Look at what Tun M is saying. It is all about Malay rights in section 153. The rights of the native of Sabah and Sarawak within the same clause is entirely forgotten. PERKASA never did mentioned the natives and therefore do not acknowledged their existence.
In PBB, PRS and SPDP are the Dayak of Sarawak that are supporting BN. Does this mean that these Dayak who are supporting BN are wasting their time for the community or are they supporting BN for personal gain. As far as Tun M and PERKASA is concerned, the Dayak is a non entity in the eyes of “Malay”. If that is so, Dayak should withdraw support from BN.
Do you wonder why you see no dayak holding important post in the Federal and State Civil service. Dayak is nothing in Malaysia and when it comes to Sarawak Dayak must be controlled by the Government.
How do you control the Dayak?
Give them title and buy their leaders with money and small businesses. Keep the Dayak poor so that they cannot create high expectation in their life. Grab the Dayak land so that by the time they know the value of land they have very little left. Slow down Dayak in education because the lesser educated the Dayak are it would be easier to keep them away from the truth.
Are our current Dayak leaders part of this plan to keep the Dayak poor? My answer is YES. The DayakMinisters and elected representatives did not implement any program to increase the income of rural Dayak. The Ministers and YBs gave MRP – which wil never contribute to increase of income for Dayak.
Don’t give Dayak their individual land title. The Government by so doing take away the opportunities from Dayak to develop their economy. That ensure the Dayak continue to be poor. Don’t give the Dayak any seed capital for their business. Without initial capital and expertise to help them Dayak involvement into business would be slow. Dayak are not given quota or preferential business – thus Dayak do not enjoy NEPor even the on going NEM.
What more need I say about Dayak support for BN while is not going to bear any fruit. Those who are in BN only want things for themselves. That is the difference between the BN Dayak and the Opposition Dayak.
Talking about Dayak Rights
BN Dayak even got angry when DayakBaru speak out for Dayak rights and opportunities. The BN Dayak used all their authorities and power to ensure that DayakBaru cannot talk about Dayak rights. Why stop DayakBaru from highlighting Dayak issues when the BN Dayak are not doing anything about it?
If BN do not want Dayak to discuss Dayak issues aqnd solve Dayak problem then we Dayak must stop voting BN. We now have the option to vote PR. Whether PR is good or not to Dayak today is secondary. To change BN is our primary goal. We know BN do not want to solve Dayak problems. We now must give PR the chance to solve Dayak problems. That is the reason why we must stop voting BN. Tell our friends, parents and relatives that BN is not good to us Dayak. The Dayak leaders in BN are not sincere in helping Dayak – they are only good at giving away MRP, which really do not need brain to do.
Change WE Must. Change this BN Dayak leaders and vote Opposition.
(Star) – Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad reiterated Sunday that Umno could not afford to quarrel and distance itself from non-governmental organisations such as the Malay right-wing group, Perkasa.
He said Umno needed the support of such NGOs if the Barisan Nasional lynchpin did not want to risk losing more support from the ground.
“I feel that Umno, in particular, is not that strong. We cannot afford to dismiss any group because, if we are to even lose 100 or 200 people, we may lose (in the elections).
“As such, we need as much support as possible. It is needless for us to quarrel with anyone (or any group). I feel we should endear ourselves to as many groups as possible,” he told reporters at his Aidilfitri open house at his residence, here.
Last Thursday, Umno secretary-general Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor said Umno was distancing itself from Perkasa as the group was eroding Barisan’s support among the non-Malays with its comments.
Dr Mahathir said Umno members were, at the moment, torn between supporting or distancing themselves from Perkasa, and added that such a situation could widen the divide between them.
“It has caused ambivalence among Umno members themselves. Some say they will stay (close), some say (they will) distance (themselves). This will divide them even more.
“Besides, in the last (general) election (in 2008), the margin was very small (between the BN and the opposition). If we lose some support, we might lose the (next) election,” he said.
Asked if Umno would be at the losing end if it distanced itself from Perkasa, Dr Mahathir said: “We cannot afford to quarrel with so many people. If you want to quarrel, quarrel with one, not everyone.”
Meanwhile, Deputy International Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, echoing his father’s sentiment, said he saw no point in Umno choosing to distance itself from Perkasa when the struggles of both were the same, which were to uphold the rights of the Malays.
“We don’t see why we should distance ourselves from them. I don’t quite see how I should not support them. I am not a Perkasa member but if they invite me to functions, I will attend,” he told reporters.

