BN YB lost their freedom for thought and hiding behind unjust law

I still remember my immediate thought when I read this article ( Dr. Rundi and the NCR definition) in Sarawak Update.
Dr Rundi seems like a decent chap. I won’t want to pass judgement prematurely about his character.
Rundi is fundamentally wrong
But in the case of his statement on the difference between Temudak and NCR land, I think he is more than fundamentally wrong: he exhibited the same mental affliction that affect even the seemingly brightest young Dayak.
Many YBs and even those who call themselves educated Dayak, with doctorate degrees no less, often refer to the law, as if its the final arbiter of all debates.
In the court of law, yes – the law is the only means by which disputes can be settled.A judge would pass judgement in accordance with the reading of the law.If the law says anyone who get caught stealing will have his hands cut off, the judge will have other interpretation but would pass judgement according to the letter.
The law is not justice.
Example: The Nazis have laws, too and that law was used to conduct the Holocaust. In the same way, the Afrikaners used their Apartheid law to institutionalise racism in South Africa.
There is something above the law, that the good Dr Rundi, may have failed to fathom, in spite of his educational background.
And that is justice.
As the American legal system would describe it:
The relationship between justice and the law, justice is blind, so it need to be guided by the law and the legal practitioners.
Justice is paramount. The end in mind. The law is the means to get there.
There is no difference from temuda and NCR land
As a YB, Dr Rundi should think not of the difference Temudak and NCR land, but whether the law itself is just.
Is it just to proclaim that Dayaks do not have the legal right to be the rightful owner of land, that was theirs before the formation of Malaysia itself ?
That they cannot get title to the land, unless they surrender it for big commercial farming ? And even if they do surrender, it shall be at the sole discretion of government agencies on when&if the land title will be released ?
Is the government just by not issuing land title and demolish Dayak long houses?
Is it just to let the system, demolish houses of helpless citizens – and even to mouth something that the judge, land and survey, Tatau land etc were only following orders in accordance to the law ?
How must leadership behave on justice.
A sign of leadership is the willingness to stand firm on the side of justice even when a flawed law constructs had been used to justify the oppressive action.
Again, law is not an end unto itself. A free man, must use his liberty to think and to establish a moral stand on issues, without having to memorise the law.
The YBs, in position of leadership – should set exemplary example in the exercise of personal freedom. An unjust law, must be replaced – and absolutely doesn’t have to be revered,in the manner that Dr Rundi had refer to it.
Many Dayak YBs are mentally trapped.
And never mind Dr Rundi. He is not alone in being mentally trapped. So many of our brightest Dayak minds, are also incapable of thoughts besides those that that been pre-programmed into them through the school system and mass media. So powerful is the steady diet of social programming through RTM, that it had given birth to the famous quote “Anang Ngelaban Perintah”.
The Dayak psyche has been molded by successive colonialism to be entraped. “Barang ko nuan meh Tuan” then and “Anang Ngelaban Perintah” today.
Those who still expound such stance today,are part of that collective paralysis. The task for those who desire freedom for these Dayak, is huge.
Because although many knows what it means to be physically free, few would have the courage.
It takes a lot of courage to be free.
I spoke to 2 Tuai Rumah. Both are typical Iban gentleman. Soft spoken, well versed in the Iban culture and the type that would take personal responsibility for their nembiak.
But on the simple question of whether they would vote against the perintah, both express fear at the reprisal. “Tusah kami enti di temu ngelaban perintah”. When asked, how so ? They would express fear at not getting their allowance, and the fertilizer subsidy.
I know. Many educated Dayak, would agree with that position.
I don’t. Not because I want them to slavish vote for the opposition. Thats not the issue altogether.
The issue, they are not free to elect their representative.They would succumb to the inducement and the punishment. I fear sorry for them. They don’t have the courage to be free.
Why use nick name in this blog – is it out of FEAR?
Similarly, many who blog here – out of fear, would use nickname.Yes, just like the Tuai Rumahs above, you are scared of what would happen to you as well. You can be dragged to the police station for questioning. Who knows, your boss could be reading your post, and have you fired. There is a sense that BN sympathisers and elites would practise Baathist policies, to secure their seat in power.
Is this what we want for the country,for our descendants ? Do we want to live in fear or be free ? Do we want the present BN culture to continue ?
We must continue to fight for our democratic freedom
At the crux of it: the freedom for the rakyat is what those folks in PR are trying to fight for.The Malay folks got out of UMNO, to be free of the UMNO elite domination in business and politics and the culture of reward and punishment.
DAP has been pursuing democratic principles, of freedom and democratic rule. PAS sought out the freedom to practise a principled Islamic governance.Parti Socialist Malaysia team up with PKR, as it believe in multi-racial society is the means to liberate the rakyat.
The Dayak ADAT must be uphold
Hence, I always maintain that the ultimate political struggle for Dayak, is the struggle to be a free people, once again. To have courage to stand for our rights. Think of the courage of a young Iban, deep in the jungle – all by himself. Then he would set out his rudimentary stone tool and start clearing the jungle, after a manggol ceremony. At the end of the year, the longhouse folks would marvel at the size of his umai, and how his children and uchu icits later, would continue to farm the land. They had made peace with the spirit, and had stake a claim to the land for their descendant.
Dr. Rundi may have lost his freedom for thought
Then, once again, wake up to what Dr Rundi had just said. Don’t blame him. Educated as he is, and even though Taib had bestowed on him his YB status, lets not forget he may have lost his freedom of thought, a long time ago. The question is what you will do to regain yours ? Then you can help Dr Rundi, to think like a free man. So can begin to understand the case of Nor Nyawai a little bit better.

