The Great Sarawak MPs

Written by Dr. John Brian Anthony

What Taib say about Sarawak MP:

  • They are the hardest working politicians in the country
  • They are service oriented, talk less and travel a lot in their areas
  • Their attendance in Parliament is very good

Hardest Working Policitian?

I am not too sure of that. How many of these MP has service centre and how many days do they spend in their service centre.

If they work so hard, why is it they cannot share their development plan for their constituency. Most of the time they talk “rubbish” and even if they have nothing to say about development plan they still have nothing to say about showing the direction that Sarawakian should follow.

Most of the time they mimic Taib like parrots. When Taib talk about SCORE – they also try to mimic him even though clearly they do not understand the concept.

In the end they ended by lying to the people. Those days are gone when the younger generation know more about specific subject compared to the MPs.

Talk less and Travel more

Parliament is not an everyday affair. Yes you work and travel but time is also given to MP to debate on national issues and the various legislation being introduce in Parliament.

Talking less – is a silly approach. We want to hear our MP speak up on issues that is important to the country. Are these MP familiar with international and global issues that affect us. Are these MP familiar with internal National issues and how they impacted the people.

Is Taib trying to imply that national issues is NOT important and what is important is only the MP constituency? Even then – the traveling MP sometime is a pain in the ass – they travel like KING when there is no need for such welcoming. They wasted the Rakyat money on them.

I think Taib is trying to shut them up – so that they cannot express their view in Parliament. By doing so – they do not attract attention to Taib’s doing in Sarawak.

Taib personalize politics

When you try to personalize politics then it become dictatorship. Like Taib saying “I am the Government”. That mean the DUNS members are non compo – stooges with no rights to speak or give opnion and less so to make decision.

How do you think Taib make them keep quiet

These MPs and BN politician, including the very small guy in town would threaten people with ” blacklisting” and “no project” for you. Why do they do that?

It is because their top boss say things like that. How many people are afraid when when Taib get angry or upset? I heard many stories. The politician must please thier boss to no end.

Is this good for our country development?

Politics of fear and politics that is centred around one man is not good for our country. In the end you will see what you see. When Taib is in Kota Semarahan – everything goes there. Now he is in Mukah everything / money go there.

What happen to the rest of Sarawak? Nothing happen and the elected YBs are to keep quiet. What is given to the YBs to keep quiet – small businesses only.

The luckier one with bigger business supporter tend to make more money. Those YBs without business acument and network are just making enough for a living. The rest Taib share with his family and political crony. Otherwise, why do we feel cheated by the government all the time.

Why do Taib think that Sarawakian are all fools

Easy – evey election result prove that Taib money can buy us and we are made to look like fools. The fools that Taib bought acted like “boss” and threatening eveyone around, They wanted the business for themselves so they go and say bad thing, do bad thing to others.

No wonder many clever young Dayak keep to themselves and ignore politics. They took the stand of “Don’t trouble trouble unless trouble trouble you”. Bu the time the trouble trouble you, it would be too late.

Conclusion

Fellow Sarawakian – I ask this of you. Why is it so difficult for us to say no to BN in Sarawak despite all the bad things they do to us? Simple – Taib split our thinking mind with fear, stay away and if you go against me I will punish you. In the end – we appear weak in the eyes of other Malaysian.

If not BN, it will be PR. Two party system is the most suitable for acceptable democracy. I would like to read and analyze the PR manifesto, like the Obama manifesto while he is running for presidential election.

Governments, local, county, state or federal, are artificial entities created by the people. Governments, collective organizations, were created to protect the life, liberty and property of each and every person.

    Who protect our NCR land?

Unfortunately, government power was usurped long ago by the Elite, the majority of them lawyers, who impose laws favorable to themselves and their corporate cohorts but disastrous to the common citizen. To keep us fighting among ourselves, the Elite fashioned political parties. The sincere citizens are so preoccupied blaming the specific parties that they fail to recognize that the Elite within both parties utilize the spoils system – no matter which party is in power.

