BN Candidate of Permatang Pasir – a disbarred lawyer

Taken from: The Malaysian Insider

The Bar Council says:

The Bar Council today dismissed allegations by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin that it had ulterior motives in confirming to the media that Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Permatang Pasir by-election Rohaizat Othman was a disbarred lawyer.

Its secretary George Varughese said today in a statement that it was authorised to speak on behalf of the disciplinary board, which is established under the Legal Profession Act.

Bar Council has no Agenda against BN

Muhyiddin, the deputy president of Umno, had hit out at the Bar Council yesterday for “having an agenda” against the BN candidate for the by-election here, after it was revealed the Umno man was a disbarred lawyer.

BN Candidate is a disbarred lawyer

The Bar Council had issued a statement in response to queries from the media Tuesday, confirming that Rohaizat was a disbarred lawyer.

Rohaizat had been disbarred last year after he was found guilty by the disciplinary board of misconduct in failing to return RM161,000 belonging to his client, the Penang Rubber Smallholders’ Cooperative.

BN Candidate guilty of personal misconduct

The Bar Council also clarified that Rohaizat had been found guilty of personal misconduct and had lost his appeal against the decision in the High Court last Wednesday, five days before Umno nominated him for the by-election.

Lawyers are not liable for the actions of their partner(s)

The Bar Council’s statement contradicts Rohaizat’s version of the events. The candidate blames his partner in his law firm for committing the misconduct.

But the Bar Council said it does not hold lawyers liable for the actions of their partners.

BN candidate has used client’s funds

This morning, Rohaizat’s former partner also came forward to dispute Umno’s version of events by pointing out examples of how the Umno candidate had used their client’s funds.

Bar Council Regretted Deputy Prime Minister Statement

In their statement today, the Bar Council said it regretted the statement made by Muhyiddin, implying that it had an ulterior motive in raising this issue.

BN Candidate struck off the Roll of Advocates and Solicitors

“The decision to strike Rohaizat Othman off the Roll of Advocates and Solicitors was made by the Disciplinary Board, an independent body established under Section 93 of the LPA.

Members of the Disciplinary Board, which is currently chaired by Tan Sri Khalid Ahmad bin Sulaiman, are appointed by the Chief Judge of Malaya after consultation with the Bar Council.

“The Bar Council is authorised to speak on behalf of the Disciplinary Board on matters relating to disciplinary proceedings involving advocates and solicitors,” said Varughese.

How will BN try to convince voters that it is a “clean” government?.

The KL High Court delivered a summary judgment ordering the Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim to repay the RM66 millions loan to bank Islam but allowed a stay pending an appeal.
So how dayakbaru blamed BN for land grabbing when PR gomen also commit similar sin.
I thinks so, DB should stick to BN. What say you?

  3. Empelesik Sungai on August 21st, 2009 3:13 pm

En Ab. Hakim, whooa, you really Hakim lah.

You really want to know what DB readers think? I think the chicken has laid one egg.

What has T S Khalid’s Guthrie share got to do with the Selangor government? He bought the shares when he was CEO there and PR was not in existence. Check your facts lah kawan, jangan nak jadi Hakim selalu. The entanglement with Bank Islam is his personal business – started even before he was the MB.

So you really look down of DB readers, uh?

if PR is also comitting the same sin like BN, vote for DAP. if DAP does the same, vote for a trusted local based party. moral of the story is, stop supporting corruption.

    Over looked, we guess.

What a terrible mistake, if so. Or the BN is short of capable clean candidate. On the other hand, PAS one of PR coalition party said, we meant Murysidur AM Pas Nik A. said “Jika Tidak Pangkah Bulan, Tidak Dapat masuk Syurga.” We guess we better vote for DB.

Abdul Hakim, what we really think and hopeful is a dayak candidate from DB(And DB has a lot of potential candidateS) stand in Permatang Pasir which is majority Malays, chinese,Indian, pakistan or sahabat and win the Election.

    Thank you.