Afterall, that is why Tunku want Sabah and Sarawak to form malaysia, to counter chinese population from Singapore. Without us, Chinese is majority in malaysia. Not them. Dayak can demand things just like Chinese do too. Land title etc, promoting our mother tougue, our languages are beatiful. But does bn seems to care? What happen when Chinese votes swing to DAP? See how SUPP scare like a dog now. We Dayak can do this also, start demanding for our rights, punish bn Dayak parties for not helping us. Then u will see them setting up small booths in shopping mall or market asking voters what they can do to help. Like beggars. We must not be mislead anymore. Damn those people who look down on Dayak. Dayakbaru are convinced that the Dayak must fight for the Dayak. If Dayakbaru don`t do that nobody else will. But Masing said it was wrong! He said the the ethnic group in which you belonged did not automatically make you a leader. Who made Masing become YB, Dayak or another group in Baleh?

Just to my thought
Example like us if you speak up bad thing about our leadership (You are the next like previous leader kick out from the team) so as long as there want their seat. Just like other YAB 100% support to leadership.
But on other hand
Dont forget about Dayak leader who are not active Good example like DR M. He just said this and that about UMMO because he had nothing to lose right.
If we compare to Dayak leader has retire from politik where they are? Dont they remember that Dayak vote for them and why do they not like Dr. M. Speak up Sir!!!
Sadly we have a bunch of “$$$ first” dayak Ybs. representing our community. The irony is, if these “ball-less” Ybs. speak they stand to lose their “kan-tau” or $$$$! Goes to show they will not hesitate to sell and sacrifice their community and relatives for the sake of more $$$ in their own pockets. We don’t need to be reminded once again that “bumi” means the “laut” race only since UMNO=Perkasa=Ketuanan melayu. Natives of Sarawak and Sabah are not in their vocabulary. To UMNO, Dayaks are just “pendatang” like the others and our dayak Ybs. are puppets on the string!!!! Change we must. Lets start be voting out the current muted dayak Ybs.

Yes, the challenge we (you included) face, is to help our people to see beyond the short-term reliefs of garam, beras issue.
DB call is to support each other in helping Dayaks to stand tall, shoulder-to-shoulder, head-to-head with other races. DB called to support each other so that Dayaks look beyond PR or BN, but to survive as decent human being, with decent homes, amenities, and incomes.
DB’s call is for us to support each other in bringing this change – not because he or she is BN or PR supporter – can we?
The fact that you bring short-term reliefs to the longhouse is a clear-cut proof that 47 years of Malaysia rule has left us Dayaks out. If you travel, from Mersing Johor to Bukit Kayu Hitam Perlis, you don’t see the same level of suffering and poverty found among Dayaks. They are well protected, well-supplied, well-cared for – what is wrong with such protections, supplies and care be accorded to us as well?
I support any YB who shouts hoarse for the well-being of Dayaks.
1. In JV on NCR land, I support any YB who calls for revision of the contracts that have never benefited the Dayaks.
2. In term of civil service, I support any Dayak YB who calls for proportionate number of Dayaks intake each year.
3. In term of human capital development, I support any Dayak YB who relentlessly and unceasingly called for proportionate number of Dayak students for government scholarships and places in universities, locally as well as overseas.
The fact we don’t find such YB points to a simple conclusion; they have failed to represent Dayaks’ interest.
In my last posting (thread about mr Lihan Jok), I mentioned Datuk Chor CH, minister of housing & local gov’t. He announced (Star 12/9) that RM100 m is being allocated by the Finance Ministry for new villages settlers. That is the sort of announcement that makes us proud of our Dayak YB, if only we can find one such YB!!
My conclusion is that our YB must be able to pride themselves and see beyond the garam beras, pala babi (RM4 only), chap langkau politics. Since there is none such YB at present, isn’t it time to TUKAR them all? (How to do it? – this is the challenge now).