Politicians are like professional wrestlers with orchestrated differences who choreograph their moves and celebrate after each match. Citizens naively believe the rhetoric because we hope things will improve while government Elites of both parties plunder our lives, liberties and pockets. We have all become enslaved and ransacked by a government that was “hired” to protect us from such egregious abuse.

What happened during ‘Ming court’. Is it a conspiracy?

The bulk of society was composed of servants, landless tenants or small yeomen who owned inconsequential land that the Elite didn’t want. The Elite established a “divide and ruled” tactic that is still very much in place in most societies.

Historian Edmund S. Morgan pointed out, “For those with eyes to see, there was an obvious lesson in the rebellion. Resentment of an alien race might be more powerful than resentment of an upper class.”

Edward Bernays, the grand master of propaganda stated: “We are governed, our minds are molded, our tastes formed, our ideas suggested, largely by men we have never heard of. This is a logical result of the way in which our democratic society is organized.”

The government and their compliant corporate press mold and manage our perceptions and prefer that we focus our anger and attention on numerous distractions – the illegal aliens, illusive terrorists, Kugan, Altantuya, welfare recipients, North Korean testing, whether the CIA lied or was it Pelosi, Islamic fundamentalism, sodomy, as if one court appointment can change the political landscape. The fact is that the government Elite set up this entire environment of contention to divert our attention from their treacherous unconstitutional, criminal activities – in both parties. This is all part of Malaysia’s drive into a 1Malaysia, now hyper accelerated under the current administration.

If we are to be successful, we must be a unified cohesive group. While one person can surely make a small ripple only a strong unified group can change the current stream of events before it reaches the dangerous rapids of destruction. We cannot expect the blessings of Heaven if we trample and bash others in the process of our otherwise gallant efforts. We are on the same side and fighting against the identical enemy.

Let’s not make enemies of each other in our favour to correct the wrongs that we see in our political system.

Constitutionalists are a unique breed of people. We have the courage to walk a different path rather than follow the beleaguered, brainwashed crowd. We come from various backgrounds, religions and races. We may be Ibans, Catholics, Protestants, Methodists, Melanaus, Bidayuh, Orang Ulu or Muslims. Or we might not be affiliated with any religion which is fine. Our commonality resides in our love of constitutional freedom. We have a giant task ahead that needs individuals who respect and honour each other with civility.

Regrettably, even in this free land, there were and still are instances of religious and ethnic intolerance frequently tolerated and promoted by self serving men in our own government. Sometimes, we do not venture to question the credibility of the allegations. Racial intolerance leads to bitterness, hatred and violence. Intolerance is most often the result of ignorance. Were we to walk in another’s shoes, we might be more understanding and compassionate.

Our constitution discourages religious or racial intolerance. It promotes a higher standard of behavior and equality among the citizens of this great land. It is man that perpetuates hatred and bigotry both verbally and physically. The supreme law of the land and the scriptures are not always followed by those who profess belief in them. These two existing standards, both inspired, are the ideal – something to work towards. They give a pattern or model for our lives and measure us as individuals.

If we purport to love, honor and uphold the Constitution and its lofty principles as a document worth saving let us make every attempt to embrace and practice those principles that we so eloquently talk about. Otherwise we would appear hypocritical and lack the credibility of our convictions while claiming to have an alternative plan of action. Generally, civility has been lost. Crassness, vulgarity and rudeness are all too common. The “me first” mentality really means: me first and you last. Putting your own needs above anyone else is the current and often promoted media trend.

Kick the fella who cheat you.

“Talking less – is a silly approach. We want to hear our MP speak up on issues that is important to the country”.

Yes, Dr. It is indeed truy silly for Jelu Rasong to advise our MPs,esp Dayak MPs, to talk less. After all, they are voted by the rakyat to SPEAK UP on be half of the constituents in the parliament. This is according to what I learnt when I was in Primary school ages ago.And it guessit is still true till this very day. I don’t think my Civic is dead poor.

