Corrupt Political Culture practiced by BN
Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony
We have seen BN in rural Sarawak do not do much campaign. They depended on Federal Ministers to come and give talk and promised many projects. For the last election, Najib and Muhyuddin promised nearly about Rm 1 billion ringgit to Sarawak. Will BN keep to their promised is yet to be seen. Then the State Ministers will promised development grants while many BN YBs distribute cheques and many bounced for lack of fund.
Why did the BN candidate issue the cheques? They has been promised of certain amount of money going into their account. Like anything else, the money was not bank in time by BN Secretariat and thus when the Tuai Rumah cash the cheques it bounces. Many BN candidate depended on this money to buy vote and win their election.
If BN candidate is elected through “corrupt means” then the voters should know that they have voted a corrupt government. Many BN key workers declared that they strike 4D after every election. That is because they retain or keep the money that is supposed to be distributed. For the BN candidate why should they care? It is not their money in the first place.
What type of culture do you think the BN is practising? It is a culture of corruption. It makes a fool of the voters. It also mean that the means does not matter as long as you get what you want. That is not a healthy culture but many people do not even think of principle and value system. Anything is accepted to justify the end.
What type of culture is that of giving empty promises?
Hospital in Sri Aman, Song – Kapit road etc . The road to Kapit according to Manyin should already be implemented by beginning of thgis year. Look, where is that promised now. BN culture of lies continues and BN cleverly cover the lies with cash for votes.
Can anybody confirmed that the promises in Batang Ai has been delivered? How about the promises made during the Sibu Parliamentary by-election. No wonder BN lost in urban areas because the people are more educated and they understand political issues and what make a good government. The rural voters are still easily fool. Despite that, the votes for Opposition PR is on a drastic rise while BN is losing ground.
You can see the CHEAT in the Election Process that with only 90,000 vote difference BN can still hold two third majority. The EC designed the constituency to favor the BN parties.
BN institutionalize vote buying in every election.
Teams of trusted workers from BN would be making their round mostly 72 hours before polling. During the last 10th state election, the meoney is even distributed before the nomination day. Many money used to buy votes are even paid 4 days after the result has been announced.
Vote buying is down low mentality and therefor it produced a government that is not much respected. We can see the Malay Senator and certain YB standing up for Taib not to resign even after Taib promised to resign. hat is the agenda of this few YB and Senator? They are helpless mentality YB who is scared of change and challenges. These YBs and Senator is all for themselves and not for the interest of the people of Sarawak.
Conclusion
Reporting BN Government corruption to authorities is a journey of faith and not of the rule of law. How many reports has been made on Taib? What action has the authorities taken – MACC and the rest of the relevant Ministeries. If there is no corruption then let MACC declare that Taib is not gulty of corruption. But MACC and the police should start the investigation. Today nothing seemed to happen and it give the people of Sarawak every reason to suspect that Taib and the BN government is really corrupt.
Smooth talking, cheating and corrupt government is what the people of urban Sarawak do not want. Those in rural Sarawak is still too depended on Government give out. That being the case, after 48 years of Malaysia the BN keep the rural people poor on purpose. They wanted to make the rural voters their “fixed deposit” for every election. My question is but for how long?
DayakBaru will continue to do work to reveal the truth of BN government abuse of power and corruption. Motre so, the BN government has wasted Sarawak revenue to corruption to enrich the politicians.