Murysidur AM Pas Nik A. said “Jika Tidak Pangkah Bulan, Tidak Dapat masuk Syurga.” We guess we better vote for DB.

MRM, really ah, mana tau ni?
DAP also invented their own rocket and never reach there.

Anyway DB mentality here is almost reach there, it’s not a surprise that PR will get a suitable candidate from DB to stand for the by election. This is the time PR should show to BN that they don’t practice discrimination and favourism. ” Polisi alaf baru Malaysia ” Malaysia is for the Malaysian regardless of race and religious beliefs. Anwar Ibrahim and DB let try this new concept and see how well it goes with the malays, indian and chinese malaya. I propose an Iban candidate to stand and no harm in trying.

Hai,Bakeh AHB you really couldn’t wait to judge don’t you think it’s a little too early, let’s wait n see after the permatang paris by-election is over
    selamat berpuasa.

    Dayak Lama,

Anang baka anak mit nyindir orang enggau jako, enda manah. I think your parent also teach you in that way.

Enti kitai berandau ke utai berandau enggau manah-manah. Enti orang enda setuju enggau penemu kitai tauka kitai asai ke alah penemu, it is ok. Keep it in mind.

Dayaklama I think you need to learn more the meaning of good leader, good gomen, good policy professionaly. There were a lot of the world leaders who are bad and good. Read the book about them. From that you can know to differentiate good and bad gomen wisely.

Forget about DB is perfect, forget about BN is right, forget about PR is corrupted for a while and do your homework to learn more about being good in policy, gomen and leadership.

From that you will know well the term of corruption, discrimination, power abuse and so on.

It is all right Iban Abroad. We are mature enough to accept it. We have seen, heard and experienced the worst.

With due respect Dayaklama, we read the Berita Harian and switch on TV3 news, that is where we got the “Mursydur Am PAS,qouted.”

For the DAP Rocket that is still on the launching pad, has’nt fly to the moon yet, our only guess is that, the royalty from the petroleum which is the main source for the rocket fuel is too little, let say about 5%.
After all the DAP is not in a hurry, The PAS with their competence cosmonauts such as Hadi Pawang, Nik Aziz, Azizan are all ready in the MOON. Munyi ko Peter John Jaban, joget all to the moon.

Well for the Dayak Candidate/DB what we said is, “We really THINK and HOPEFUL…” when the time come.

The meaning is quite different with, “I propose an iban candidate to stand and no harm in trying.” We too also like to propose an Iban candidate when all the dust and dirt have settle down on the carpet. Dayaklama thank you for your concerned and points.

    Thank you
    We, Mabel, Rachel & Maria

AHB: “So how dayakbaru blamed BN for land grabbing when PR gomen also commit similar sin.”

–Really? Why bother to tell when YOU CAN ALWAYS SWEAR YOUR ASS OFF.

Yes, it’s that easy and best of all it’s BN invention. Anything in doubt, guilty or innocence, just SWEAR YOUR ASS OFF, no need court hearing or fear for God as God always stay quiet and never punish evil.

  12. Mabel Rachel Maria on August 22nd, 2009 3:26 pm

We understand your anger brother Dyaks, but please try to cool down.

Doc, life is filled with frustration, pain, loss and the UNPREDICTABLE actions of others. You can’t change that, though Change We Must. But you can change the way you let such events affect you. Controlling your responses can keep them from making you even unhappier in the long run.

Verses from the Holy Bible: “GOD will wipe away every tear from their eyes, there shall be no more death, NOR SORROW, nor crying” – Revelation 21:4.

    Thank you.

    Hi Memaluh,
Nama berita di madi? Aku tu Dayak Iban diau di menua ulu lalu mudik ka pasar ngena perau. Nama ikan menua kita dia agi mayuh?
It’s really ” unsangkarable ” for you to say BN is a regime. You dont talk about regime as you never know what you are talking about. Regime will not talk but get a gun and shoot who they don’t like. Do you know the story about Mr. Idi Amin who are the real regime.
Now how many Dayak were shot dead so far by BN?
That’s the problem with DB who always nembak guyab which is so dangerous.
