10 Questions on NCR Land Development

My 10 questions:

1. % of NCR land that will NOT be “grabbed” for oil palm etc ?

2. Do individual owners of NCR land used for oil palm plantation issued copy of the land titles ?

3. Do individual NCR landowners has legal rights NOT to participate in an oil palm scheme?

4. Why does the law prohibit individual NCR land owners to survey their land to get legal recognition of ownership – long overdue to them?

5. Does the law in its present form, rightly accord ownership status to present NCR landowner ?

6. Does the law accord ownership by inheritance to NCR land that has been used for oil palm?

7. Has the government any plan to translate the relevant NCR land codes into Iban or other Dayak dialects and to dessiminate the information to the rural population ?

8. Why have the government not make any effort to explain the rights of NCR landowners ? Why the effort has been apparently more to explain the rights that has been lost, and how best(for government) to quash opposition to the NCR land gazette ?

9. Why the government has NOT been willing to engage directly with honest(have no vested interest) NGOs and all other segments of Dayak society ?

10. Why do the civil service and the police, as in the Niah case(and reported elsewhere), appear to have ignored reports of encroachment: what instructions have the governent issued to the civil service and police to ensure the rights of NCR landowners is protected ?
