Constant electricity disruption
KAPIT: Locals have been suffering constant electricity supply disruptions for nearly a month due to faulty generators.Although a generator was sent to replace the ageing one, it too is not in working order. It is understood the ‘new’ generator, sent from Mukah, had not been used six months prior, and technicians have found many problems.
What is SESCO doing?
It is currently undergoing further testing. Locals are distressed over the inadequate electricity supply, blaming relevant agencies for not effectively handling the issue.
“Indeed it is ironic that despite Kapit’s extremely rich energy resources in hydropower and coal reserves, the people here have to suffer power shortages in the 21st century,” said a civil servant.
Government could not even provide basic amenities after 47 years – yet the log is almost finish
“While the government may be proud of numerous development programmes here, the very basic amenities, such as electricity, are not sufficient.
“The planning must be more sensitive to local needs because we are paying the same tariff,” he added.
A woman who sells home-made ice cream said she is losing her source of income due to the power disruptions.
While a housewife from Taman Siew Gin, Jalan Bletih complained that her house is like an oven.
The same old excuse from the Government
Meanwhile, Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department Larry Sng said Sesco Bhd senior management from Kuching has assured him that another generator will arrive soon.
He urged Sesco to publicise any electricity shutdown periods so people can take appropriate measures.
Where is performance and people first in this scenario
The affected housing estates include those along Jalan Selirik, Jalan Ulu Selirik Bypass, Jalan Bukit Goram and Jalan Bletih.

The Government built road to Murum but not to Kapit. Is this one of Taib’s political strategy to bring down YB Alex linggi down? Who knows, it can happen especially from a personal who has so many personal agenda in politics.
It is sad to see Kapit treated in a bad way, no road, poor electricity supply, high cost of goods, poor source of income etc. The majority of people in Kapit are Iban, maybe that can be another reason for the Government to ignore the daily needs of the people in Kapit. You don’t agree with me, it is alright but Kapit really is a forgotten town in Sarawak.

If you all remember history, one of the signatories for the formation of Malaysia came from Kapit. It is really a big irony.
After 47 years of Malaysia being formed, all other towns where other signatories came from had been very well developed as compared to 47 years ago. But what happen to Kapit. It is almost the same with 47 years ago….still need to reach Kapit by the old same Rajang river.
So kaban….I just wonder how this signatory feel if he is still alive….

I just found out Sesco is corrupted. From top to bottom. All they want is KOPI O money. This really stinks ! Spread the word ! Sesco is corrupted. Can they deny ? Yes, but not for too long.

Simple answer MUNDUR = INCOMPETENCY of the supposedly ‘leaders’ who are just pawns for the big guns.
Kapit is so rich with natural resources, yet, after years of MERDEKA, still INACCESSIBLE by land transport. SAD and SO DEMEANING TO ALL SARAWAKIANS. But that’s a fact. So Dr. JJ Masing, you need to explain to the people if you are a TRUE leader of the people.

1. Who were the leaders there if NOT the same people who are there now? Their names may change, but they are the same people.
2. What did they do for the past 47 years? There are more than the fingers on you two hands – I mean, the number of millionaires from Kapit. These millionaires are also the political leaders from Kapit. These millionaires arised from timber in Kapit District.
3. The problem of Kapit is not just today. It is the precipitation of years of neglect, the result of personal interests.
4. If Kapit residents grumble now – I may be harsh in my judgment, but I want to say – you deserve it.
5. If JJM is retained in the coming SE – Kapit will remain as it is. Don’t forget his interests are: The Express boat operators and the evolvement of Mat Rempits (he said so publicly).

KAPIT KAPIT, kesian tidak terhinggalah Kapit. 47 tahun sudah Merdeka orang lain entah dimana, tetapi KAPIT terus Pekan KOBOI, HIDUP SEGAN MATI TAK MAHU. Orang Iban membawa merdeka dengan Malaya dari Kapit, Iban kaya raja juga dari Kapit tetapi Kapit macam tersepit tidak kemana-mana, KENAPA?