it might be true, i meant the accusation that DS anwar is indeed has, has, mating(in a more honorable word)_ with mr. saiful but not to the extent of producing a cub, or it may be a fabrication to nail him down. anyway i will leave it to the court of law for the verdict, or may Manang Empangau can shed some light in regard to this sensational matter, through his the infamous Batu Ilau, though unofficially.

come the next SE/GE most probably or by majority the rakyat,sorry Doc, of kemena will cast their vote on him. this is particular true based on the past record, that the rakyat still loved this present BN government but closed their one eye for the candidate.

Nay!Dr stephen may retain his seat because Modern Iban Prototype has indeed identified that there are too many monkeys in the seat.They might be urban, semi-rural or jungle monekys, when they cast their votes all they see is the dangling carrot( BN promises +++ ).How’s that? it nice to hear from you. knowingly known that the monkeys are all around and it is hard and illegal to terminate them in a cruel way, so the only effective known solution is? wait a minute, these monkeys are attracted to the “Dangling Carrot” oh, how i love these words by Batulawi, it keeps me smile when i think of these words and plus the monkeys.
back to the effective solution just now is, to EDUCATE these monkey, through a HARD way. tell the monkey in their own LANGUAGE that the carrot is ROTTEN only yesterday. there will be no more dangling carrot but dignity,freedom,equality and a modern tools for the monkey to embark on new life in this brave new world.

The trial has just started. Don`t prejudge the judiciary. Wait for the verdict at the end of trial. Most of the Malaysians follow the court proceedings through mainstream media.

It is sad if we equate Dayak’s freedom with Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim. It is sad that we can’t see injustice before our very eyes – with or without Anwar Ibrahim.
One faction treats BN as the saviour ignoring the fact of 46 years of uninterrupted governance and the cries of the Dayaks. Another treats Anwar Ibrahim as the saviour too, ignoring the fact he is just another politician.
The present crop of BN leadership in Sarawak has failed the Dayaks. That is a fact. No, the BN leadership has been a success but not to the:
• Dayaks who cries for Mykad, food, drinking water (how many lorries of food sent to Penans by Catholic church?).
• Roads almost non-existence, even existing ones are in sad state.
• jobs almost non-existence (30,000 Ibans in Johore),
• projects to cronies, not completed in time, and always added with additional cash (Penrissen Prison, Durin Bridge are good examples).
• corruption rampant with 60% of allocate funds not towards the target (MACC said so),
• Dayaks less than 5% of government service, government departments, employing hundreds of people but has only 2, 3 Dayaks.
• School teachers are being replaced by W Malaysians, leaving locals without jobs. (Poor William Ghani Bina barked but nobody listened).
• The forest is destroyed, rivers polluted, fish disappeared (what killed the floating fishes in Kapit?)
• JVs on NCR land resulted in over 100 court cases. Longhouse people cry, literally. Government lost court cases and are appealing again and again, using tax payer (Rakyat) money and resources to fight the Rakyat. (Recently Mr Middle said the “government will appeal if it loses court cases.” Uji ngena duit iya empu ga.)
The above are facts. No amount of denial can erase them –whether Anwar Ibrahim is guilty or not has nothing to do with them. And it is also fact that the present BN leaders either denied them, brushed them as frivolous or just think they are creation of the opposition.
Opposition is their creation. If BN had been fair, who wants to read and write in this blog? If my children can get scholarships (6As and above), would I be involved here? If my relatives are paid their sawit JV dividends, would I be found in this blog? If my rivers are not greasy, my forest destroyed, would I come here? If my relatives can enter Teacher’s college would I spend time here? Who created these problems? OPPOSITION?? Puh….
We come here because of INJUSTICE seen and done – not because of Anwar Ibrahim.

