Can we compromise and unite under 1Dayak?

Written by gkm2020

Sum of discrimination, racists, fears, threats and much controversial issue in the history of Dayak in Borneo: Much have been written about Dayak of Borneo long before the 12th century and much we all have lived in peace until today….

  1. Why only now ie after 46 years of independence “someone” is thinking of time to drop the word “Dayak” out of the historical events/facts and vocabulary of Borneo?
  2. Why not drop “Dayak” before Sabah and Sarawak joined Federation of Malaya to form Malaysia?
  3. Why and/or when there’s so much of bloody struggle and battle war-cry; “Agi Idup, Agi Ngelaban” and “Osia Oh Kamanang” to defend, protect, safeguard the country soverienity and retain peace & order against any insurgency and/or threats in this multi-racial country? Please do not forget the Dayak fallen heroes including those who have received their bravery awards (George Cross, SP & PGB) have served in this country well with honor, loyalty, courage and dignity are there too!
  4. Why call to erase “Dayak” on the day of “Selamat Gawai Dayak 2009” which is aimed to unite all ethnics of Sarawak and other races in this multi-cultural country?
  5. Why ones must rush to create a broken; dukuk ilang, sangkuh and terabai when there’s already peace, stability and harmony in this country?
  6. Which comes first; the history of “Dayak” or the history of “Sarawak” and/or the history of “Malaysia”?
  7. Why not time to drop corrupted political ideology(s) from the map of Sarawak and/or Malaysia? Read more

Let MDC application collect dust at ROS

Posted by Jetty (The Broken Shield)

Speedy registration

Nothing short of magic could have ensured the speedy registration of Malaysian Makkal Sakthi Party (MMSP), said M. Kathirveloo, a close associate of Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) leader, P. Uthayakumar.

In view of this, Kathirveloo asked if MMSP was endorsed by BN?

He suspects this because he tried to register another party, Indian Rights Action Front (IRAF) in June last year, but the application was turned down in April this year.

In a letter to IRAF dated 3 April 2009, the ROS said that the application was rejected because the organization was suspected of having similar name to the outlawed Hindraf.

For MMSP, its leader Thanenthirran met with PM Najib Tun Razak one month before the registration of the party. Read more

Thinking of getting Rich: Find the Possibilities, Rids off the Impossibilities

Written by gkm2020

Dayak Towkay Baru Agenda: Getting rich does matters in order to achieve economic sustainability and enhance future development but do it in a legitimate way.

It’s everybody’s dream to get rich fast and become the luckiest one

Being rich connotes a lot of privilege, power, economic strength and enjoyment. If you have lots of money, you can buy things you wanted (but not true love and/or happiness). You can just shop around whatever things you fancy like clothes, jewelry, and accessories or party 24hours round the clock.

The house you’ve been eyeing in the posh neighborhood can be yours too. Owning a car can never be a problem. You can now own your dream car and even purchase another one. It’s really enjoyable to have lots and lots of money. In today’s modern day and age where money is very important, it’s better to be rich than poor. It’s not about neglecting the “poor”; it’s about converting your mindset on the path to achieve prosperity. Read more

Should we continue living in long houses

Posted by CharcoalArt

Long house Life style

Most of us are too familiar with the laid back longhouse lives especially the rural ones. Admittedly longhouses provide Dayaks with backward type of dwellings which even the educated Dayaks themselves tend to shy away from. It is a shock in the field of architecture which has developed for thousands of years. Thus to the western world the longhouse lifestyle is considered as very primitive. Yet we still have them!

What is there in a long house

Apart from treating the longhouse as our origin, adat Iban, etc. there is really nothing in the longhouse that’s really worth to pursue or that could bring us more money, let alone financial freedoms. Most Dayaks who live in towns and cities would not be willing to live and make their living there. Read more

An identity Crisis.

Written by Jalong Bato (The Sunday Post).

-The Orang Ulu community has arrived at a junction in determining its collective tag. There are two distinct viewpoints-one favours changing the name Orang Ulu to Lun Daya while the other wants to retain status quo.

-The community is split into two camps with a significant number wanting Lun Daya a better reflect the ethnicity and a big majority in favour of retaining Orang Ulu,arguing that the term has been well known and well accepted not only in the country but also internationally. Read more

How NOT to measure ourselves

Posted by Maramat Tajak

Quotes on money

Along side the Bible verses in the posting, instructive to note that Mao Zedung also said “to get rich is glorious”.

