Speak Up Borneo Ministers

IPOH, Jan 16 —

Did East Malaysia Cabinet members agreed to Nasri decision

DAP strongman Lim Kit Siang has asked all Cabinet ministers from East Malaysia to declare if they agreed with Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, Datuk Seri Nazri Aziz’s bid to strike a compromise by allowing only Christians in Sabah and Sarawak to use “Allah”.

The Ipoh Timur MP today slammed Nazri for his statement, which was front-paged in Kuching daily The Borneo Post yesterday, saying that his words made a total mockery of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s 1 Malaysia concept.

Divide and rule being by UMNO again

“It seems now we are having more and more segmentation and departmentalisation rather than 1 Malaysia,” Lim noted.

“I was struck by Nazri’s announcement because just a day earlier, our deputy prime minister (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) said, in his talk at the Oxford Islamic Centre, that there would be no more Allah contention in the future.

“I wonder what he meant by that?” he added.

UMNO Leadership are either changing rules or are confused on the issue

He questioned if, by making such a statement, Muhyiddin had meant that there would no longer be any “insensitive statements” made by both the home minister and the prime minister — such as those stating they would not object to any demonstrations over the “Allah” issue — which he said had caused the series of attacks on churches nationwide.

“Or did he mean that in the future, the home minister would never impose a ban on the use of the word ‘Allah’ like what happened in 2007?

“But now, looking at Nazri’s statement, it appears that the deputy prime minister probably meant different things,” said Lim.

Are we moving away from the 1 Malaysia concept

He said that all ministers, whether from Umno, MCA, MIC or Gerakan should speak up and voice their opinions on the matter.

“Do they agree with Nazri’s contention? Because if they do not speak up, they are only serving to move away from 1 Malaysia,” he said.

Government are not sincere on resolving the issue

Lim also accused the government of being insincere in talking about resolving the issue through an inter-religious conference or a dialogue.

“What Nazri said makes nonsense of the talk of resolving the matter through an interreligious dialogue.

Government enforcing their view on the people

“It appears that the government has already decided that the dialogue is not to find a solution to the controversy but to ensure that the government’s approach is accepted by all,” he said, adding advocating such a dialogue meant no pre-conditions should be set.

“All must be open, all must come without a pre-set mind, which does not appear to be the case, with Nazri’s statement,” he said.

Allah issue will cause violence – who say so?

Lim also lambasted Nazri for saying that the present spate of church attacks was proof that the use of the word Allah by non-Muslims would spur acts of violence.

“What he is doing is justifying the act and he is not contributing to a proper solution to the problem,” said Lim.

Nazri’s statement slams by the religious divide

Nazri’s statement, which was made during an interview with The Borneo Post has received flak from many parties from both sides of the religious divide.

Church ministers were quick to slam his words, saying that it was a ridiculous arrangement and undermined freedom of expression.

Jakim

The federal government’s highest Islamic body, the Islamic Development Department (Jakim) also maintained today that the “Allah” ban should affect all Christians in the country.

The problem need to be solved comprehensively

The department’s director-general Datuk Wan Mohamad Sheikh Abdul Aziz  said that by allowing Christians in East Malaysia to use the word, it would not solve the present controversy due to the migration of people from Sabah and Sarawak to the peninsular.

Menteri pak turut. When an UMNO`s minister makes a decision on any issue favaourable to all Malaysians, the Borneo Ministers will say, `The government is sensitive to the plights of the people.` BUT, if the decision is controversial, the Borneo ministers all dump, sealed-lips.

    Bala kaban ditu,

Anang nyampur isu Allah enggau politik. Allah nya for the muslim; YHWH isn’t Allah and Allah isn’t YHWH. The statement of TS DPM and Aki Nazri maybe contradict. I think TS DPM only sees it as valid in WM but Aki Nazri doesn’t mind that the EM can use it. But, Allah should not be use by the christians. Aki Nazri should not let the term on the loose in EM with the intention to fish the votes in the next election. The christians have won the battle but please don’t refer your god as Allah anymore. It may look like our God is on our side to call him Allah but maybe a satan has played a role in that decision. It’s really tricky when election is round the corner. The court gave the verdict but the satan burn the houses of God for such a decision. Without the solid support from EM, the BN can easily be weaken by the opposition. Allah issues seems the right time to gain sympathy from the christian voters in the states.

The dumb dayak YB cannot lead you to a better future. They are not a good leader, not a fighter, not a warrior and never a Dayak Champion. They’re nothing.Don’t ever dare to dream of something great to happen if this YB is still around. They don’t dare to go to Kamunting to fight for the right of the Dayak. Why call him paramount chief? He don’t deserve that title.Parai dumb chief is better title to call him.

The empty can will make more sound and this is DB. Our Dayaks YB’s would rather settle things quietly and through proper reconcilation and face to face. This is more effective and civilise in manner. You can see now the issue was settled through our Yb’s direct talk and not DB’s none ending politicking.

  16. Dr. John Brian Anthony on January 18th, 2010 12:17 pm

oh YES – empty can indeed my friend. We are not the elected representatives of the people. BN leaders are mandated and to be held accountable to the “boss”. In this case the “boss -also the electorate” wanted their elected representatives to speak out on their behalf. Then the YBs better speak out because if you don’t you might not be re-elected.

I learned that YBs are scared of Taib – why so? Are you after your own personal interest or are you acting on behalf of the goods of the people? If you act on behalf of the people, then they is nothing you should be afraid of.

I am starting to wonder why do we built such expansive Dewan Undangan Negeri and parliament when our elected representative do not choose to speak.

The elected representatives should not hide behind their lack of knowledge or understanding of the issue by saying that we prefer to work behind the scene. YBs are front liner leadership in the State and you cannot afford to work behind “mosquito net” and your “wife sarong”. You need to stand up and be seen and heard in your opinion. Then the Voters would know where you stand and the direction you are leading them to.

Why are our YBs so helpless and pathetic most of the time?

  17. Ugly msian on January 18th, 2010 12:27 pm

Can someone out there, probably a computer wizard, serah out for Dayak Lama and tell me his identity and whereabout so I may rest my case with him?

  18. Pengajar Udah Pencen on January 18th, 2010 12:47 pm

    Ugly msian;

What are you trying to do ? Do you mean you want to have a ‘ face to face meeting in an effective and civilised manner’ with Dayak Lama a.k.a Changop 4540 ?

May be you should get a greenlight from Yandgdikasihi first.Probably if you are lucky, you could get a welcome dinner/lunch with EMPURAU DISHES on the menu. Anyway good luck to you.

  19. Dyaks on January 19th, 2010 10:06 am

Dayaklama: “Our Dayaks YB’s would rather settle things quietly and through proper reconcilation and face to face. This is more effective and civilise in manner.”

–Yeah right Dayaklama for UMNO also quietly allocate Federal BN big projects to Dayak BN leaders to pacify, slience them or else project ali baba quick money juta-juta RM cut-off lah. Very effective and civilised manner to bribe off Dayak BN leaders by UMNO indeed, eh!
