Is there any progress in Baram?

Lihan / Jacob Sagau / Slyvester Entri Progress Report
According to Lihan, there is much progress in Baram. I try to recalled some familiar names from Baram – the late Luhat Wan, Kebing Wan, Balan Seling, Edward Jeli, Jacob D, Slyvester Entri, Harrison Ngau – Temenggong Oyong Lawai Jau etc.
The projects:
1. School at Long Bedian especially for Penan, in addition two other schools namely SMK Tutoh Apoh and SMK Tinjar
2. Klinik desa at Pusat Pertumbuhan Desa (RGC) Long Lama is 50% completed
3. 14 kms road from Ulu Teru to Long Lama completed last December.
The value of resources taken and money given for development is way out of balance in Baram
Lihan seems completely satisfied with this development. Do Dayakbaru think that this development is fair to the amount of timber that the State government has extracted from the Baram area. I must say that the value of timber extracted from Baram is worth billion. This billion goes to the Chinese cronies of BN. How much money has been given for development of Baram by the government in the last 46 years. Government memang goyang kaki tidak buat apa2.
Much job in Baram
I am not going to run Baram development down but I doubt any serious source of employment is available in Baram. Is it from the BN plantation areas? Timber is gone and now the land in Baram is gone to plantation – is there enough development for Baram?
Dam in Baram
I think Lihan is talking about the job generated by the construction of the dam. If there is really a lot of job associated to the dam then ask yourself this question – why is Lubok Antu so quiet despite having the Batang Ai dam.
The government is not telling the truth to Baram people. BN leaders wanted the timber from the dam areas to fill up their pocket.
Supporting Industries and Services
Is there an intensive industrialization plan created for Baram. The various industries – as a start the wood based processing, furniture, logistics, inland port, warehouses, workers housing estate must have been seen by now as a result of dam construction. This industry will benefit from cheaper electricity and local will have jobs in factories and sawmill to support export.
If the above thing is happening or has been plan – ( not announce yet I believed) then the dam might work. Otherwise, it is another “rape” of natural resources from Baram and Baram is not getting development that reflect its contribution from natural resources in Baram area to the local economy in the area. That being the case, Baram will remain backward and poor.
It is a story of all the richest taken by someone else and leave non for native Baram people. Why is the government munoh rakyat sendiri. Is this the governmnet that we want and need? Is this government serious about the progress of its people? Do the politicians knows what they are doing.
BN is giving poor services to the Baram areas
I heard that Jacob almost never go back and visit his own long house. But maybe the job of Deputy Minister is very busy. Nevertheless Joseph Salang goes back to his area at least twice a month – but then maybe Joseph salang is not working as hard as Jacob. Who knows?
Conclusion
Baram development is grossly short change by the government to the people of Baram. Jalan Lapok is just ONE example.
Toyang – Change WE Must by giving our vote to other group / person but not BN.

Marudi is the District Headquarters. Any trunk road links Marudi town to Miri? No. If there is any, it is logging track. 100 years backward in term of infra-structure development in Baram district as compared to West Malaysia. Thousands of the natives have no birth certificates and mycards in this district.
This is what BN wants. Millons of timber resources came from Baram…but little come back to the people
Well BN had done great job by putting one Baram/Belega son to high position in the gomen…Let’s see what will happen to this area in the next 5 years. If nothing change, well, we all know what is BN agenda.
Yes Baram is one of the most developed District in Sarawak.In Kuching,Sibu,Miri Bintulu and of course Mukah we have many 4-5 Stars Hotels.But in Baram we have MULU HOTEL a 5 Star.
But unfortunately the whole of Gunung Mulu area has been gazetted as Wild Life sanctuary and World HERITAGE SITES at the expense of the Berawan NCL/NCR ancestral lands.Berawan are Dayaks like all of us.
But who owns the resort there,??…You know I know lah.!!!!Another land grabbing.What a pity of these Dayak Berawan.
Baram ..ah just like Kapit lah.
How many metric ton of timber float down the Baram river? How many logs are shipped to Japan monthly? How many nightclubs entertained Japanese buyers in Miri EVERY WEEK? Then the final question: How many millionaires have been created by the timber extracted from Baram?
There are so many millionaires, from all races, created from Baram. Some build big companies. Some own public companies. Some own homes in London, Melbourne.
But the real Dayaks from Baram are still very poor. They were kuli in the 70’s. Today they are still kuli. Tomorrow, with timber fully extracted – what will they be? Ah… what a fair and just government we have!!!
Cut and paste, find & replace Baram with Kapit.
That’s how be end politicians feed their cronies n fill their own pockets. Kasih amai ka bala kitai di Baram…maioh bedau mencelak runding…kelalu udu taluk ka be end.

aku selalu kelut-kelut sebelah daerah baram..jalai marudi-miri enggau miri-long lama patut dah bertar sepenuhnya..jalai ka diatu semina wujud dalam tahun 60-an suba..so arinya kitai nemu berapa jauh baram and sarawak tinggal pemansang..
I don’t know how to describe BARAM anymore!!!. Look like now is winter(dust). Just drive along Lapok road ,you will see the 150 million repaired country road.We should convert it Texas county ranch.. can ask the local country band playing at Lapok instead of the Ship or Upis siti nya.Make sure everybody use cowboy head, because the gravel/stone might be flying from the road into your ranch. SO… Where are we heading??? Think of your future… CHANGE MUST / HAVE TO happen NOW OR NEVER..

Patut nuan anakmit Chak, enda nemu reti megai perintah, pama kitai megai perintah kitai mesti ngadu semua menoa, semua rakyat. SMK Tutoh Apoh ti suah kena ai Bah or banjir dah lama di disemaya YB Lihan Jok sejak dia berdiri jadi YB kerana dia adalah bekas Pengetua disana tetapi sehingga kini janji tinggal janji.
SRK School ba Long Bedian is not for the Penan but for the Kayan. YB Lihan is from Long Bedian majority are Kayan. Thy are not Penan who are stealing on the Penan alocation Project for the YB @ Kayan selfish benefit/profit only.
Projek Pembangunan yang lain 2x dan sebagainya sepatutnya dah lama perlu dah disiapkan tetapi ditanggohkan sehingga ke hari ini. Pm Najib buat janji 2x kosong semasa masalah Ekonomi dunia kini. Semua Rakyat harus sedar Kerajaan tiada Duit jika tak percaya tanya saja Jabatan 2x dan Pejabat Kerajaan berkenaan Peruntukan Kewangan tahun ini sangat sedikit/banyak dipotong.PM/CM/BN berbohong dan menipu Rakyat sehingga sanggup berjanji Bilion 2x Juta 2x RM Projek untuk Sarawak adalah omong kosong kerana Pilihan Raya dah dekat. Darimana mereka dapat Duit beBillion 2x,Bejuta 2x tak ada. Sejak dahulu kita tahu YB/MP/Menteri BN berbohong,menipu dan berjanji kosong kepada kita orang Dayak Sarawak mengenai Satus Bumiputra,Tanah Adat NCRL,Biasiswa,Agama,Bantuan Orang Miskin, Pekerjaan Awam etc. Sekarang adalah masanya kita bangun dan harus sedar dan buat Undi Protes pada Pemilihan Raya akan datang untuk menghukum Kerajaan BN.
