An observation of BN Strategies in Batang Ai

Big Issues
BN will avoid big issues at all cost. What are big issues? Land Development, Reforestation, Dams, SCORE, Adat Dayak, Education, participation in Civil Service and promotion, infra-structure development – roads, eradication of hard core poverty, NCR land and title etc.
BN will focus on small issues
BN called it bread and butter issues: compensation money, MRP project values converted into cash for distribution to long houses, cash incentive money to vote for BN (vote buying), provide the long house with food/ drinks and entertainment.
BN Election workers fighting over MONEY
Information of BN workers fighting over cash money is emerging from BA. This is expected because so much cash is being carried around and the BN campaigners and team leaders are eyeing to keep some of the cash. This is the type of politics that drive normal person to become greedy. they can do anything to anyone – eg.lying to the people, sabotage unity etc all in the name of getting a share of the cash mone provided by BN.
BN Instant Noodles
This would be the main focus of BN “project of development” and Mussen “Walk the talk” strategy. BN wanted to show that Nyalau and Mussen would be able to deliver the goods and not Jawah. The giving away of Instant Noodlesis good for the people of Batang Ai and so it must be encouraged.
The people of Batang Ai has the wisdom to choose and support what is the truth. The truth is BN is buying vote and will deliver nothing after the by-election. This happened to Jawah in his last 5 yearsterm as MP.
How is it so?
Contrary to Dr. James argument that Jawah did not push hard enough – we need to think back. Is Jawah a member of the cabinet? How Much fund is available to an MP?
Then who is the decider of development fund – it is the Chief minister of Sarawak. Taib is also the Planning Minister and also the Finance Minister. He controls everything – that is why we see DR. James cannot even improve his Baleh constiuency or for that matter Nyalau?
BN Sarawak would then have to ask formoney from BN federal – who receives this money? The State Government! Who control this money- the Finance Minister who is also the CHief Minister. Then are you surprise that Mukah, Betong (Jabu) and Miri ( George Chann) are well developed?
So how do you expect other YBs to get their money when most has been spent to support the constituencies of the THREE big men of Sarawak. I am sorry – Dr. James and Mawan are not in the league of those three. But Dr. James talked too much, too loud. Mawan is much better, he is quiet because he knows that the day for change is coming sooner than later from the young voters of sarawak.
Police Force
The number of uniform personeel deployed in Batang Ai far exceed the reasonable needs. It is the tax payers that is paying the bill but BN do not seemed to care.
Helicopters
During nomination there were so many helicopters flight ferrying VIP – why don’t they just drive for once so that they can the bad roads and poor people living along the roads. It is a big waste of tax payer money to fly this VIP around.
The money would be better spent to provide seed education money to help poor students to further their education to institute of higher learning. Better still if the government could just start to build the hospital forLubok Antu immediately.
The District Officer of Lubok Antu – Mujah
News is that the Lubok Antu Community Leaders are trying to get rid of him, the earlier the better as he is now directly involved in the distribution of MRP. He is said to be active in securing part of the MRP to enhance his personal financial well being. No wonder Taib is saying that Civil Servents should feel that JOB SATISFACTION is a better measurement of success than CASH.
It is a known fact that many CIVIL SERVANTS are getting more motivated by getting more cash rather than having the satifaction of delivering good services to the people. This will trigger CORRUPTION and changing of rules to suit their personal interest.
Conclusion
Some community leaders of lubok Antu dare me to take a bet on how long Mujah would remain as the District officer of Lubok Antu. I am not incline to accept such challenge as it is not fair to an Officer of the Civil Service. Hopefully such message of the people dissatisfaction over the Civil Servant direct business involvement over government MRP project would trigger them to change their ways and listen to what Taib has to say about being a well rewarded Civil servant.
Dayakbaru knows – NO SMOKE NO FIRE. A warning has been given and hopefully greed do not over shadow personal integrity.

