Tuai Rumah made a political tool by BN

From last week, almost every day Tuai Rumah (longhouse headmen) were summoned by ministers, deputy ministers, assistant ministers and elected representatives to receive “angpaus” in the form of minor rural projects.

Last week, deputy chief minister-cum-deputy president of PBB Alfred Jabu anak Numpang gave lectures to about 100 Tuai Rumah in the Batang Ai constituency.

Yesterday (22 March), PRS state assemblyman Snowdan Lawan of Balai Ringin also lectured 39 Tuai Rumah from Batang Ai and told them they “are part of the government and therefore have an important role to play”. They must show good example by not inciting their own people to go against BN and must tell their “anembiaks” to vote for BN. Later the Tuai Rumah were given free and guided tour of Kuching.

On 14 March, several Tuai Rumah from Batang Ai were asked to meet MP for Sri Aman, Masir Kujat who told them that they were “eyes and ears” of the BN and report to BN any “suspicious” characters who are trying to get their support for the Opposition.

Today, several more Tuai Rumah were asked to meet deputy president of PRS Joseph Entulu Belaun and to receive their “angpaus” of minor rural projects. Wai FM (RTM Iban) made the announcement that they must see the deputy minister this afternoon.

It would appear that BN-PRS are making use of the Tuai Rumah as powerful tool to ensure that their rakyat and voters do not vote for the Opposition as well as making Tuai Rumah as “policemen” and money carriers (mai duit) and distribute such money to their “anembiaks”.

Like past elections, for those who did not vote for the BN candidates, they would be deprived of the goodies. Worst still, those voted for Opposition might ask to leave the longhouse (pindah).

The BN has literally destroy the Dayak “Tuai Rumah” system to support them politically. The Tuai Rumah are our Tuai Adat and what adat is the BN making out of them?

The $450 allowance made political slaves out of our Tuai Rumah even though the system of giving them allowance is good but BN should not interfere with Dayak Adat.

The Native Court now is put under Chief minister Office. That should not be the case as Native Court status is equivalent to Syariah Court in the Federal Constitution, therefor should be independent of the Executive.

Now, the Tuai Rumah label as “kaki tangan kerjaan” is a serious misinformation exercise by BN. With such strategy BN is able to CONTROL the thinking and behaviour of Tuai Rumah and therefor will affect our longhouse community.

This is how the BN government used them to agree to plantantion land development, etc. The mindset of BN is not to use the Tuai Rumah System to improve the government service delivery system to benefit the people but to benefit the YBs and investor.

The Tuai Rymah system is a “wedge” or a “shield” depending on the situation that the BN government need them to be.

A Tuai Rumah must be the “true” representative of his long house community and not puppet of BN government.

What PR and Dayakbaru can do about it?

As I always highlighted, the Dayak Right or Dayak Problem must enroute to the UN. By right PR and Dayak association can sue those government. But we can,t cos we so weak to do that in Sarawak. Our strength is outside Sarawak now. Bring all these thing to the attention of UN only then UN can move forward helping us.

Please friends in Dayakbaru, do not look down at the Tuai Rumah. They are the most respectable person in his longhouse. Without their leadership ability, the longhouse will be fragmented into DAMPA (temporary shed waiting for the longhouse erected).

Though they are not as rich as you blogger here but they uphold the true culture and the identity of the Dayak. I guessed many of you blogger, when retires from your job decided go back to longhouse; will find you are just orang ujung tanju aja (those sideliner at the far end of the verandah). Which means you are nothing to them, unless you CHANGE your arrogant town attitude.

The paradox here, the TUAI RUMAH is govt servant, appointed by the present govt, Captain Jaboo and the crony, and therefore they have to expedite the gov’t directives as stipulated in General Order . They are also being paid RM500 (not sure about the exact figure) per month. To the Tuai Rumah this is a great figure, though it equivalent to the coffee assistants in KCH. They live happily with this income.Therefore you can’t blame Captain Jaboo and cronies MANIPULATE them for the course of BN win during coming general election.

The present economic situation where the rubber sheet price is RM2 per kilo and also the back pepper is down to RM500 per 100kg; the Tuai Rumah and the longhouse people will grabbed anything that come by, even a pack aji-no-moto, is a golden gift to them. I guessed if PiKiR is practising lips (cakap sahaja), you end up at the loosing end.

As I said we are crossing many boundaries already. LA is just another front.

What is the next step? We’ll never know. Just support us. Remember the famous quote of Churchill in Battle of Britain? “Never had so many owe to so few.” (Correct me – I am just an ordinary stock market dealer, not politician or historian).

Many are complaining. Many are unsatisfied. Many see the wrongs that should be made right. They are waiting for someone to take the lead. They are scared, afraid like anyone else.

We can’t deny the role played by the Tuai Rumahs and lest we forget, they are elected by the rakyat themselves.
It’s our duty to get our message of change to the people directly and thus by-passing the Tuai Rumahs.

The Tuai Rumah are just doing their job. They are not only listening or obeying order but also need to cooperate with the government in order to get the right medicines for their respective nembiaks.

How the TR discipline his nembiaks that is his prerogative wisdom, whether the nembiaks pro BN or otherwise that is another matter.

Let the TR doing their job according to work ethics as stipulated in their signed agreement/ appointment….

