Malaysian Parliament is So Boring
By Sim Kwang Yang (Malaysian Mirror)
KUALA LUMPUR – We were told recently that the Dewan Rakyat had problems getting quorum again. The bell had to be rung to entice ministers and MPs from the corridors and the café to go back to the chamber to make up the numbers.
This is an old problem.
Ministers and MPs themselves are bored with the proceeding in the house. They are not interested in the bills and other business being debated, and they do not like to listen to other MPs talking.
Barisan Nasional MPs sometimes blame the opposition legislators for not helping out with making the quorum, and the opposition MPs will retort that according to parliamentary conventions, it is the responsibility of the ruling party to ensure that there is always quorum in the house. Read more

Separation of Power in Malaysia – BN Government change the rule
By Thomas Soon (The Edge)
Nasri Talking
That “cases before the courts were not intervened by any quarters” and that “there were cases where the judgments were not in favour of the executive” do not equate to the doctrine in practice.
(Phrases within quotation marks taken from a Bernama news report attributed to Nazri who was speaking during the question-and-answer session in the Dewan Rakyat recently.)
Separation of Power has been dead for TWO decade
Furthermore, the doctrine is a means and the end is the protection of the rakyat secured through the upholding of the sanctity and independence of the judiciary. Either way, as things stand, the credibility of the Barisan Nasional (BN) government and the judiciary has hung in the balance over the past two decades.
The doctrine, which calls for checks and balances between the three estates of government, has been dead in the country’s system of political governance since 1998. Read more

‘Wahai Manusia! Does Sabah, Sarawak and Trengganu benefit from Oil Windfall
Taken from: The Malaysian Insider
Petronas posted a higher revenue:
of RM264.2 billion for the year to end March 2009 mainly because of bigger sales volumes and the stronger US dollar. In the previous year, its revenue had amounted to RM223 billion.
But lower global prices and higher operating costs led to a 14 per cent drop in net profit to RM52.5 billion from nearly RM62 billion before.
Given that the average price of oil this year is likely to be softer than last year’s average of US$88 per barrel, its oil revenue and profit in the coming year is likely to be weaker. According to projections by Standard & Poor’s equity research, prices are likely to average US$56 this year and US$63 in 2010. Read more

Case for forming / not forming a new Dayak Party
Posted by: Maramat Tajak
Judging from 100s of postings on similar subject, this has got to be the most difficult issue and yet the most important to address. Don’t have the magic wand, but will speak my mind.
Dayak Population – what it means
Given that there are only about 1 million Dayak, its hard to see how there can be that many political parties (PBB,SPDP,PRS,SNAP,PKR,PAS,DAP,SUPP) who would most certainly proclaim to champion the Dayak cause – when & if any of the parties has a Dayak candidate standing for election, in any of the Dayak-majority constituency. No point in lamenting the sad state of affairs. Lets take this as a given, with no easy solution. Read more

We want JUSTICE for Dayak

You sounds reasonable enough that it warrant equally sensible reply. This may not what you like to hear, though.
People want Change
I have been following DayakBaru for about 3 months.
The general feeling is that people want CHANGE in the state government. Of course, the debate is in the HOW.
Many would talk about political parties, and personalities, and like yourself – talk about the prospects of winning, like in a game of football.
Issues affecting Dayak
Being a non-politician, my interest is in the issues affecting Dayak at state level, and issues affecting Sarawak at national level.
For many of the issues raised including NCR Land; the issues did not just popped out. It had been there in the public domain although not in mainstream media.
For the many issues that I’m passionate about, I take it as good practise to study it in depth, and to visit the websites of government, political parties and blogs of every political persuasion. Read more

What is value of man – or Dayak in this case?
Posted by Empelesik Sungei
“What is man that you are mindful of him, the son of man that you care for him?” (Ps 8:4) . “You make him ruler over the works of your hands, you make everything under his feet.” (Ps 8:6)
What is the value of man?
Is it RM3,000? “You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil, the arrogant cannot stand in your presence. You hate all who do wrong. You destroy those who tell lies, bloodthirsty and deceitful men, the Lord abhors.” (Ps 5:4-6)
What is the value of man? Is it the mansions, jewels, titles and accolades? “What God is it for a man to gain the whole world yet forfeit his soul?” (Mk 8:36) Read more

Another JV will be sign on July 9 2009 with Sime Darby for Julau NCR (37,000 ha)

With whom is the JV going to be signed ? Were the NCR land owners informed through letters, of the proposed JV – including all its Terms and Conditions ? How was it decided that Sime Darby got the rights to the 37K hectare of land ? Heck, how many NCR land owners are affected ?
In the first instance, since the NCR land owners were prevented by State Land Law to survey and obtain land title, the signee to the so-call JV will be the chosen few, supporters of BN including Tuai Rumahs, Councillors, Penghulu and regular crooks looking for kantau – who will be feted by Pelita and Sime Darby officers. Why are Politicians in NCR JV?

How about those politicians and direct family members act as shareholders of the plantation JVs and all those suppliers and contractors? Not a conflict of interest? Not cronism, nepotism?
What make it no difference than just another common thief?
Politicians and Robbers
Take the JV percentage aside, a very clear group of robbers and victims in a very unbalanced number of people involved. A very few cronies against thousands of Dayak landowners plus their family members. Read more

1 Malaysia concept is sound good but a lot of question than answer for the Dayak in Malaysia, especially during the Dayak is in nervous present situation at the moment.
Dayak are being divided and rule by one single family
For many years start from Tun Rahman Yacub in early 60s till now. The present leader is tended to install Dynasty System. Now sign of genuine power sharing or handover to qualify person is planned. No sound of advice from KL to correct this, instead a sound of strong support from KL is always announced.
Dayak voters are being trapped and their democratic votes have been snatched
by Politic of Development charted by State BN with full of promise but never delivered accordingly. BN promise to deliver 80 Millions of Ringgit to Batang Ai by election is one of the example from thousands of promises that has been aired. Read more

Let us assume that all comments anywhere in any blogs are not lies and at the same time not the truth. Wisdom is the key word. Always think that the other person knows something that you do not know. Simply call it ‘knowledge sharing’ To bluntly call someone a liar is unacceptable and to glorify a cause that you dont compehend is morally risky as well. Read more
