BN Dayak – Let’s not rock the boat

Posted by Patrick Anek Uren

The topic in this blog site is very interesting. Well I have thought this issue have gone over time (Dayak Must not support SUPP anymore). In the early 70’s and 80’s this issue had almost blown overboard. I participated somehow, and ended up loosing almost all!

Dayaks are mostly to blame for our own present predicament

I believe it is correct as some comments had it, i.e. the Dayaks are mostly to blame for our own present predicament. Those in position of ‘power’ are only too eager to perpetuate it notwithstanding nothing is gained for the people at large.

To them it suffices for them to enjoy the comfort, and the motto is ‘let’s not rock the boat or else’. It is always that worry of loosing that comfort enjoyed currently were actions are to be taken consistent to the wants and needs of the people at large that put paid to these leaders to act according to the need of the people: they are also “tight” in that regard.

Is money the ultimate influence

And these ‘leaders’ of ours would play a role set out in a script written by the boss during every election. While the boss will ensure these ‘our leaders’ will win by providing them with plenty of money. And money it is that will ultimately influence the people to vote in favour of BN being led by the boss, as has been repeatedly occurring.

CM is a big problem to Dayak

The problem is not only caused by active participation of SUPP and its rich members, but to be fair to them the hand that control all things in Sarawak is that of the CM. And he has enough power including the NEP and article 153 Federal Consti. if he has minded to help the Dayaks, but is he?

The fate of the Dayaks is in paralysis presently with all things considered:

Cost of living has gone up by leap and bound, there is no more land or timber tract to issue with all those available have been given out to cronies who in turn passed them to the rich members of SUPP thus making the later richer, and more.

With money in their grip they are building up houses and estate, and when these houses are not selling as most have reached full capacity in term of owning more, the door for foreign to own a so-called 2nd home has been open. Through this door sale of houses and property is and will only make these developers/bilders prosper more.

No telling the future and what it holds in store for the Dayak.

Better yet now that foreign investment into the country is free and open and without NEO requirement, there is no telling the future and what it holds in store for the Dayak. The Dayaks are relegated to a lower level today, we don’t have anything to claim as asset.

Not land because NCR land is very much subject to what the government interprets, and proof is required.

New Set of people in the country

Over time the combined forces of foreign capital inroad, and the 2nd home ownership concept will bring about a situation of new set of group in this country. Over time these will become voters and permanent residents with their children born in this country whilst staying here will become citizen.

And their votes will outnumber that of the Dayaks.

And in any event the state geo-politic is against the Dayaks even before the current concept of splitting the community into 17 sub-groups and sub-subgroups: viz: the Bidayuh into Biatah, Bukar and Sadong and the Bau-Jagoi and Singai, the Bratak, Lala and the Selakau. All these splinters are a boon to the top planner and master strategist, and a bane to the Dayaks who beside they have become overwhelmed by those problems that come unto them as if in a deluge.

The situation is real and momentum gathering

The scene described above is real and right now the momentum is building up. Our entry into civil service has decline considerably over the years, and participation in any businesses has gone awry with the win. And 50 years down the road, all things being equal, the Dayaks as a community will certainly look up to the Chinese who will have to look down at us from a lofty pedestral.

“All things being equal” by this I mean that we can change things around by not calling all the scenario above described as our fate, but instead we should be at the driver’s seat of our destiny. For this a lot of sacrifice is required. Due to the stake are higher to leave fate to run its own course we have to take to the driving seat to move forward, and sacrifice we must!

Conclusion

Lastly, let us put up a common plan of action, and not just talk too much. I think our talking too much in the past is also a contributer to our current predicament. Change this habit and attitude and begin afresh with action to take a lead.

It is alright to ask SUPP to walk the talk but why can’t we ask ourselves instead: plan and action be the catch word.

Don’t be despaired by Batang Ai and sit and wait! Insted we should move on. Change we must!

    Patrick AU,

My grandfather used to tell me if you cannot fight your enemy from outside continue the fight from inside. In this case since figthing BN from outside seemed to be an exercise in fultility….hence the need to fight Taib & cronies within BN.

Let everyone be reminded (including Dayakbaru) that Dayakism is dead and alreaddy 6 feets under the ground, hence should be buried for good. Any attempt to revive Dayakism is diservice to the community and should be sumpit – blow-pipe -

Petronas is Malaysia’s only company whose revenue is large enough to make it to the Forbes list of the world’s top 500 firms. Former premier Mahathir Mohamad, who is the adviser to national oil firm Petronas, has asked how the Umno-BN spent the RM253.6 billion paid out to the government in taxes, royalty, dividends and export duty.

