Dayak – Let us work together

Written by Dr. John Brian Anthony

Intention

The intention of this article is to create awareness among us that we have much to give to our nation by being participative, take personal responsibility and positive in our thinking and behaviour. For a start, Dayak needed to pull themselves together and shape a better future for themselves. We must never leave our destiny in the hand of others for despite their best of intention to be with us, it is our responsibilty to care for our better future ourselves.

Facing our problem today -by not being selfish

We must face our problem today with heroic and kind at the same time. Many problems are our own doing – we remained selfish, not wanting to share our effort, labour and dream as one Malaysian race but remain truely Dayak. Nevertheless, some of the problems are forced upon us, not withstanding our sensitivity towards our ancestoral lands as natives of this country and also as we march forward alongside main stream development we are not given a level playing field. Thus, we resist such situation and demanded that we must not be deprived of opportunities that for us to benefit. Read more

MACC exposes abuse, flaw in spending of allocations for certain projects in Sarawak

Article By Jacob Achoi

Dayakbaru:

Personally I am not at all surprise by the MACC report. The report only served to confirm my observation. It is easy to make observation on malpractices and corruption in Sarawak. Just listen to how this “boastful” YB talked and their close supporters, you can hear their discussion on what to do in order to make quick money from government project allocation.

You can read the same in this blog by those BN supporters – who clearly said that if you want to earn quick money then you MUST join and support BN. Dayakbaru has rebuffed such idea as being irresponsible and wrong in the eye of the law. Read more

What are the teachings of Biro Tata Negara (BTN)?

Taken from The Malaysian Insider

By Asrul Hadi Abdullah Sani

Nov 27, 2006

Dayakbaru:

I hope those Dayak who attended this BTN course can share their experience and learning. If such are the teachings of BTN that Chinese are Jews and Christians are associated with Head and Sholder Shampoo for its doctorine of “Holy Trinity” then DPM have a lot to explained to Malaysian instead of choosing to deny BTN racialist and extremist Ketuanan Melayu agenda.

Why are we spending so much money for such sick ideas of unity through hatred. Malaysian need the money to overcome hardcore poverty and therefor do not need such extreme negativity and may provoke the peace and stability of the country. I hope BN UMNO led supporters realize the “evil scheme”of certain UMNO Malay leaders. Read more

In Malaysia – Everything is Secret

Taken from The Malaysian Insider

NOV 26 , 2009.

Dayakbaru:

In Sarawak specifically – EVERYTHING is a secret. The Civil Servants are very scared to help the people or even to show them what needed to be done. There seemed to be a “secret eye” everywhere in their office. So much so that the government servant has to be wary of who they sit and drink coffee with or just having casual talk. It seems words will get back to the “top’ and the person would be “blacklisted” or punish by the power that be.

Do you know what this mean?

It means the citizen of  Malaysia and in Sarawak cannot ask for any information and that every conversation is being monitored. Is that a FREE and JUST societal environment or are we being oppressed and kept under “unofficial” dictatorship by BN government?. Read more

UMNO – Ketuanan Melayu Racism and Political Indoctrination

Taken from The Malaysian Insider

Nov 26 , 2009

Dayakbaru:

Such is UMNO and BN program of racial based program to promote Ketuanan Melayu. I hope BN supporters in Sarawak can begin to understand the danger of BLIND SUPPORT and that  NOT everything that the government did is for the good of the people.

In Sarawak we learned that many BN Government program are not good for the people of Sarawak but designed only to benefit the few BN politicians and Taib’s own direct family members.

In the event that Pakatan Raykat win in Sarawak – the Dayak Radio Program must be one of the first thing that needed to be revamp. The cultural programs are good but when it comes to news and political program – can we use “shit” to describe it? I think it would be more than that because it destroys the mind of the rural people to be slave to BN political ideology. Read more

BN acted like a spoilt brat again

Taken from The Malaysian Insider

Dayakbaru: When BN lost Perak, they did all sorts of things – just to get power, and yet proclaimed that BN is strong. Now in Kedah – if BN is so strong why not just follow the High Court decision. What has BN got o worry as the federal government is BN and they have all the tax payer money for them to spend in an election. BN can create many things – to scare off the people not to vote Opposition. Now why do we see such a pitiful action of “appeal” and “crying” from BN?

Read more

A Dayak Party – Not Again

Written by Dr. John Brian Anthony

What do we want from a new party?

We want the new party to be for Sarawakian – like SNAP was but is now hindered by dead log leadership with clear direction and resources to build the party.

Can we use – SPDP? It is aligned to BN and we do not BN policies – of divide and rule. It is also a left wing government that favour the rich, elitist and the big companies. It is true that big business is good for the country but not the way BN Sarawak Sarawak approach the mining of country wealth. BN under Taib gave in too much to a selected few and also his own.

On top of that he keep too much for himself and the family to the point that those without start up capital find it extra difficult to start a venture.

Is SUPP an option – NO. It is only for big Chinese towkays. The Dayak in SUPP are given peanuts and dress like a doll for the window. Read more

Dayak To Uplift their Political Approach

Written by Dr. John Brian Anthony

Questions asked

Lately, I have been asked by many friends  the question of whether Keadilan or Pakatan Rakyat will really benefits the Dayak. That seemed an ordinary question but the answer is NOT.