Lee’s remarks not inaccurate, says Syed Husin Ali
PETALING JAYA, Sept 14 — Dr Syed Husin Ali today said Singapore’s founding father Lee Kuan Yew’s description of Malaysia as a “most uphappy situation”, during a recent interview with the New York Times, was not without basis.
The PKR deputy president pointed out that Malaysians in general were unhappy with the direction of the country including the increase ethnic and religious tensions which he said was “sometimes generated.”
“If we start creating animosity, then we are not building a strong community,” he said.
Syed Husin referred to Teo Nie Ching’s visit to a Surau in her constituency, which was turned into a controversy, as an example.
Politicians from Umno kicked up a storm over the issue while Malay rights group called for action to be taken against the Serdang MP.
But he pointed out that non-Muslims were allowed to enter mosques even during the time of the Prophet.
“Who are we to say non-Muslims cannot enter a Surau or say they are uncleaned and who are we to suspend the Surau committee?” he asked.
Syed Husin expressed concerned that the country could be destroyed if racial and religious conflict is not controlled.
He also lamented that the rising cost of living due to the removal of subsidies and the increasing crime rate, including the murder of Datuk Sosilawati Lawiya and three others, were all contributing to the uphappy situation in Malaysia.
During the interview early this month, Lee had said that Malaysians would be enjoying his city-state’s brand of nationalism and multi-racialism today, if both nations had not separated.
Lee claimed that if Malaysia’s founding father Tunku Abdul Rahman had decided to keep both nations together 45 years ago, much of what Singapore had achieved today in terms of equality among the races would be likewise be achieved in Malaysia.
The longest serving Singapore prime minister also claimed that Malaysia’s pro-Malay policy has resulted in segregated communities.
He explained that while he was satisfied with race relations in Singapore, it still remained his regret that this could not have been done on a larger scale together with Malaysia.

- BN political system, as the leaders themselves, would often proudly proclaim,is a power-sharing system among the various races.
- (To which Mahathir,once added with pride – other BN component parties are beneficiary of UMNO generosity since UMNO has enough political support to govern alone if it wants to).
- A fella had told me that Moggie ( a long time ago) had retort to Mahathir that Dayak should have PBDS since the Indians have MIC, Chinese have MCA and Malays have UMNO.
- Somewhere along the line, in the history of Dayak politics,the Dayak politicians-had given up fighting for the Dayak cause.
- And so the Dayak got their SPDP, PRS, SNAP, Parti Pesaka – where the leaders would publicly disavow any interest to champion the Dayak political cause.

What were they thinking ? Who voted them into office ? Who are their constituencies ?
While Dayaks politician claim to become global citizen overnight, throughout the rest of the Malaysian political history, the other BN component parties in BN are smartly carving out the Malaysian dream for their constituencies.
Was it possible that the Dayak politicians had been tricked by the Politics of Development ? Were they, that intellectually shallow ? !
Or might it have been the case that the Dayak politicans had always been extremely weak. That their elections had been funded by people who have no interest in the Dayak political constituency – but only in their businesses ? But that they would lose in the next election – without the political funding/support ?
And is it the case that,in the final analysis, it is the Dayak voters themselves who had weakened their political position by getting themselves addicted to money politics, so that their leaders had to prostitute their principle,to survive an election ?

