Modus Operandi of Dayak Land Grab by BN Government

TAHABAS

Re-posting. Good to hear TAHABAS is taking some action – at least to expose to MalaysiaKini. Sad if that’s all the assistance/advocacy that the 60 longhouses will ever get.

Dayak denied Land Ownership

For, as I noted below, LCDA and Dr James office, supported by Sudarsono (Land and Survey), will continue to execute the same strategy of denying legal ownership to NCR land by withholding issuance of land title, and then to act with impunity in the way it grab timber (via proxy),and later, I won’t be surprise at all – maybe the legal land title itself(via shareholder buyout).

“Overwhelming response”?

Of course Borneo Post will aid and abetted the grab by releasing “overwhelming response” when again, the NCR land owners, never get anywhere near the legal agreement, much less signing the Memorandum of Consent.

The coercion will happen systematically, when a group of landowner refuse, there will always be others – ever willing to claim an entire area, as their own. Such is the evil that man do to each other, for a mere RM 150 per hectare. The real evil doer though, reside elswhere, smiling ear-to-ear with the windfall !

Indeed, in that case LCDA was clearly misrepresenting the land owner !

The pattern of land grab by coercion is the “genius” in Taib’s Konsep Baru, as reported by my contacts in the Julau case, and is also play out in the public domain.

These are the steps used by the BN government to effect Dayak land grab.

1. First aerial survey is conducted to determine the gross acreage.

2. Then a ground survey is conducted to estimate the timber yield and to gain landscape details

3. Follow by logging operation to harvest the area of its lucrative timber resource

4. Government minister announce general intention to develop the area for oil palm plantation

5. Local syncophants types run around with name list of landowners

6. Meet the people session is organized by Pelita/LCDA, JV company and a government representative – local ADUN or Jemut Masing himself….. to FINALLY gauge the response of the NCR landowners in the “proposed” area.

7. Issue statement to the media of overwhelming positive response to the proposal even as “not a single landowner” has sign the Memorandum of Consent” yet.

8. Issue more positive news to the media of $Millions to be “invested” by the JV company in the area, with a quote by Jemut Masing of how experienced and capable the JV company is and “Best of all, each individual landowner will know the exact size and location of his or her land which will be OFFICIALLY recognised (at last !),”James Masing would say.

9. Rumour has it that many landowners could not cramp into the small townhall (109 longhouse!). Further, it was also rumour that – those who do not want to participate – has to file a report (but not clear to whose jurisdiction) requesting exemption … so much for the Memorandum of Consent and the longhouse to longhouse briefing.

Dr. James Jemut is fully aware of the obvious flaw

If I doubt that Dr James Jemut Masing is FULLY aware of the obvious flaw in the “genius” (after all he is not a lawyer or management guru) – that the method is a well-perfected land/timber grab playbook …… then I would be insulting his intelligence.

SPDA/PRS merger ??

And to think, so many continue to harbor hope of a SPDP/PRS merger as “the best that would happen for Dayak politics “!

I’m beginning to have serious doubts. What do you think ?

“3. Follow by logging operation to harvest the area of its lucrative timber resource”

    MT,

Indeed this is very lucrative. The returns for the subcontractor and its masters are immediate. They do not have to wait for 60 years to recover some of the initial investment capital. Or we could say part of their initial capital in the JV is derived from the resources extracted from the lands under NCR. This point is often always overlooked by the folks and has been manipulated by the JVC and its cronies for their benefits.

“……with a quote by Jemut Masing of how experienced and capable the JV company is and “Best of all, each individual landowner will know the exact size and location of his or her land which will be OFFICIALLY recognised (at last !),”James Masing would say…….”

Why can’t the official recognition of the NCR land be done upon folks’ participation in the JV?.
Why should the government let the folks wait for another 60 years for the legal land titles to be issued?.

i think we should burn the flag of PRS, SPDP, PBB too in support of Abdul Hadi..i think we should make PAS President as our Hero as he dare to expose how far Iban lagging or being neglected by BN…Iban still has CAWAT mentality as a result of BN treament toward IBAN..

I am one of the Saeh residents. Our area now is being awarded provisional lease 938 by the state government to the private developer without consulting us. Despite that, we have the permit given by the colonial government to prove our ownership of the NCR, PL 938 is just simply issued by the government without any regards to our interest?

We have wrote letter of appeal to CM and state Director of Land & Survey Kuching to intervene in our case. But they did not even bother to acknowledge our letter-WHY?????

Remember that Najib Razak mentioned in Batang Ai that the government will not confiscate kaum iban ‘ NCR -but what he had said is the other way round. It seems that Barisan nasional government is condoning the confiscation of of kaum ibans’ lands. In reality, BN government ‘ policy is out of control. The poor ibans are left on their own to fight against the BN government.

Remember that BN politicans ?- You go to the rural areas to get your votes. That votes empower you to rule the people but why you rob the ibans of their NCR ?. What brand of politics you are practising ?
We wrote letter to james Jemut Masing- but You YB did not even acknowleged our letter despite that we sent it thru post laju-What is you role to the Ibans-What happened to your portfolio-Does it has any meaning at all??