Always at the back of my mind lingers this thought – what are the similarities of PR with BN and what are their differences. How will Dayak benefits from these similarities and diffrences?

Then another nagging question pop up. Do we need PR or PKR to help Dayak to progress? Is it not better to have our own Dayak party in Sarawak that is align to PR instead of joing PKR as members?

I think there are too many questions to answer in one breath. Nevertheless I would try to open up all my senses in order to make sense of my response to the questions to all Dayakbaru readers. Read more

Kaki Dalam Kasut – Tun Mahathir

Posted by Bryant

Foreign writer Bryant’s comments on Mahathir’s article : Kaki dalam Kasut where he says Chinese is the real master of Malaysia . This is a rational article written by a foreign observer in Malaysia.

The highly respected Tun,

WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER

China is coming up, India is coming up, Vietnam is coming up and now even Russia is on the rise. In this flat world that is all wired up and regardless whether we are Malaysian Malay, Chinese or Indian, and if Malaysia does not progress, all of us would become history of this country! Without the Malay, Chinese could not do well in the country and without the Chinese, Malay would not do well. Both have to work together to bring up Malaysia and mitigate the ascute impact that is being brought about by the globalisation.

For me, a true leader is someone who has the foresight that not only focus on one particular group in the country but take care of the future of everyone. A good leader is someone who know what is the biggest threat the country is facing and direct the people to fight off the threat.

A leader is also someone who is impartial that has the ability to promote harmony in the country for a long period of time. Read more

Development Plan for Each Constituency

Posted by Equalizer

Let us all be positive, forward-looking and putting our hearts and minds to discuss with the AIM of IMPROVING Sarawak for ALL Sarawakians.

Dayakbaru:

Do you really believed that your current YBs for your area has a blue print of the development in your constituency. If NOT, do you think that having a development would be helpful for the overall progress of your constituency.

Another thought to ponder is – should we continue with our ad hoc approach towards development of the constituency and what benefit if any would it brings to the constituency.

Equalizer has nicely put forward the argument for the needs of a development blue print and even include a process of how to get it done.

By so doing – to my mind, development would be systematic, focus and subject to regular reviews would bring relevant and important development into the constituency. Read more

Malay Rights

By Shaik Rizal Sulaiman

Governing and demanding
The Malays are ‘technically’ in power governing the country but it is also this same controlling group that demands the right to correct economic imbalances and disparities for its own race.

Opportunities based on meritocracy

What does this say about the ‘majority governing’ Malay race for the last 50 years? I dare say that most Malaysians (regardless of race) below the age of 40 would like to see all opportunities be spread amongst those who deserve it on meritocracy.

We do not need the keris anymore to tell others to be careful of what they say and do because in the survival of the fittest, the keris is of very little relevance!

The ‘tempurung’ mentality
If we continue to hide under the ‘bumiputera’ tempurung as most Malays have been in the last 50 years or more, the catch-up game will just get harder and the gap wider. Read more

Chunto Speech YB Dayak

Taken from The Borneo Post

SRI AMAN:
Sri Aman MP Masir Kujat has warned the people to be on the alert for certain quarters with hidden agendas that throw allegations and accusations against the government.

Poison people’s mind

He lambasted such individuals as irresponsible because they only aimed to spread negative information and “poison the mind of the people”.

Filter every message and information

“I hope the people would filter every message or information given by certain people who say bad things about the government,” he said on Saturday at the closing of a ‘Mesra Rakyat’ programme at Rumah Lanjau Manggas, Kampung Pantu organised by the Sri Aman Community Development Department (Kemas). A Historian’s View of Sarawak helping to form Malaysia

First Visit to Kuching

WHEN I first arrived at Kuching airport in May 1983, I was ushered into the row for foreigners at the immigration checkpoint where my Malaysian passport was examined and stamped “Social Visit”, with an expiry date. I felt like an “alien” despite knowing full well that Sarawak was part of the Federation of Malaysia. My feelings of alienness were, however, short-lived, quickly overcome by the friendliness and warmth of the locals I encountered. Read more

Sabah and Sarawak not to be treated as Malay States

Taken from Malaysian Insider By Tunku Aziz

NOV 15 — By their very nature, we cannot escape the fact that no matter where in the world, federal arrangements will lead sooner or later to ugly, acrimonious, and bitter controversies and confrontations.

Sabah and sarawak complained of unequal partnership

The history of federations is littered with political stillbirths and abortions, and the Malaysian federation is beginning to show cracks with Kelantan, on at least two occasions, expressing unhappiness over the handling of oil revenues by the central government, and now Sabah, to a less extent Sarawak, complaining about not getting a fair crack of the whip in what they see as a hopelessly unequal partnership. Talk About What You Need To Do about Dayak.

Posted by Cina Chantong

I am watching the Dayaks quarreling over nothing. Don’t know if I should cry or sit back and laugh.

Waste Of Time

You quarreled over who is the writer (race, background, history, to a large extent I wonder if you wish to know who is her idol, what car is she driving, who she lives with etc). Waste of time.

You quarreled over who is more credible than who. Taib? Gomen? Your beloved MPs? CA? IbanLama? Dayaklama? Dayakbaru? Waste of time.

You quarreled over who should do what for you. Waste of time.

You don’t talk about what YOU should do for your race. Such a pity, such a shame on the vast Dayak talents. Read more
