Rural Infra-structure Projects: Truth or Just Fishing for Votes

Taken from The Malaysian Insider

RM$2.1 billion

The Rural and Regional Development Ministry will spend about RM2.1 billion to provide rural basic infrastructures in Sabah and Sarawak under the National Key Result Areas (NKRA) this year.

Its Minister, Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal, said the allocation also involved the completion of last year’s projects to build new roads and provide water and electricity supply.

RM928 million would be allocated to Sabah and RM1.2 billion for rural areas in Sarawak.

Of the total, he said, about RM928 million would be allocated to Sabah and RM1.2 million for rural areas in Sarawak.

“This is part of the government’s efforts to intensify rural development in Sabah and Sarawak within the next three years in line with the Prime Minister’s aspiration to see that the two states are moving forward.”

Who are the manufacturers and Suppliers – any Dayak company?

He said this after meeting Sabah and Sarawak manufacturers and suppliers involved in the NKRA’s infrastructural projects for rural areas in Sabah and Sarawak here today.

Mohd Shafie said for NKRA’s rural road projects, Sabah was allocated RM134.9 million to complete 40 of last year’s projects and another RM56.8 million to implement 36 new projects, while Sarawak was allocated RM146 million to complete 14 of the existing projects and RM352.3 million to implement 62 new ones.

For NKRA’s rural electricity supply projects, Sabah would get RM332 million to complete 353 existing projects and RM81 million to implement nine  new ones, while Sarawak would get RM236 million to complete 281 of last year’s projects and RM56 million to implement 10 new projects, he said.

Water Supply Projects

The minister said Sabah and Sarawak would also receive of RM183 million and RM211 million respectively, to implement rural water supply projects.

“Under the Housing Aid Programme, RM114 million was allocated to Sabah this year to build 2,853 new houses and RM25 million to repair 2,135 existing houses.

Who is the contractor to build new houses in Sarawak?

“As for Sarawak, we have set aside an allocation of RM133 million to build 3,328 new houses this year and RM29 million to repair 2,491 existing ones.

“Our target is to build 50,500 houses nationwide over the next three years under the programme,” he said.

    Panjai Runding,
I really agree with you. So far, nothing has changed a lot done for the Sarawak since after the last election. So, how come we trust of their sweet words. They know, Sarawak state election is just around the corner, so they try their best to advertise their sweet propaganda to the peoples.
This is just a normal tartic from BN, to fish the votes. All these are bullshits at all.

“Rural Infra-structure Projects: Truth or Just Fishing for Votes”

    ………………………………………….

Yes, They are truly promises deviced to fish for rural votes, esp the Iban Monkeys in the longhouses whose voting is normally done in favour of the BN & YDK without using any of the five senses.

Rural develoment projects are merely promises made to reinforce the BN claim that Sarawak and Sabah are indeed their Fixed Deposits in so far as politics is concerned.

The government is talking about millions and millions worth of project but at the end of the day which material the most, who will become instant millionaires? How many Ibans will there be after the full implementation of the projects?

Dbs hate to dispute the final beficiaries of them all but are having a nagging feeling that they are all channelled into the pockets of the BN cronies, people like DL, MJC, Detective Deo, JJM, Anderson Melintang and so forth.

The poor Iban folks are actually receiving peanuts compared to what the cronies could get. So you see, through these rural projects,YDK and cronies are getting a couple of thins at any one time; votes for the Bn and fincancial rewards that come back into their pockets.

Remember 60% of the amount is likely to be redirected for other purposes or areas, swindled and/or misappropriated by those in authority. This is for a fact!

Come on Ibans in rural areas, please get your thinking right so that together we are not going to be deceived and cheated again and again.

    Chang we must.

    Cheers…

People in Kapit would like to know about the latest developments and progress of the KAPIT-SIBU link road as announced by Shafie Apdal last year.Base on reliable resources there is no master plan at all with the authorities concern. Will Kapit people again being fooled by that empty promises ?.Do they have to wait for 50 years for just about 100 km in distance.Taib used out-dated reasons such as high cost, rough reliefs, small populations and no economic values for the road is totally unacceptable.Dr.James lamented that it would badly affect the business of already rich express operators is a total nonsense.Who is he looking after, the majority poor or the minority rich ?.Irresponsible and selfish comments. Keuntungan Didahulukan,Rakyat Diketpikan,DearJB, please post this simple sharing and views in your blog so as it can read extensively by others. Thanks, i salute all your efforts.Teruskan Perjuangan ini tanpa penat lelah ini demi kebajikan semua rakyat.
