SOCSO Health Screening

Announcement:

The Social Security Organisation (Socso) will require its four million members aged above 35 to undergo free health screenings. The cost will be borne by Socso and the checks will be carried out at its selected panel clinics.

Its board member Abdul Halim said Socso has allocated RM2 million for the programme and also for another programme called “Return to Work” aimed at helping workers who lost their limbs but are still able to work.

He said the health screening would help Socso evaluate the members’s health level and detect illnesses at early stage.

“We hope to start the programme by end of the year. We still have several issues to iron out such as the kind of follow-up treatment that should be carried out if the screening reveal diseases such as diabetes, high blood pressure and heart problem.

“We are also identifying the panel clinics which can carry out these health tests,” he said after presenting the benefit cheques and orthopaedic equipment to 16 members at Socso office here today.