Wanna share with you a pretty fresh piece of intelligence information extracted from a horse mouth.
Contrary to a common believe Johnny Chuat particaipation in Batang Ai by election is infact a welcome news. Jawah Gerang whom I contacted a minutes ago is of a franks opinion that JC will draw BN supporters considering that both JC & MM are very much a PBB men.
“Its better for us, JC will split BN votes, not ours” lamented Jawah

He doubted if JC would presence himself at the nomination centre on 29/3

NOTE: Latest intelligence info suggest that DSAI will be in town again tomorrow.

Enti sema Tuai Rumah nuan oleh kelipui BN, rayat maioh ke dipegai iya enda semesti ulih dituyu & dikameli ke BN, tiap rayat bisi hak ngundi kediri empu…kati enti tuai rumah nuan ka dituyu ke BN…kati ka nuan ke bisi Degree, Master,Phd, ke ulih bepikir panjai enggau tinggi tinjau ka tuyu ga…tentu enda??????

Tuai rumah kami amat tuyu tang rayat rumah panjai kami 100% enda nyokong BN tegal nadai pemansang & polisi ngemeli, enchiping ke rayat ulih BN. Menoa kami din laut bisi api, tel celcom full line ba area laut, jalai laut manah, menoa basendi enggau sidak laut. Kati betul ke enda adat BN tu.

Pugu Iban..I think we must not blame ‘laut’ for our own weakness..because there are some ‘laut’ areas also not developed as Lubok Antu…take Kpg.Tuie..as an example..there is no clean water supply..no ‘tar seal’ road..
Actually we are weak..we have Iban leaders..we have Iban intellectuals..we have Iban professors..and WHAT ARE WE DOING? All we do is POLITICKING..we are so hungry for ‘power’ that we neglected our own community…there was SNAP..to represent us..then it split..we formed PBDS..we fought each other..till PRS was formed..now we have two camps of PRS…these parties are supposed to represent Ibans…but..finally we Ibans’ joined another ‘laut’ Anwar Ibrahim to ’save’ us from BN..YET MY DEAR IBANS..we blame ‘laut’ for our own predicament..

dear readers,
I totally agree with anderson melintang with the issue of tuai rumah. We put ourself in the shoe’s of the tuai rumah, what would you do? Would you accept the rm500 berik perintah BN? That is a sure thing that they would get. Amat kitai madah ambi duit BN tang pangkah PKR… do you think BN enda nemu if certain longhouse don’t vote for them? BN will know, ukai peti undi kitai baka ke bak negeri, where people would go to schools/pooling station to vote.

And how do you think the Tuai rumah become Tuai rumah? dah tentu pilih anembiak ya empu(majority rumah panjai nya), if the tuai rumah go againts BN, i bet others in the rumah panjai whould be gladly be the BN tuai rumah.

For the TR, rm500 is a lot, it is enough to buy him a car for monthly installment for 5 years!!! a car for every election!!

For all we know, ambi duit PKR says the tuai rumah, tang pangkah BN…

Unless the whole state become PKR baka selangor and penang then we can promise as what the current BN is giving the tuai rumah… but in the time being, what would the TR be thinking?Can swk be like selangor now? if you are in their shoe?? which party would you preach to your anembiak bak rumah panjai?

this TR issue is very important, infact i think this is the key to any opposition to win in Iban area. Berapa mayuh bala nembiak kitai ke register nyudi ba menua/kampung dirik empu? and infact the ones that is left in the longhouse which stays with the tuai rumah are for sure registered voters.

Pikir2 meh kitai kaban. Maju meh Iban!!

tuai rumah ka ngundi bn…tepulang ka sida tang anang maksa rakyat. enti sida bejako lalu rauh-rauh bejako maksa kitai ngundi bn …ambi handphone kitai ka bisi kamera lalu tangkap gambar sereta rekod jako sida.
Sida tuai rumah ka sempit runding meh ka selalu jako jai ngagai rakyat ba rumah pegai ia.

I would like to sugest one strategy to counter the BN’s highjacking of Rumah Panjai’s Leadership for BN advantage.

Try to identify as many Educated Tuai Rumahs as posible. Or try to identify those Tuai Rumahs who have highly educated siblings. Or identifiy those Tuai Rumahs who are well-to-do enongh (who do not need that RM450 monthly allowance). Identify those Tuai Rumahs who has the conscience….

Ask those Tuai Rumahs (Or their Anambiaks) to create a system where-by, Tuai Rumahs Allawances Come from contributions from Individual families. For e.g. each family contribute RM15.00.

A long house of 25 families would amount to RM375.
RM15 may sound much…but try and ask our youngsters who work in the cities to help their Bilik Heads..will make things feasible…

If one long house in a locality adopt this system…it will spread naturally to other longhouses.

As for the Existing allowance from the Government, that money should go to the Long House Funds…may be to help top-up the allowance that is contributed by the individual Families.

AT leaset, this will make it appear that the Tuai Rumah is not “Ukoi Perintah”. as it is now.

Suba bala Polis/Army di kumbai bala sida Aki “Ukoi” Printah. Diatu, Tuai kitai ba Rumah nyadi “UKOI” Printah. Ti panjai baka tu..nyamai agi minta Queen Elizaberth megaai kitai..ngambi pulai ngagai adat lama….

This way, the Tuai Rumahs will be “Our Tuai Rumah” instead of BN Tuai Rumahs…

May sound impossible, but if I am the Governor or even Jabu or James Masing or William Mawan…that is my policy….well, I am not them ..I do not want to either..I do not want to go to hell….

Now, since those useless gentlemen will not agree to that, we have to initiate it ourselves if we want to be “Independent” of the evils ways of BN.

Or Vote them out…simpler…Idup Rayat Rumah Panjai.