It has also been quoted that “Donald Trump doesn’t see money as the measure of a person. He pursues it not for want of it, nor to accumulate it, but merely as a unit of measure. To Trump, money is but a scorecard that tells him he has won and by how much”.

Dayak Earlier ways of measuring success

To the Dayak Iban – antu pala, tajaus, tawaks, tibangs (full of padi) bravery, courage, righteousness … used to be the measured of a man. Until RTM (see John Postil) successfully transform the Iban into commercial creatures with fervent longings for injin padi, injin moto aik, can food, bicycle … as pemansang. Of course, BN (un)wittingly feed the insatiable hunger for materialism at the expense of stunted or denied spiritual growth. Read more

Dayak Needs Are Not delivered by Dayak Leaders

Written by Iban Abroad

Brain Washing

Very often, we heard that, YB or BN Representative conducts Civic Course at Longhouse to brain wash the longhouse folk on government agendas, development, education, economic, culture and so on.

Now, it is time for YB Dayak to attend Civic Course in order to improve their understanding on Dayak Rights and Dayak Needs. Both Dayak Association and YB Dayak can start to prepare for this mission.

Why do we need this leadership course?

There are a lot of reasons to conduct the Civic Course to YB Dayak at the moment. Below are some of them;

Present Dayak YB are seemed to be the weakest Dayak Leader in history. They are willing to be a “Passengers” rather than “Pilot” tho they are majority, no sign of power conquered amongst them. They have been lead by the minority for 40 years. Read more

BN supporters of Kampung Lusut Jaya deprived of basic needs

Posted by Jetty

Despite their strong support for the Barisan Nasional, the residents of Kampung Lusut Jaya 1 (click on the image to enlarge) area in Miri are yet to taste the fruits of Merdeka.

According to Jembu Bangga, the village chief, the government should give official recognition to their village and look into their basic needs like proper roads, water and power supply.

“We have been supporting the BN government all this while, and hence surely the village deserves some projects in return for their support to the government,” he said at the Miri district Dayak community leaders pre-Gawai Dayak celebration over the week-end.

The celebration was officiated by the Minister of Energy, Green Technology and Water Peter Chin. Also present were Lambir state assemblyman Aidan Wing, political secretaries to the chief ministers, Ariffin Lamat and Watson Bangau and government officials. Read more

Why Financial Planning & CSI utmost important to us?

Written by gkm2020

“Dayak Towkay Baru” Agenda: Personal Financial Planning and Compound Saving Interest (CSI)

  • What is personal finance; to loan or to save or to settle debts?
  • How do you let money work for you while you are rushing to work or even after you retire to live the life you want to be (dream of)?
  • How do you want to live your life 20 years from now?
  • Or say 11 years from now i.e. achieving rhetoric Malaysia Vision 2020 or your Personal Vision 2020?
  • When you retire at 45 – 65 and later or earlier?
  • What could it be to benefit your next generation; your family and loved ones, and others?
  • What could it be if you had earned so much that you want others to live out of poverty?
  • What could it be as God’s servants to help others; while the world may honour the rich—don’t be surprised if God honours the poor? “Listen to me, dear brothers: God has chosen poor people to be rich in faith, and the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs, for that is the gift God has promised to all those who love Him.” James 2:5, TLB

Personal Financial Freedom First, Empower Change!

Written by gkm2020

This article is for those who keen to become “Dayak Towkay Baru”; if Change does matter?

I want to be a new “Dayak Towkay Baru” then you need to rethink your life now!

Imagine, if you will (some day), a life free from financial obligations and concerns (other than RIP). No worries about not having enough money ever again, no desire for more money because you have everything you want that money can buy or your dream have came through.

Bekuli forever or start to build your own financial freedom

Just imagine spending 8 to 12 hours daily, you now spend working for money on living your dream, doing whatever fills the void inside and feeling completely fulfilled each day of your life. That is what we called financial freedom. It’s also mean by saving now and builds wealth for your next generation needs. Your kids will feel the freedom more than you do today. Read more

MONEY is like Fugitive, be a professional police!

Written by gkm2020

In response to Money Changer’s comments on May 14th, 2009. Thanks all, on your sincere comments and great response.

Money has wings?

Well, surely money does have “wings” only that it flies to people who know how to court it (I don’t mean fraudulently). Many have been affected by the prevailing global financial crisis and/or credit crunch; but it should be noted that only a very “wise investors” are taking advantage of the situation. I strongly believe that one’s ability to study and understand the principles of making money (in a non-fraudulent way) will help a lot. Money has wings but whether it flies to you or away from you depends on your ability to understand, implement and apply its principles. Read more