    More to follow…

I wish to be a MP, because I want show my big nose to the people I meet, who will say `selamat pagi YB` Those who stood as candidates in the last general election and lost also wanted to become a MP. If he/she was to be elected, whether he/she is going to perform well?. Don`t just know how to comment others. One thing for sure is, you lost in the election was a proof that you were no good, rejected by the people.

  5. Dayak Undead on June 19th, 2009 10:57 am

Actually the worst and ugliest true nature of Dayak politicians was in fact during the Ming Court Affair. It’s Dayak vs Dayak (also Taib vs his uncle Yaakub) but the one who enjoy the show from the above is non-Dayak Yaakub and Taib all the way back in 1970s,80s,90s. Really a crazy circus show given that all Dayak YBs fighting each other under Yaakub group vs Taib group. Yaakub practically defeated Taib but those frog YBs from SNAP jump to BN Taib and that’t the end of Yaakub plus Daniel Tajem was so hooked up to get CM post by Yaakub. But then, the reward to the Dayaks that jump and always supported Taib is all you can see even now: class A contruction company owners, plantation companies, etc. Those Dayaks from defeated Yaakub group but ‘repent’ rejoining BN was given foreign ambassador jobs, GLC top post chairmanships etc. That is how easy to tame and silence the Dayaks whether those from PBB, SNAP, PBDS, now SPDP and PRS.

Part of main reason why Dayaks in Sarawak really can’t progress well is because our own Dayak leaders busy with power struggle and enrich themselves. When Nicholas Bawin said no single Dayak leader is sincere basically very true even though he is part of the gang before and how the furore from other Dayak leaders hits back at him. Truth hurts indeed. The biggest losers and victims always be the ordinary million plus Dayaks, us basically.

Compare to the Chinese, whoever win or lose BN or opposition, they gain and their business kept on running. For Dayak, what we got? Not even a single barber shop or kolo mee stall owned by Dayak (maybe a few count by hand), what else to say to own a block of shophouses. Most Dayak still struggle as salarymen and hoping for EPF and pension money till death, while the Chinese rest assured their business passed down to their kids that already learned their trade at early age. See the difference of Dayak and Chinese in term of survival and livelihood, even Chinese also avid politicians BN vs DAP.

Not to say discourage Dayaks from politics be it BN or PKR but our past Dayak leaders already shows just how corrupt they can be and those Dayak leaders (formerly the 1980s-90s frogs, backstabber, traitor be it PBB,SNAP,PBDS) that still lurking around now as past and present state ministers, federal ministers, GLC chiefs, ambassadors, current YB or MP should not preach and deny the younger Dayak of politic talks. Who are they to remind the current Dayaks about politics when they are equally historically just as corrupt?

Now comes the Pakatan pact to Sarawak. It’s obvious there are generation gap of the new, fresh, younger crop of Dayaks eager to join Pakatan parties while the Dayak old timers post-Ming Court Affair still hold up under Sarawak BN. Everything everyone at BN side are corrupt while those at Pakatan are not corrupt, clean and virgin devoid of ugly politics. Well, they are still many old timers Dayak remnants from the ugly 80s-90s political scenes are indeed camping in Pakatan right now. They are the one that bring the disease, the cancer of corrupt politics. While most of the young Dayaks try to move forward bringing the new message of hope for Dayak politics, these Dayak old time cancers can wreck it all if you are so innocent not to be cautious of making them as your political advisors.

That is why Dayak must have a firm believe in themself not to be corrupt. Never too late even for new chapter of Dayak politics under Pakatan PKR or other parties. Just be sincere and serve your own fellow Dayaks. Look back and learn from past Dayak leaders of their greed and blunders. Sick right? Why they did it? Are they all super rich millionaires now? No, mostly bankrupt bust in business because they are good in corrupt politics but a lousy businessmen. They carry on now because they begged in front of Education Ministry or Home Ministry to give them at least few school projects or police station projects just to maintain their cash flow running from red negative. Pity to see Dayak politicans like that right? Beggar businessmen on the edge of bankruptcy, worse than rural village Dayak folks with some kebuns still got crops to sell with spare cash some more.