Now,I can sense many young Dayak will get confuse by the notion of non-racial politics that the PR component parties are promoting, as an alternative to BN power-sharing by race.
Does it mean, that those who stand for election on the PR ticket, cannot talk about Dayak political interest ?
Absolutely not.
To digress; how would a Dayak political leadership would argue against the RM 500 million for Kuching sewer system, in favour of say, a highway between Sibu and Kapit, that would benefit many Dayaks living in the Rejand delta ?
Under the BN power-sharing system, the Dayak development quota has been fixed through the MRP system. Plus a bit here, and a bit there – channelled through various government agencies.
Sooo, no chance that Taib can be questioned for spending lavishly on the sewers !
And I might add, in the BN system – the economic benefits are distributed according to the relative political strength of the component party.UMNO get the T-bone steak, while the rest would get “soup ekor”.
Good thing – I think the political culture that reward and apportion development by political strenght like in BN,cannot be changed. It has been so deeply entrenched.
See whenever there is a global financial crisis, government would tighten public spending, and reduce the number of lucrative government contract. Thats when the fighting would start. I think, deep down its the disgruntled UMNO members who don’t get their T-bone steak, who would invoke more race and religious vitriolic, and who would form organizations like PERKASA.
Infighting, for goodies – will certainly cause BN to implode, sooner or later.
Alright, back to the challenge, so – how would Dayak benefit from an envisaged political system that seek to distribute resource “differently” than the BN “power-sharing” method ?
To put it bluntly: if Sarawak is governed by PR at the moment, would the Dayak politician be able to sway the MPs and the ADUNs, to change their views/votes – from spending RM 500 million for a modern sewers system for Kuching, but to build a modern highway between Sibu and Kapit ?
I don’t know. If PR stand by its principle to be non-racial, and I would therefore presume – to allocate public resource to each community for the ultimate good that such allocation will be for the country, then the Dayak politician will have a chance. Otherwise, its back to square one.
Final Analysis

Ultimately-the promise of PR, is the promise of a strong 2-party political system that will create checks and balance. So, if I vote for PR, its not for any naive vision that those folks would be any better than BN, but that they will force BN to think twice before they bulldoze a Dayak longhouse, a grave yard, or a heritage NCR land.
Other Malaysians, … including ex SUPP supporters must surely agree to rein in BN arrogance ? And really, to also check the greed and plundering ways of the BN leadership.

PBDS, SPDP and PRS are splinters of SNAP.
The PBDS was formed in September 1983 after a large Dayak exodus from SNAP, allegedly to better articulate and promote Dayak aspirations and hopes. I believe PBDS was truly safeguarding the interest and protecting the rights of the Dayak. Some quarters were not happy when PBDS exposed the widespread cronyism and corruption in the rape of Sarawak`s timber resources involving the state leaders, and I believe its de-registration was a plan to kill some of party`s leaders politically.
PRS was formed in a few hours after the de-registration of PBDS and during the party Inaugural General Meeting in January 2005, its president James Masing in his reply to The Borneo Post`s reporter said ” Twenty one years ago (while he was in PBDS), I was very convinced that the Dayak must fight for the Dayak. If we don`t do that nobody else will. I was wrong!” I don`t know which community PRS is fighting for? Judging from his statement, of course not the Dayak.
Then in May 2005, a group of Dayak professionals and an handful members of the defunct PBDS formed a new Dayak-based party MDC (Malaysian Dayak Congress) to fill vaccum left by PBDS but SPDP and PRS publicly announced that they hoped ROS would not register the MDC as they claimed too many suitors for Dayaks.
To my understanding the state government opposed the registration of any Dayak-based party, that was why SPDP and PRS got their multi-racial names although both parties are seen as Dayak dominated parties.
Are SPDP and PRS fighting for Dayak cause? I don`t know. But both parties publicly supported the state government`s every policy and every action, including the implementation of policies on NCR land which the opposition and NGOs claimed led to a series conflicts as companies given leases for oil palm plantations and logging concessions encroach into the indigenous people`s NCR.
Should PR win the election and form the state government, is it willing to safeguard the interest and welfare of the Dayaks? Well, we have some responsible and trustworthy Dayak personalities in PR, whom we hope be able to set a target and a formula to the Dayak to work together for the benefit of the community. Dayaks need true leaders who do not betray them for self-interest of wealth, position and abandon his community right for a few ringgit. They must realise that `rakyat` are the kingmaker.

I have visited a few longhouses in ulu baram and explained to them about current issues concerning the NCR, education, economy, etc. In fact, it was just a randau ruai and i used some info that i get from DB kena muka mata n runding bala kaban dia. I received good response from them, at least they know that the reprensentatives that they have supported for all this while are not fighting for them. In Jun, i went to limbang and do the same thing. I also went to belaga and bintulu (along the road to rh nor nyawai) with the same news.
My next mission will be to julau and betong.
Aram meh kaban DB kitai sama ngerembai ka buah randau kitai dlm DB tu ngagai bala di rmh panjai.

