Dear Mr Prime Minister, you have failed me.

This is not a letter to tell you where you went wrong. You should already know that by now and if you don’t, many will gladly bring you up to speed.

But this is a letter to tell you what you have done to an ordinary Malaysian like me.

I voted against your government in the last elections but when you came into power, I allowed myself a glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, I was wrong about you.

That, just maybe, this time, the perceived enemy would be an ally in disguise. That, just maybe, 1 Malaysia wouldn’t be the joke at which everyone laughed.

Change needs time and maybe, just maybe, that was what was necessary. So, against my better judgement, I let myself believe in possibilities.

Then racism reared its head and the moment of truth arrived in the form of cow-head protestors, BTN and the “Allah” issue.

You couldn’t have asked for more perfect opportunity to prove that you are more than just a string of clever words. It was your chance to leave a legacy by uniting the nation to stand up against the real enemies – ignorance and fear.

Instead you did nothing, and by doing that, you turned us against each other.

I’m sure you have your litany of reasons for acting the way you have but those reasons don’t interest me. All I know is that, when it really mattered, you made me feel like I didn’t.

When it came to delivering on your “People First” promise, you chose who those people would be.

When it came to “Performance Now”, you failed to see the sense of urgency.

You became everything you told us not to be. To me, you are nothing more than the wizard of Oz.

There was a time when I believed in this country. When I couldn’t imagine making a home anywhere else. When I was proud to hold a Malaysian passport. When I felt warmth each time I heard the pilot announce, “Welcome to Kuala Lumpur International Airport”. When I took pride in showing off my country to foreign friends who marvelled at how Malaysians lived so peacefully in diversity. Those days are gone.

So forget about how this will affect tourism and FDIs, and think instead about the damage it has done to an ordinary Malaysian like me.

You have made a mockery out of my trust, patriotism and faith. You have made me feel unwelcome in my own home. You have made me feel ashamed to be Malaysian.

My heart breaks at what you have done to my country. Then again, I’m not even sure if I can still call it my country anymore.

A total of 102 PAS members from Kampung Binjal, Pohon Tar here have joined Umno.

Kelantan Umno liaison chief Datuk Mustapa Mohamed regarded this as a good sign for the party in the next general election.

He added the move also showed that the people in the state were fed up with the PAS administration, which had become increasingly chaotic of late due to several arising issues.

    Tabi Kaban Bloggers,

NOt quite…….Najib has not failed us!!!!!!!!!

I suppose DB should be very happy now that PM and BN gomen announced the allocation of Setengah Juta or RM500,000.00 for the construction of house of worship at a new locality. Its proved once again that BN gomen is sensitive to the need of the people. SO how not to vote for BN in the coming state poll.

DL is now awaiting anouncement from PR or DSAI on how much they allocate for the reconstruction of the church.

    DB readers,

This is a time that tests the resolve of all religions for peace and mutual respect. We must remember that the God who we worship is in fact the same God, the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe.

With respect to the use of the word Allah, for example, it cannot be disputed that Arabic speaking Muslims, Christians and Jews have collectively prayed to God as Allah throughout the last fourteen centuries. While sensitivities over its usage have arisen in Malaysia, the way to resolve these conflicts is not by burning churches and staging incendiary protests but by reasoned engagement and interreligious dialogue.

Muslims must recall the memory of their own tradition’s remarkable commitment to understanding and coexistence with the People of the Book. Islam clearly grants respect to Christians and Jews. In the Quran’s second chapter, God says:

Say: O People of the Scripture! Come to a common word between us and you: that we shall worship none but God (Aal-Imran, 3:64)

And in the 29th Chapter He says:

And dispute not with the People of the Book but say “We believe in the Revelation which has come down to us and that which came down to you…our God [Allah] and your God [Allah] is One, and it is to Him we bow (al-Ankabut, 29:46)

Jesus is himself revered as one of the greatest prophets whose noble example should be followed. The Caliph Umar, who visited the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in 638 AD, was careful to ensure that the Muslims respect the sanctity of Christian places of worship. What then of our own Police’s hesitation to offer an assurance of safety and security for Malaysian churches?

    TK Said:

-It is so good that RM500K is given to the churh for construction of new church at a new locality. But it is not good to just give RM500K for that purpose without prior consideration to the “actual damage” suffered by the Christians. The Christians perceive it as a scheme to chase them away from the original place of the church. After all, it is not enough to build a new church in KL taking into cosideration the price of land & construction materials.

    Cheers,

I can see what is going to happen. From what was menyioned by two moderate Muslims against a shallow minded one last nite, I believe that God is going to work and more Muslims will be Christians in no time.

I had a chance to see the real them when I was in England. The ladies wore “tudung” in the first week there. In the second week, they left the tudung and wore T-Shirts and jeans. In the third week they already had white men as their boy friends. They even kissed in front of you. I remember Datuk Sulaiman Daud (Educ Minister) coming to England looking for 40 over lost Muslim girls.

They told me they were scared of their parents and Ustaz at home and when the oppotunity came their way they ran wild.

If only Ayah Pin and Azahari were born during Mohd’s time they would be considered as prophets too.
