As far as I know in my area Skim Sekuau a post of TR is not nominated by anybody or political party. It is always done in an election process within the voice of majority TUAI BILIK.

Take for instance, just recently it was happened to one longhouse in Skim Sekuau when their TR passed away, then his son wanted to take over his demised father post as a TR. But unfortunately, the longhouse folks didn’t agree with him to be a successor. Then the longhouse folks held an extra ordinary meeting to select who would be their right TR. It was done thru election process. Finally they elected somebody else whom they can trust and has potential to lead them in future.

Also last Sept 20, 2009 it was happened to myself when I was elected as a Chairman of Community Leaders (TR) Association for Ulu Oya Area.(Persatuan Ketua Kaum Kawasan Ulu Oya)
Honestly speaking, I have no intention for that post. I rather to become an ordinary member. But the time called, I have to accept. One part why I was happy because the process was done thru election amongst all the 54 TRs present at that time. It was no such political party nomination at this stage, particularly Skim Sekuau, Ulu Pakoh & Ulu Oya areas.

But the higher community leader posts such as Councillor, Penghulu, Pemanca and even Temenggong if there is (Currently no Temenggong post at my area – Selangau district) are mainly nominated by political party. Again I totally disagreed with this system.
It will be more fair, confident and relevant if all community leaders to be elected by all the people within that area. Believe me, rakyat elected leaders can represent his area more effective and efficient than leaders nominated by political party.
WHY??? Because he is the flavour & right choice of the Rakyat.

ba penemu aku, semua utai tu nyadi ketegal ari kitai Dayak empu. kitai ti meri kuasa kelalu lama agi urang ti enda patut bekuasa agi, urang ti udah buta laban pengeraja enngau diut. patut udah lama dibuai, diganti, ditukar laban semua idea deka ngemajuka bansa udah nadai agi, udah kering laban ti kelalu lama udah ‘berkhidmat’.

amat nyamai ga nyadi yb Dayak tu,belit ke mimit jaku pun bala urg rumah panjai alu arap meh amat meh bisi mai ai bia bebelas krek maya kempen maya meri projek.

They are paid through taxpayers money although most of them believe that they are paid by political parties as the method they were handpicked by politicians.

Of course ideally, inclusive of councillors and mayors they should be elected.Otherwise they should undergo similar interviews with those in the public civil service.

Another possible shortcoming is the fact that their decisions in the Native Courts could be BIASED and PARTISAN because of their extreme allegiances to their political masters.Since Native Courts are vital parts of our community’s legal system,and thus we are all in a very ackward position.Don’t you agree ?

Aku setuju bendar “Tuai raban bangsa mesti ka dipilih, ukai nengah cara Tuduh”.

Tang meh diatu, cara kitai Iban, mayuh agi nunda cara system Laut Malaya ka Beraja. Nambah ka nya, diatu POLITIC kelalu balat ngeruga, ngericau ADAT bangsa kitai.

Asal adat bangsa Iban, nadai system bertuduh tuduh enti milih Tuai/Kepala, Kitai Iban sigi ari kelia endang ngena cara bepilih. Nya kebuah nama nama pengawa ka dikerja di rumah panjai, Tuai Rumah ngagau nesau mai baum, berunding serta berandau. Ngambi ka chunto, enti ka bumai, sapa dipilih nyadi Tuai Burung, enti ka nubai mansai, kitai bepilih sapa nyadi ka Tuai.

Diatu mayuh cara orang POLITIC deka ngubah cara adat, pendiau pengidup bangsa kitai, tuju ia ngambi senang sida ka megai kuasa nya semampai bekuasa, kitai ka rakyat tu semampai setuju nama nama langur penemu sida ia. Sida ukai enda nemu, kitai Iban tu endang bangsa ka kering penemu, tusah ka di gempong, nya alai nyentuk ka sari tu kitai empai olih segempong.

Nya alai ba penemu aku Community Leaders mesti dipilih, bepilih ukai nengah cara betuduh tuduh. Kitai Iban kadang kadang kelalu taluk ka Kepala/Tuai, nya alai leboh YB niki rumah panjai kitai, semoa utai ka disebut ia di kumbai kitai amat, betul magang.

Jemah ela, cara appointed/betuduh tu nadai mai pemanah penguntung ka bangsa kitai, tang mai mayuh penanggul laban anak telesak kitai dudi ari ujung ujung baka Chapi ka di acuk orang ba idung, tarit orang kiba kanan sepeneka ati orang, nadai nemu ngadu ka cara diri empu, nganti orang belama lama.

Tu meh utai ti dikedeka orang, enggai meda bangsa kitai mangah, kering penemu, titih ka jako orang ka dipilih perintah. Laban orang ka dipilih perintah nya baka wakil petara, meri pengidup enda tau dilaban.

Dimenoa kitai ditu, ukai enda ditemu, dikelala sekeda bala tuai rumah enggau tuai bukai ka enda manah, tang agi meh dipecaya, dititih ka ngereja pengawa. Nama kebuah? laban nya meh cara ka udah dilatih orang betaun taun ka udah kena control kitai Iban ngambi enda ngelaban perintah.

nowadays it all make sense monkey also has a beautiful brilliant mind as shown in the animal planet one of astro channels. i wish the tribes of sarawak can follow suit of the monkeys, what i really meant is a paradigm shift of thinking and doing things.

The rakyat knew the capabilities of the leader they elected to lead them into wars and protect them from their enemies. They did not elect ‘sissy or half a man’ who would run away or immediately summit heart and soul to invading enemies, or sell the rakyats’ property for self gain or to save their own rotten skin.

Our penghulu in the Baram did not just punch but ‘sumpit’ children playing along the ruai. Rottan canning woman who got drunk. Threaten to confisticate the IC of those who question him and report them to the police. All those who refuse to let go their land to the invading companies are enemies if the govt. and therefore are also his sworn enemies too, including his relatives. His new found family members are those in the BN govt. To him Political relatives are more important then blood-relatives.

But when his sworn enemies came to talk about land rights and adat, he ran away and hid in the farm. We expected him to clarify his opinion and and maybe teach the lawyers some local adat regarding land matter. But lo …. he was nowhere to be seen. Some said they saw him hiding in the bush. The mosquitoes had a juicy feast.

Thats the kind of leader the BN want us to have. Cowards, ball-less good for nothing featherless parrots. These kind of people deserve no respect from us Dayaks. In the old days these people did not go to war, they stay behind serving the woman and children, feeding the chickens and the pigs under the longhouse. Shameful to be called leaders, stableboy.

So aku nadai jako maioh , nama ngenggai ke chara orang ke bekuasa diatu kitai mesti ngelaban lalu ngerebut kuasa ngerebut pengaya lalu ngalah ke orang ke bekuasa diatu. Akih Din, enti bakanya nadai tuju lah kita menua nya agi nyukong BN ngundi sida Jaboooo sida Ugah sida Musin sida Harden sida Masir. Tak bebai meh bala kita menua nya bebai ngundi party ke ngelaban BN lalu nyema perintah betukar nyangka ulih ga sida JBA mai penemu ngagai perintah PR ngenatai ke peminta bala kita ke deka ke padang bilun di menua kita dia. Nyema bisi padang bilun di menua Betong Sri aman nyamai ga alai kami datai meli buah kepayang. Enda pia akih??? Nadai tuju ga kitai nyukong party ke nadai mai penyamai mai penyenang ngagai kitai, betul akih????