Numpang through this blog for his concern and kind heart to the Dayak community esp.in assisting SDNU obtaining urban land for its buildings and also grave yard land.

i agreed with you ES. it has nothing to do with datuk seri anwar ibrahim what have befalled upon the ibans/dayaks.
what datuk seri anwar did with his personal life has nothing to do with the condition of the dayaks today.
i think you are right again ES, the present BN government has done their best in helping the ibans/dayak BUT not to the EXPECTATION of the beHOLDERs.
i also think it is a high time for the dayaks/ibans to DEMAND for a change,
yes, of course Change We Must, but then again, most dayaks/ibans prefer to be a PASSENGER plays passive for some safety reasons and doing nothing, and some are watching and waiting for the dangling carrot to fall. others “tunggu dan lihat” and a few handful know and realise the situation but give so little impact. well i guess the door of success is ajar and the hope is not so dim.

Sadly, many of our dayak Ybs and leaders have cultured “herd mentality”. They are not honourable enough to speak their minds. But then, why should they speak their mind when they can rob the state coffer and enrich themselves? $$$$ speaks. As I have said before, they will not hesitate to sacrifice their relatives for the sake of $$$$.
To hell with these leaders! We need to re-educate ourselves and stand up united for our principles….OUR LAND IS OUR SOUL and nobody can steal it from us! Not this generation or even the next!

To restrict the comments from experts in their own fields will defeat one of the purposes of this blog.
I duess we are all here giving our comments so that we can exchange views on issues at the heart of the whole Dayak community particularly the Ibans.
While DBs may want to give their opinions, it would not be wise to listen and share the oppoding views from others. Thus, Unggal Dayaklama is very welcomed here!
It is not proper for us just come up with comments without inviting others to come up with theirs as well. It is rather autocratic.
From thereon, we evaluate whose views are acceptable and applicable to solve the Iban issues.
Therefore, the idea of restricting the experts only to give expert knowledge in this blog can be put aside.

DURIAN RUNTUH, as they says….How not to vote for BN gomen during the state polls?
Sarawak is getting an ang pow windfall from visiting federal ministers, with the amount reaching more than RM4bil, and still counting.
The bonanza seems to be getting bigger by the month due to the frequency of “courtesy calls” from these leaders.
Ordinary folk are looking at these signs as a clear indication that a state election is approaching.
These funds are meant for federal projects stretching from Lawas in the northernmost tip of Sarawak to Kuching in the southernmost end of the state.
They include construction of schools, clinics, community Internet centres, bridges, roads and water supply projects. Among the funds received so far:
• Jan 21 – Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin approved RM50mil for a new school in Tutoh-Apoh in Miri to replace the one damaged by floods;
• Jan 28 – Information, Communications and Culture Minister Datuk Seri Rais Yatim announced a RM470mil allocation to build 203 telecommunication towers, 37 libraries, six community IT centres and two IT centres for disabled children in Kuching; and
• Jan 30 – Health Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai declared a RM114mil allocation for a bigger hospital complex after visiting Lawas Hospital.
Also on Jan 30 in the Limbang district, Rural and Regional Development Minister Datuk Shafie Apdal promised RM100mil to build houses for the hardcore poor and rebuild old ones.
He also approved RM20mil to rebuild a network of roads from Limbang town to Ulu Limbang and the construction of a new water treatment plant in Batu Danau.
The next day, Shafie went to Sibu Division where he made known that RM3.7bil had been allocated for the construction of rural roads, piped water supply projects and homes for the poor.
On Monday, Shafie visited Kapit Division and revealed that a RM1.8mil micro-hydro-electric project was in the offing for Baleh district.

Sida rumah Nor tu bisi kes pasal tanah tu di mahkamah. Apin putus chara nya. Dinga dinga aku udah menang sida suba, tang perintah kitai tu ngelaban baru, ngapil. Ngapil tu ke apin putus.

I was being informed that their Lawyer,Mr Baru Bian or the longhouse folks has not been informed or served with a notice much earlier.Be it from the Land&Survey Department or from Court order
They only being issued with merely a Blanket Order from a Court Interpreter which have been “ACTING” like a lawyer on the very day that their longhouse were being demolished.I also has been informed that the groups of Police,Land&Survey personnel has arrived as early as 4 am with their bulldozers,some source saying that even some road which led to their longhouse has been BLOCKED by the Police too during the DEMOLITION

……the story does not end there raja merom, in my personal life, i ‘ve failed in love and deserted 4 times. may be or partly due to my physical appearence, plus one of my upper limb is deformed.
