you vote for in the coming by election
have you been asked this question before (to eliminate repeat sample)

The sample quantity is 311 is therefor not representative of the total voting trend. The sample quantity is limited only because there is no more respondent to add to the sample.

The result of this poll is at best indicative. of those around Lubok Antu town today. The accuracy cannot be quantified or verified.

BN 31.8%

Undecided 5%

Conclusion

There are many other factors not taken into account in this voters survey. A pool will be conducted every 3 days to measure the voting trend. Instant noodles – “outsider visit” – Jabu-Masing influence – candidate lineup – money handsout can influence the trend dramatically as seen ever so often in Sarawak ( last minute swing).

Latest information….Jelaing and Sharir will be in Lubok Antu tomorrow 22.3.09 to give cash rebates to the owners of outboard engines.

I suggest your teams spend a trip or two to the Ulu Batang Ai and Ulu Engkari, you will find more surprising results…(too many unanswered questions and problems left behind unattended by PRS who busy handling in-party factional fighting led by Dr.James Masing)
Many prominentlt BN stronghold voting stations are in the collapse, why? Please ask voters themselves. Though BN is sending “handy-plus” first aid bandages every where by every means, Jabu is always regarded traitor and enemy to many Batang Ai N29 folks. Check the ground emotion, though that man now come distributing candies and chocolates to N29 people, as a Iban, he has many things not yet answered to us Ibans.

Keep all MACC men busy on campaigning and voting days, let them see how clean BN has been.

If N29 people, Iban majority + Chinese + Malays stick to their current new mind sets, BN can win by very slim chances BUT possible of loosing by a remarkable big majority

N29 has good records of BN men entrusted with distribution of vote buying money turn out pocketing those Ringgit, and after election some of them start to spend those new notes including in the local cock-fighting pits …haha

Bedau lama tu tadi ba ruang komen aku dah madah pasal kaban aku ka madah 65 % pengundi deka nyukung PKR bepilih tu ila..(kurang lebih % baka ka disebut/ditulis DR JB). Kaban aku ba BA nya mega madah peratus tu dipelaba deka mansang agi maya kimpen . Diatu mega bala di BA madah “Empa mee segera tang tetap ngundi PKR).

Agi tusah kitai ngarapka servei tu lalu anang nyimpan diri kitai ba comfort zone. We have to work hard. We are still underdog for this election. Maioh agi utai ke dikira kitai. Be_End bisi RM, Radio/TV, transportaion (bilun) tambah agi agensi perintah lalu pia mega mentality pengundi enggau diatu kitai bisi pengari ngatika diri ke tau mechahka undi Dayak. As I wrote before we better analyse our strength and weakness. We also need to know our opportunities and what are our threads. Set our strategy and march to victory.

Dont know him, but I knew that he lost to BN on SNAP ticket during the last election. Might be closed to Johnical Rayong. If he cant bring Rayong to join PKR, what advantage we got if we ask him to stand on PKR ticket?

I would say Nicholas is the best candidate if he can prove to Ibans that he has the influence to recruit more SNAP members and of course Rayong must declare his stance to join PKR.

Perhaps, Dr. John Brian can come to the rescue. Now is the best time for him to exhibit and prove his political diplomacy in bringing more opposition splinter groups to join PKR. Could he bring his former ally Rayong to join PKR?

Why Johnny Chuat the best candidate to stand on PKR ticket? There are few criteria/ reasons, among them are:
1. We want to make changes. What changes? We want to replace the old horses ke bepikir self-interest baka Rayong. Nicholas is old horse, mesti pemikiran sama enggau Rayong & Dr. JJM. In fact, I should suggest that non of ex PBDS YBs allow to contest on PKR ticket. Udah peda empa, not walking to the talk!

2. We said dayakbaru. Then we should encourage the young blood to become our representatives in ADUN and MP. Urang nembiak berani agi bejaku, jauh agi perening, lubah makai suap.

3. Johnny maioh kaul enggau nembiak rebak baru; bala intellectuals ukai ba Malaysia aja tang ba seluruh sukut dunya, sapa enda nemu Johnny through PIP & ruaikitai.com

4. Personal relations. Johnny senang begulai enggau nembiak pupu bansa, selalu ngaga aum ba rumah iya empu di Bintulu & ba rumah panjai iya ba Lemanak

5. Nyadi YB, bini/anak mesti ka siru enggau rayat. Enti kitai meda kaul Johnny enggau bala raban kitai dayak, dia kitai merati ke bini iya cukup siru enggau semua rayat ke bisi ngenatai ke diri ngagai rumah iya. Iya mega senang bekaul enggau bansa Cina & Laut.

Things consider in nomination race.
Top three qualities:
1) Well-known in the riding

Nothing beats the advantage of already being well-known (in a positive way) to voters. That’s why all parties compete to recruite “star” candidates. If people already know & respect your candidate, half your job is done (allowing you to put twice as much effort into the other half). It also gives you a head start on fundraising & team building, better media access, etc. Examples are current or former municipal councillors, former MP/DUN from another party (or independent), CEO of a big organization (hospital, college, major employer), media figure, etc.

2) Team-builder
A strong candidate with a strong team will win. A weak candidate with a strong team may win. A strong candidate with a weak team will lose.
It is impossible for any candidate to engage with every voter personally, but an effective team CAN reach virtually all voters. We actually already have enough potential support based on our image, policy, and leader to win ridings – if all our supporters voted for us. A team who can activate those existing supporters is more important than a candidate who can sway new voters (but can’t get them to the polls). A candidate who can attract voters is good, but a candidate who can attract volunteers is better.

3) Charismatic communicator
Should be able to communicate well – speak convincingly, sincerely, and with humour, listen well. Good at explaining policy clearly & concisely (and with passion) and responding well to questions.

Amat runggu enti terbai apus ga sungai. Hmmmmmm….asai ke kala sepi aku, nyamai agi nangkap insing runggu bekau udah nyepoh ke ai nangkap kenyulong. Pedis agi nangkap iya rangkai semadi meh musin kemarau kitai ngetan sempulut, iya mandi lalu inggap tauka deka ngipa ikan ba batang sempuput.

Bah nama utai ulih daduka kitai ke bansa iban/dayak deh. Aku tu semina baka buah kepayang Jabu ngadaka dilah, unggal. Iya ke enda ulih dititihka kitai, buai ke tong sampah ga.