If you may ask, why not they just become ordinary politicians since as YB or MPs they got salary allowance, meet the people of their plights, raise their issues needs instead of worry how many projects he can get personally? Nobody wants to be a poor YB? A YB without a single business company as what commonly a standard for any BN YB? But to get that all, who voted you in first place? It’s all back to the people, the common folks. Of all Dayak leaders since Malaysia formation, yet to see a single Dayak leader which truly a servant to the Dayak folks and really fight for Dayak concerns and issues. A true leader rather than timid follower. Is it because of lack of true Dayak model, we still yet to set a standard bearer of what Dayak leader suppose to be, other than common perception of Dayak YBs that are corrupt and easy to be bought or easy to be tamed, ‘castrated’? Why Dayak leaders have to be so scared of Taib, cannot set our own Dayak course of action and policy in favour of Dayak interest? That is one man to be afraid against the whole Dayaks leaders, folks, all over Sarawak. It is such a great tragedy and injustice, by own Dayak leaders to own Dayak people.

If some Dayak whoever he might be manage to become a YB from Pakatan outright from election (not frog from elsewhere) and all the way fight tooth and nail for Dayak cause, that Dayak righfully deserve a Dayak folklore legend. Never afraid, never scared for what he got nothing to lose. No business crony to worry about. Just plain Dayak politician all on his own, enter as YB and quit as YB also, not a corrupt cronist. He may look crazy speak up exposing evils nonstop like DAP YBs now but 40-50 years from now when God knows there is no BN anymore, that is the Dayak that started it all that ended BN rule. Real Dayak leader and standard bearer of Dayak politics for not kow-tow to anyone, any Rajah whatsoever at all. A model of a great Dayak that every future Dayak kids will quote his name proudly. Even greater and a living legend if he live long enough to tell, documented his great struggle to all Dayaks.

Lim Kit Siang in royal rage over new national palace

    November 21, 2006 at 10:06 PM.

Works Ministry Parliamentary Secretary Yong Khoon Seng was left speechless as Parliamentary Opposition leader grilled him in the Dewan Rakyat for answers on the new national palace. Lim (DAP-Ipoh Timur) quizzed Yong on the recent announcement by Works Minister S Samy Vellu that a new palace costing RM400 million would be built on a hill in Jalan Duta, Kuala Lumpur. Samy Vellu said a new palace was needed because the current building in Jalan Istana is not big enough to host official events. Construction will begin next June, with completion expected in 2009. Lim raised this issue during the debate and asked Yong for details which the latter could not provide. This did not stop the veteran opposition leader from pressing him for a response, remarking that a minister should have been present to answer such important questions.

“Why was the palace given to Maya Maju Sdn Bhd? Who are they? Are they a crony company? Why wasn’t there an open tender? Why wasn’t there a contract? Why do we need this new palace?” Lim shot out relentlessly.

“Isn’t this palace a prestige project that falls outside the prime minister’s aim of not spending so much money? Is this another white elephant project?”

He then exclaimed that this is the first time he was seeing a government representative standing in the House without an answer.

“Why can’t you answer? Why are you standing there if you can’t answer?” he asked Yong then replied that he had already provided an answer, to which Lim retorted: “Just now you said you can’t answer, now you say you’ve given an answer.”

Appearing slightly defeated, Yong said: “I will give a written answer.”

Lim would not let up on the pressure: “How can he stand there and say he will give a written answer? If he’s standing there he should give an answer right now.

“You are incompetent and you are useless. The prime minister should sack you for being so useless. It is shameful in this House!”

Yong calmly replied “Luckily, Lim isn’t the prime minister”, drawing snickers from MPs.

Lim came right back at him: “I pity the prime minister for having such a parliamentary secretary.”

During the exchange, Deputy Speaker Dr Yusof Yaacob kept trying to restore calm in the House.

Yong finally sat down after insisting that a written answer would be given to Lim.