Dear PKR Supporters,
As in Ng Mepi campaign with the key PKR in Sarawak, PKR is seem lack of local issues (mostly national issues) and poor movement/voter interact/face to face contact/direct contact with voters. After speech everyone gone, not even shack hand and say thanks you to the voters around. Some speaker too out-spoken makes the voters disappointed for instant take about Jabu/Masing relationship with Taib – “Nilat burit Taib.” As a rakyat party we shall gentle and polite with what ever issues, hardship, hurt-feeling and troublesome.
Local issues below were not mentioned or partially mentioned. Remember. Local need our attention to their specific problem.
BN promise to give 10 arces with land title land free to resettlement.
BN promise to give house, water, electricity free of partially sudsidize to resettlement.
BN promise to build tared road with light, concrete drainage, proper demarkation and flowerful to resettlement.
BN promise to provide tel line, proper school, hospital, training school to resettlement.
BN promise to explore tourism, fishing and other small industries to resettlement.
BN promise to give more chance for local to grap the working opportunity, entering university, getting scholarship to resettlement.
LA people needs petrol sybsidize for outboat engine to upper river.
LA people need more opportunity to do business in LA town, more opportunity to own shop lot.
LA needs small housing estate.
LA needs good administartion, market, bank, shoplot properly.
LA needs jetty at hydro, and every longhouse in upper river.
LA needs proper road from Engkilili to LA along the Kelingklang Range.
More than 100 LA old folk fight against Comminist in late 60s need BN attention.
Folk, LA needs your attention on these issues.

The VICIOUS CYCLE will go on and on.We Dayaks will

The result expected. Sigi kenya meh perangai dayakbaru. They thought they can change the rural folks within a day.
They thought that rural folks are amzed with their condemnation of Jabu & Taib.
Remember, the longhouse folks are not bloggers, they are more concerned about their daily bread. They only listen to your propaganda if you have bread & butter right in front of them.
Promises for tmr, either made by BN or PKR, who the hell to make them believe?
Nevertheles, if PKR guys can deliver the speech like Anwar, although they dont expect it (goodies) to happen very soon but at least they still can hope for it.
I know opposition thru PKR always prefer to campaign ngagai rumah panjai ke nyukong PKR. Tang maioh agi ke keleput batang but*h enti kempen ngagai area ke maioh nyukung BN.
Udah banso politik penyakal, selalu ka menyamai ati diri, rindu disambut org lebih agi ari menteri.. ask them to visit the grey area…..nama saut sida? kapa nunduk ke sida, awak ke sida iya ga merinsa, keno ko……lembau nyebut, agi pelaba aku perangai baka nya….based ngau posting ditu…..mostly cerita lama…”POLITIK MENYAMAI ATI DIRI”

Welcome home. Going by what you write here, I presume that you must have been right in the midst of the action…which can only mean one thing, that you’re no longer abroad but have come home.
I agree absolutely with you that the methods, thus far, employed by our PKR campaigners may not be the best. And the issues brought up may become mind boggling to our simple long house folks. Yes, I agree that we should speak about issues that are more close at hand, such as the bread and butter issues. Pertinent issues like some of those you’ve listed should be given prominence over the bigger national issues. Lets remind ourselves that this is just a b(u)y election. The bigger and broader issues can wait until the next GE13.
Good luck PKR campaigners. If there are some among you who are Christians, prayers can do you a lot of good. Don’t forget that God Almighty (El Shadai) is always on the side of the meek and those who are being trodden. If there’s that is humanly possible to help us bring CHANGE, trust in a Divine Intervention.

Interesting observation indeed. Also the report in the BP today that Pehin doesn’t like street politic put smile on my face. Just imagine, some of us are busy arguing about campaining – to the seemingly less informed or less politically sophisticated longhouse folks, while the VVIPs get annoyed by street politics.
Try to picture the poors vs the richs; poor both in material and taste – while the elites are super rich (in material as well as taste).

What a pity it is that some leaders such as Dr James – who used to champion the poor rural folks are now using maximum might of BN resoruces to try to get the votes.

Ba penemu aku siku, perintah patut meri sida gaji baka uhang ke gawa pehintah. Nya baru sida rumah panjai ulih ‘menyegarkan emosi’. Diberi tua bread and wine pen nadai meh guna, ku dek unggal. Uji tak beri kereja makai gaji buta aja, dek ka meda sida nyamai pendiau. Aku enggai bula ke kita, I don’t know how to improve their life by giving projects. In many cases they may not know how to appreciate these projects and still blame the givers. Nadai jaku nya, beri gaji buta ke semua mensia ke bedau si gaji, unggal. I would be very happy if my present gaji is increased by another 30 percent. Nya baru segar amat asai emosi aku.
