JUST MY THOUGHT FOR DAYABARU

Rectifier
DBs are not born-loser but a “rectifier” for Bansa Dayak. If DB has not voiced the “issues”; such issues would have been kept silent forever in the shelf by BN Government. Therefore the Bansa Dayak should thank DB.
DB works
DB has helped highlighting many issues just like in Lubok Antu and now the Penan’s issues and many others in which BN Government might have overlooked it or deny it or pretend it never exist.
KPI for YBs
DB is very interested to conduct KPI (key performance indicator) on the BN Government including its YBs so they can function well in the near future to benefits the Bansa Dayak or others in general and/or otherwise DB will help others who are more interested on the rakyat issues and relief them from functioning with another new government.
Openness
DB believed in “Openness”; all political parties, corporate sectors, individuals and NGOs are welcomed (regional and global).
Who We Are
DB wish to create new “initiatives” for Bansa Dayak to play domestic roles and form a global coalition of international, regional and community organizations engaged in conservation, research and development.
Together, we are working to encourage greater domestic/regional and global commitment and action on pro-poor tenure, policy and market reforms.
Promotion of Rights of Indigenous People
DB is very interested to facilitate members of the public particularly the Bansa Dayak for the purposes of protection and promotion of human rights, native rights and NCR Land Rights and others as it deem fit for “bansa kitai” in Malaysia.
Coalition
DB coalition intended to form by a group of core “Strategic Partners” around the world who conduct work in specific areas of their regional and thematic expertise.
These “Strategic Partners” would engage with a wide group of collaborators who participate in and support DB activities in Malaysia, Borneo and around the world.
Strategic Coalition
DB is a strategic coalition that goes beyond the traditional set of international development actors to involve a wide spectrum of organizations, each of which provides a critical perspective in the larger chain of actors necessary to advance “Change WE Must”.
Core Belief
DB is desirous on the followings:
1. To promote awareness of and provide education in relating to native rights, human rights, cultural rights, NCR Land rights, environmental rights, citizenship and voters rights.
2. To advise and assist our community, the NGO and the Government, and other International body particularly the United Nations, the World Indigenous Peoples Forum & Organizations and the World Bank Group in formulating legislation and procedures as well as to recommend the necessary measures to be taken.
3. To recommend to the Government with regards to the subscription or accession of treaties and other international instruments relating to the issues herein.
4. To inquire into complaints regarding infringement of Bansa Dayak rights and the rights of others too.
5. To undertake research by conducting programs, seminars and workshops and to disseminate and distribute the results of such research
6. To advise the government and/or relevant authorities in relation to complaints against them and to recommend appropriate measures to be taken
7. To study and verify any infringement of Dayak’s rights and human rights
8. To visit places of “issues” including detention center in accordance with procedures prescribed by laws relating to places of detention and to make necessary recommendations
9. To issue public statements on Bansa Dayak or native rights and human rights as and when necessary
10. To undertake appropriate activities as are necessary including the followings:
- It is possible to alleviate poverty, conserve forests and encourage sustained economic growth in forested regions. For this to happen, the rights of communities in forest areas must be strengthened. Forest peoples must have rights to forests and trees, rights to participate fully in markets, and rights to participate in the political processes that regulate forest use.
- The next few decades are critical and crucial. We are in an historic moment where there can be either dramatic gains or losses in the lives, rights, and well-being of forest peoples and in the conservation and restoration of the world’s threatened forests.
- It is clear that progress on the necessary tenure and policy reforms require constructive participation by communities, governments and the private sector. This will also require credible new data and analysis of forest tenure, policies and mechanisms for sharing knowledge.
- The two Millennium Development Goals focusing on poverty reduction and environmental sustainability will not be met in many landscapes unless forest tenure and rights are significantly reformed and strengthened.
- There are growing opportunities for forest peoples and rural communities to benefit from forest markets, and there are an increasing number of national actors and policymakers eager to share experiences.
11. Others as it deemed fit and necessary for uphold the “Rule of Justice”.
Conclusion:
Dayakbaru should aim to progress the Native Court which will be handled by my next article.

Dayak Baru must be brave to speak up their minds of cause you must have facts to support your views and give constructive comments.
Don’t be the YES man forever in your life stand for what you beliefs.
KEEP UP THE GOOD JOB
Good thoughts of yours Dr gearge,
How I wish this sort of thoughts would have come from an Iban Yb because it would be easier to pursue, more effective to achieve its desired goals and obtain government suppotr especially in area of research and development for the Dayak Iban.
Having said that it would be better for DBs to start the ball rolling without to wait for some kind of assistance. Our Ybs couls have iniatiated and started some of the thoughts years back. After akl, some YBs have been in the power for tens of years.
In respect of DB core beliefs, more cohesive form in the nature of DB discussion is obviously required. A more systematic and pragmatic approach ought to be considered if DBs are truly seriously in pursuing the Dayak interests. For instance,in area of research a team of DBS majoring in a particular must be formed to carry out the task. likewise with task of disseminating the information on the Dayak, an Infromation is a must.
Please be reminded that again, this is only my thought. The progress of DBs in discussing, promulgating, highlighting and protecting the Dayak issues initially come out with a thought. It has been the thoughts of Dr Jogn that has enabled him to set up this DB blog.
Therefore, there is nothing wrong with any kind of thoughts.