Out of 253.6 billion, how much goes to Sarawak? How much does the earning from Petronas contributed to the development of basic infrastructure in Sarawak?

If Sarawak doesn’t want UMNO to rule in this state by proxy through Taib then the Dayaks should know what to do in the upcoming polls – vote in Pakatan Rakyat. So stop moaning and groaning about Taib and his ill-gotten wealth and do something about it.

The next polls are only due in 2011.
There are rumours and prediction that the state assembly would be dissolved three months from now to pave way for an early state election due to the fact that the opposition parties were not well organised now.

Patrick…if you wish to win in the next coming state election, prepare your football team now before its too late. If you work hard the chance for you to win against Ranum is great because I assumed the Bidayuh is the most educated native. Base on this factor, the Bidayuh community can see the bigger picture on what is happening and difficult for the politician to cheat them for their votes.
Ranum is working very hard to gain the trust of the people but so far your constituency does not have much development neither progress, in other word “idle”.

    All the best..Patrick.

Don’t rock the boat that is in its way to bring prosperity to the Dayaks. BUT if it is on its way to destroy the Dayaks, drill as many holes to sink it before it does severe damage to our land and livelihood. Don’t ever tender your vote to help build similar boat again. Let the BN boat sink.

Ka ngaram ke perau? Nadai jakuk nyak.

Instead of drilling holes to the perau why not pasang injin turbo. Maik ke perau nyak laju agi baka bot express Sibu-Kapit, but change the captain of the boat who reluctantly accept injin turbo. We don’t need captain ‘pirates of the carribean’.

Ka ngaram perau anang alang2 sound too pessimistic and stupid. Ati perau udah karam, we needs decades to rebuild it. It will be like Bosnia or Iraq. This will give a great set-back to human civilization especially the dayaks. The rich will run away and the economy will be idle. We have to get IMF helps to start the economy rolling. IMF colonize your economy. Back to square one. If the economy does not move, crime rate definitely will increase, the boat start to rock and we obviously will karam one more time. No investors will come in if our boat runs into pelagus rapid. So lets learn something from history.

The one who come in to help you to rebuild your boat will be those opportunist and foreign capitalist. The new captain will become their proxy. So…so…it’s not a win-win situation.

Aku ka ke kapit ngigak induk bajik ngena bot express. Berapa tambang deh?

I know not many members here agreed with my militancy approach. I used to be honest and humble like the others and now what happen? We slowly lose our rights to daylight robbers no other than the present government led by Uban, and co-star George & Jabu.

Do we continue to be humble and tell our folks anang ngelaban perintah so that they remained passive and say nothing when they lost everything to few greedies?

Look around us, what left is our individual longhouses, some might seated on state land although it has been there for centuries?

Tat ke aja pia, lak ke laut & cina berkuasa ke utai kitai, ngempu semua pengaya, kitai ngemata ke aja….nganti org ke nyapi?

  15. BN Dayak on July 7th, 2009 1:35 pm

Taib is not the real problem for the Dayaks. The real problem is the Dayak legislators, assisted by the longhouse chiefs (think subsidies) who are keeping Taib in power. Why? Taib’s work is to collect and share the spoils of office with them. If Taib is not around, the Dayak legislators will simply gather around another Taib who can serve them. So, if u want to bring change to Sarawak, forget about Taib. That would be barking up the wrong tree. Focus on discrediting the Dayak legislators & the longhouse chiefs for propping up the current political system which works against the interests of the Dayak nation. It nust be remembered that it was also the traditional Dayak chiefs who kept the Brooke Dynasty in power for 150 years. If u want to kill a snake(the system of political power), u must cut off its head(the Dayak legislators) & not just step on its tail (Taib),if u step on the tail, the head will strike u with its poisonous fangs.

    Mr Changop

What is Dayakism? It was coined when PBDS was in the government – and of course Dr James Jemut Masing could answer that. He was there.

Is Dayakism similar to “Dayak Nationalism?” I think it’s close and if its Dayak Nationalsim, then what about “Malay Nationalism,” is it dead & buried? Now another word which is one notch higher is being promoted, “Ketuanan Melayu.”

Is “Ketuan Melayu” dead too? I want to hear you give similar benediction.

    BN dayak,

I salute your point of view.

The Dayak legislators walked out of the Dewan when Chong(DAP) raised the issue of NCR land. The longhouses’ chief and the legislators are the culprits and betrayed the trust given to them by the dayaks voters.

    I cry in my heart.

Kick the fella who cheat you.

    as the so-called Sarawak ultranativelist,

we should controlthe economy from others. mayb for the foreign company the equity reserved for Sarawakian lowered to 40& but for the non-native company, native people should have 49% equity, active and inactive shareholder
