Some of the reasons/factors why PKR lost the by-election?

Posted by: JJM Junior

Dayakbaru – still old method to approach campaign
Dayakbaru, is only in name looks great, sweetened by the nice slogan “Change We Must” but our same people of dayakbaru through PKR still advocate the old method/style/strategy/approach of campaigning. As long as we can differentiate/ recognise our enemy or opponent and never ever want to make compromise, what more to say win their heart, in any election, we might win the pride but surely we lost the support/vote.

Phasing out the old generation – in effective

Phasing out the old generation will not help if the root of foundation is still the same. Whether you like it or not it might take the dayak another 45 years to tune to matured politics like west malaysia, and anybody who born before independent day will not see the change if we could not evaluate our shortcomings now or purposely never want to admit mistake by looking at ourselves on the mirror.

Go to the ground

We must accept the fact that to win the election, it has to be fought at battle ground like the real war. Never dig ourselves in the comfortable zone and declare ourselves the winner. USA could never save Kuwait from Iraq invasion without the ground battle although the former has all the sophisticated weapons to bombard and penetrate/ disable the enemy defense.

Dayakbaru is best tool

Likewise, dayakbaru blogs may be the best tools to counter attack the opponents’ campaign propaganda thru TV, newspaper and radio but to win the election the campaigners have to meet the electorate in every corners of the constituency. The mission is to win the voters’ heart but not to create tension with whoever (of not the same ideology politics with us) crossing into our path.

In every election we cannot afford to lose a single vote just because we want to feel proud of ourselves, that’s simple logic!

Guys, last but not least, forgive me for any harsh comment/critics that I had written here against any of you. In fact, I am the opposition sympathizer and that’s why towards the end of campaign period I tried to streamline myself with PKR objectives (beat BN) to give moral support.

Losing an election is not the end

Anyway, losing the by-election is not end of the world. It’s just the beginning of the battle, and also a part of learning process/ experience.

This one could be PKR first step to taste the sour grape, but who knows in another season PKR could have a sweet bountiful harvest (with as many as young & capable new blood as candidates- ukai manuk lungung wai madi).

Hi ALL, whatever you guys argue in the blog about Batang Ai by election…the current govt candidate will 101% win if the area is IBAN majority. Even if PR now is the govt of Malaysia and Swk, Jawah will win the election too..the answer is simple..no need educated IBAN to know the real answer. The answer = 99% of IBAN are so poor even RM1 they willing to sell herself/himself, 99% of IBAN lack behind in almost anything (education, business, employment opportunity in govt/private sector etc..). IBAN are a good follower just like a DOG…IBAN like to fight among themselves. The sad thing they are a majority but being marginalised BIG TIME for the last 50years…

    Comment: Not always correct.
    1. Light wieght Mikai Mandau won the Batang Ai state election in 1987 on PBDS ticket, then the opposition.

    2. Jawah Gerang won the Lubok Antu parliament seat on independent ticket in 1990. But what happened after that, on both cases they accepted/ joined BN, Mikai frogged into BN3, Jawah accepted by BN at federal level through PBDS. I think, that’s why the voters no longer trust any opposition party proclaiming to help them.

Perhaps, the voters are also fed up with too much politicking and at the end of the day, they are still the same no matter which party and who is their YB. Therefore, whoever give them bread & butter is their choice, could not blame them yaa…

Comment: In fact, Ibans are loyal to any pay master, just because they are poor might be not always the case? Even at the end of their career they get rich but still they prefer to serve their master permanently instead of venture into other businesses or start a new one.

Ibans being marginalised could be due to politicking too much, one time opposed, another time joined the coalition, then broke again as being narrated in the Broken shield.

Ibans are still looking for a leader who truly has the great vision & courage to unite and bring them forward on par with other races. If anyone ask me on that question, I can say that at the moment there is non among the Iban/ Dayak community.

The Batang Ai folks are telling you crystal clear what they need. They dont need future or politics, and they are satisfied with what they have got. Respect their decision, please.

Poverty and lacks may sometimes remove your strength and spirit and faith…

    Nuju Bala Kaban Semua,
It’s not surprised that, the BN won the seat at BA recently:-

    (1) BN spent a very, very high cost paid into this
    particular by-election, including RM80 juta
project had been promised to emplement the
BA constituency. If this’ true, the people
of Batang Ai, will be the most well-developed
area among all the rest of Iban community
in Sarawak. So, the people of BA will
enjoy their lives more comfortably than
    ever before.

    (2) Yes,ofcousre PR lack of money to challege
the BN.It’s normal to opposition party,
especially for we Iban people if missed
guided with the money and they would escape
    from the voting.So,this’a normal practice.

    (3) I noticed that, most of the voters are the
at age of 50-60 years old.So, they easily
trapped by the BN campainers, during campaign.

    (4) Jawah Gerang, was 4 terms became the MP at BA
    so,whatever the BN campaigners said,
why the BA was not well-developed, it
quite difficult for him to answer. The
    real fact was there.

So, with all 4 factors above, that’s the reason why the PKR lost at BA. No problem, as long as at West Malaysia, getting stronger &.stronger and Sarawak &.Sabah will be no ways could stay alone if the structures of at W-Malaysia collapse and die. So,let’s put more effort &.struggle through this incoming Sarawak General Election-2011.Sooner or later, we must change the Government, which is too much corrupted, etc.

    Thank you.

Enti pelaba ke aku, tik kita mantai ke pengari ti baru kelimpah ari Jawah aku pasti PKR ulih menang. Peda parti baru tapi nyabong orang lama. Ditu strategy kita udah alah, enda iboh kira pasal utai bukai agi.

Strategy very important – Diatu strategy kita nyadi tragedy… Arap ke kita bala dayak baru ngubah strategy enggau policy kita ke jemah ila