Of course, I shared the predicaments commonly faced by the Ibans.

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) today expressed its undivided support for Tan Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud to remain as the party president, saying this was necessary to maintain political stability and continuous development in Sarawak.
PBB deputy president Tan Sri Alfred Jabu said the support was expressed by all the PBB supreme council members and all the leaders of the various segments of the 71 branches of the party.
The support was expressed via a pledge of loyalty and a resolution at the meeting of the PBB supreme council chaired by Taib himself, he said.
“We (PBB members) unanimously support the leadership of Pehin Sri (Tan Sri) Abdul Taib Mahmud and will continue to support his leadership and that of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak,” Jabu, who is a Sarawak deputy chief minister, told reporters this evening.

Jugam admitted that he is a member of PBB. His posting comment dated 16th Sept., 2010 at 3.17 PM above, refers. So, it is his right to say that BN government is good. Our DB members who are mostly supporters of PR will not agree with Jugam`s ideas and opinion, because we feel that BN government has failed to improve the livelihood of the people in Sarawak, especially to the rural areas.
The are too many hard-core poor people in rural areas, no trunk roads, no electricity and no pipe water, even though BN has ruled Sarawak for the last 47 years.
But Jugam seems not or pretends not to realise that. That is the attitude of PBB members, including its Iban/Dayak ministers. For them, their ` nasi periuk ` is more important.
So DB brothers, just ignore Jugam. He can say anything high and low about BN. But I can`t understand why Jugam jumps to the wrong pond knowing very well that it is full of DB members. He is not that fit to change our stance. If I were Jugam, I would not wasting my time in this blog. Nobody is going to listen to him, instead he will get nasty comments from DB.

The decision of the leaders and people in Sabah and Sarawak to join in the formation of Malaysia was a wise move which had seen significant changes in both states in terms of development.

Further more, it is most unfair to the local consumers, businessmen and industrialists that SESCO is selling electricity to Press Metal Berhad at such cheap price of approximately RM0.10 per KwH, while the local consumers, businessmen and industrialists have to pay approximately RM0.30 per KwH for electricity.

1. DSAI had shot down outright Parti Keadilan Sarawak calls for a new deal to reinstall the rights, the opportunities and the privileges of Sarawakians in the Malaysian agreement as the dreams and visions of its forefathers for better Sarawak have not been achieved.
In light of this latest development it’s high time for DBs to rethink/review its support for DSIA and PKR leaders. Perhaps gkm2020 should take the lead by convincing DBs & Dayaks voters to continue supporting Yangdikasihi and the BN regime for the betterment of the Dayaks community.
DB should realize that DSAI is using the Dayaks as political tools to achieve his private agenda of becoming become PM.

The Malays in Singapore, no crutch mentality

AUG 5 — It is a fact known to all that Malays in Singapore are a minority.
However this minority is quite different from other minorities in the world.
Similarly, to some, Singapore is just a red dot in this vast Asian region.
But it is no ordinary red dot.
It is a grave mistake to equate size with ability, just as it is wrong to assume that being small and in the minority is to be weak and insignificant.
The recent World Cup proved this. While Spain may be the world champion, it was minnow Switzerland that became the only country in the tournament that was able to defeat Spain.
Forty-five years have passed since Singapore left Malaysia, yet every now and then we still hear non-complimentary comments from across the Causeway about the Malay community here.
The latest came from former Malaysian prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, who casually reminded Malaysian Malays not to become like Singaporean Malays.
He did not make it clear what he actually meant, but the comment was made in the context of the possibility of Malaysian Malays losing their power in Malaysia.
Again he did not specify what type of power, but it could safely be interpreted as political power.
Now, what could have happened to the Malays here in the last four decades?
What could have driven Dr Mahathir to voice his concern and to caution the Malaysian Malays?
I wonder.
The Malay community in Singapore, of course, know what has become of us here.
First and foremost, we have become a completely different community from what we were 45 years ago.
We have developed our own identity and philosophy of life that are distinct from our relatives across the Causeway.
We may wear the same clothes, eat the same food, speak the same language and practise the same culture.
However, the similarities end there.
We are now a society that upholds the philosophy of wanting to stand on our own feet, or what is known in Malay as “berdikari” or “berdiri atas kaki sendiri”.
We do not believe in being spoon-fed or being too dependent on government help.
In other words, we do not have a crutch mentality. We firmly believe that a community with such a crutch mentality will soon become a “two M” community — the first “M” stands for “manja” (spoilt), and the second for “malas” (lazy).
We definitely do not want to be labelled as a pampered and lazy community.
That is why our Malay community here constantly work hard to raise funds to build our own mosques, madrasahs and other buildings in expensive and land-scarce Singapore.
Over the years we have raised millions of dollars to become proud owners of these buildings.
Through our own efforts and with the help of other organisations, we have also helped the needy not only financially, but also in equipping them with new skills so that they can earn their living.
For Dr Mahathir, however, all that we have done and achieved so far are not good enough.
He takes a negative view of our changed attitudes and different mindset, and has therefore cautioned Malaysian Malays not to be like us.
What about power? For Malays in Singapore, power is not about wielding the keris.
For us, knowledge is power. In fact we believe that knowledge is THE real power.
The constant emphasis by the community on the importance of education and acquiring knowledge has led to the formation of institutions such as Mendaki, Association of Muslim Professionals (AMP), the Prophet Mohamad Birthday Memorial Scholarship Board (LBKM) and many others.
These self-help organisations not only provide financial help to needy students, but also strive to nuture our students to their full potential.
At the same time, these organisations help to tackle various social ills faced by the community.
Again, we do these all on our own. Malay children here attend the same schools as other Singaporeans with a shared aim — to obtain a holistic education and, of course, achieve good examination results.
Yes, it is tough. Like all other children, our Malay students have no choice but to work hard.
It is a reality of life in Singapore that we have come to accept — that there is certainly no short cut to success.
We do not believe in getting any special treatment, because it would only reduce the value of our achievements and lower our dignity.
The meritocratic system that we practise here is, without doubt, a tough system but it helps us to push ourselves and prevent us from becoming “manja” and “malas”.
Still, Dr Mahathir and some Malay leaders across the Causeway do not like the way we do things here and have therefore warned Malaysian Malays not to be like us.
On our part, there is certainly no turning back.
Meritocracy has proven to be a good and fair system.
It pushes us to work hard and makes us proud of our achievements.
We can see how it has benefited us by looking at the growing number of doctors, lawyers, magistrates, engineers, corporate leaders and other professionals among us.
It is the successes and achievements of some of these people that Berita Harian wants to highlight and celebrate when we launched this Achiever Award 12 years ago.
Tonight, we have another role model to present to our community.
So, the question is: Shouldn’t our friends and relatives across the Causeway be like us — Malays in Singapore?
It is definitely not for us to suggest or decide.
And we too have no intention of asking our own community if we would like to be like them either, because we have already chosen our very own path for the future.
We, the Malays in Singapore, should be proud of our achievements, because we have attained them through hard work.
It is true that what we have achieved so far may not be the best, and that we are still lagging behind the other races.
There are large pockets in our community facing various social problems.
We have achieved so much, and yet there is still a long way to go. But we should not despair.
We can do a lot more on our own if the community stay united and cohesive.
In critical issues, we should speak with one voice.
We need to help and strengthen each other while at the same time reach out to the other communities in multi-racial, multi-religious Singapore. A successful and prosperous Singapore can only mean a successful and prosperous Malay community.
Can we do it? Well, to borrow US President Barack Obama’s campaign slogan, “Yes, we can”.

How about Dayak, why don’t we demand for our right to be the rightful owner of CM’s Chair in Sarawak as agreed during the formation Malaysia? Where is our so-called bravery that we all are so proud off all these while??? We are all cowards actually esp our Dayak YBs, who are only interested in enriching themselves.Tedwin, why don’t PRS demand for this also, instead of ONLY demanded to be recognised in fighting for Malaya’s freedom from communist. Pls tell Masing, Mawan, Entulu, Jabu etc about this.