There is no corruption in Malaysia! Its part and parcel of our ketuanan culture. Leadership by example. The infamous quote from Sibu “do we have a deal, you tolong I, I tolong you”. Need we say more?
The voices of the majority of rural dayaks are now loud and clear. They have decided to retain the status quo to rule Sarawak. So be it. They have taken another risk for the next 5 years……for richer or for poorer rest on the shoulder of those they elected.
Lets move on. Hopefully thls new era will prove better than the past.
Development projects promises are just BN songs which are no substance in lyrics. We have heard too many development promises were announced by BN leaders during Btg. Ai by-election and Sibu by-elections, but most of these projects have not been implemented yet.
1. The upgrading to tar-seal Batang Ai resettlement scheme costing RM12 million. Has this project been implemented?
2. Another road linking Ulu Sg. Engkari Batang Ai main road costing RM360 million also would be built. Has this project started?
3. Jabu would propose to build Jalan Sri Aman-Betong under the 10th Malaysia Plan. Until now I have not seen any plan for that.
4. Both Michael Manyin and Shafie Apdal promised to link Kapit to the rest of Sarawak and expected to begin in the year 2010. One year has lapsed, I have not seen the project has started yet.
5. Last year Muhyiddin Yassin announced some RM1 billion worth of projects will be implemented in Batang Lupar parliamentary constituency when addressing the people at ‘Jom Berambeh’ at Kpg. Beladin, Sri Aman. Where are these projects?
6.Last year, Mong Dagang announced (i) Rm26 million would be spent on Sembau-Gran-Stumbin-Tg. Bijat (16 km), (ii) RM12 million on Bangkong-Jukong Road (7 km) and (iii) RM14 million on Melugu-Melugu Scheme-Po Ai Road (14 km). All these projects have not started yet
So many lies have manifested from the mouths of BN leaders, especially during the election. Therefore, whatever comes from their mouths are just like songs that are sweet to the ears.
Hmmmmmmmm…uchu……Barter-trade of votes with projects during election is a serious corruption practice, uchu!!!! No t only, any promise made is amounting to corrupt behavior hehehehehe. It’s so bad practice if it is pledged in the TV channels eg our ministers promise million RM projects to the people at the election time.
Ia……if only infrstructure developments to Sarawak were given as per promised for every elections, all towns and longhouses would have been accessible to good roads, electricity, telephone and clean treated water. Imagine, we had at least 20 General elections(inclusive State and Parliamentary)
Let’s say an average of RM1 billion was promised per general election, so for 20 general elections, it would have run into RM20 billions. Do we have that RM20 billions worth of infrastructure development in Sarawak????? How about those promises given the by-election? Iwould be much more that RM20 billions…definitely.
Leave it to all of us to ponder…..
I guess, the opposition can also promise too. It will only be fulfill when they win.
For BN, if they lost, they also not able to fulfill their promises but if they won, they would either fulfill them or just eat their words….God knows.
SO, ANYONE, ANYBODY CAN PROMISE ANYTHING TO THE PEOPLE JUST TO CONVINCE. IF LOST, FORGET ABOUT FULFILLING THEIR PROMISES HEHEHEHEHEHE….
Apooooo…pama Igat Mong neh Igat Banting…..Mayuh amat duit iya. Careless amat Igat nya. Asoh ngiga duit iya kena ngaga jalai ke didanji iya nya hahahahahaha…….
Hello kaban semua,
DBs have no moral basis to talk about election malpractices or corrupt political culture, for a pot should not call kettles black.
Do you not know in Krian AB spent more than the statutory requirement? What about the “sagu ati” of RM30 given to Krian voters. Are you guys endorsing double standard practices?
Padah aja nadai duit kena meli undi !!!!!!!!
Nya aja kaban.
When Gov promise these type of project, it is a simple and easy way to check.
1. When PM Najib table the anualy budget, is this project is counted in? If not, sorry to say, forget about it.
2. RMK10 is already table in parliment. Again, are these promises in counted in the RMK10 project? If not, again you can forget about it.
Like BN always say, it is easy to promise but very hard to implement. But, all these project is depend on budget and yet, every budget how much Sarawak will get? All these BN promises project is fall under Federal Fund.
Voters from urban areas is knowing very well about this thing, so they dont bother about promises by BN.
I want to believe that “corrupt political culture” puportedly by BN is non-issue in so far as Dayaks electrates is concerned. Question asked, what make one think than opposition camp are less corrupt? a question to ponder.
I want to believe also that independent Pelagus Assemblyperson G. Lagong will be following Dr. Rayong’s footstep becoming a BN-friendly.You just mark my words.
You know, many of our Dayak & Ibans like to hear about promises and announcement of projects, big big money and government grand plans. They dont bother if these are implemented or not after given some 20~30 ringgit ang-pow. Tuai Rumah would not care or chase up the YBs and ministers in fear of themselves becoming disliked. There is no great deal about not having the basic needs of electricity, water and proper roads, they have been in such as a state for 50 years, so no worry, no question and no hope.
Sorry to tell our Dayak communities, many of the promised projects would not be implemented as the national parliamentary election is just right at the close corner. BN federal and UMNO would not be fool to provide now as they can again use the same tact and promises soon to win the next election.
The best ever tactic of BN is to lie, but the best of us Sarawakian is to listen and get amused by these lies. Sorry to say that.
Kaban,
A young Dayak lass, hails from Betong Division ,while studying nursing in Damansara KL used as DRUG MULE caught in Shenzen China- A Borneo Post front page 26 April 2011.
She was promised only RM5,000 for the job. What a SHAME when a student nurse just like most Dayaks succumbed to just RM5,000.My point here is we simply do not know our own net worth.Probably she faces a death sentence for her crime in China where the drugs laws are very rigid.
Until we know our REAL NET WORTH we the Dayaks can be bought at any time be it during election times or otrherwise.

Pasun, one question.
If Lagong “frog-jumps” to BN and not joining PRS, what would Masing & PRS say? Would they have to swallow the pride but grab their own balls quietly?
Beacuse Rayong has “frog-jumped” successfully, many will follow same scenario to get rich and scured the most safe way. Congratulation, Frogs
Realistically I want to believe rural constituencies (esp PBB stronghold) will continue and remain as BN “fixed deposit” in many more elections to come, not just the PRU 13.
To say that Malays/Melanau/Dayaks majority areas are no longer BN “fixed Deposit” in the impending PRU 13 is merely a wishful thinking and day dreaming.
Just a week ago the Malays/Melanau/Dayaks Iban has said it loud and clear BN gomen under YDK is the preferred choice and is here to stay. It’s not only BN “fixed deposit” but more of a “land title with perpetuity lease period”.
Kaban DBs

According to Baru Bian “Ibi Uding and Vernom Kedit, had no authority to agree to nor disagree with the line-up”.
Can both of you explain in writing why you busy body? Before you attend the all important meeting can you please look at the mirrow?
YB Ali Biju is uncomfortable & never agree to take charge of Islamic Affair portfolio. Should Ali decided to leave PR Ibi and Vernom will be held responsible.

Pasun,
I have to agree with you that PBB areas are BN Fixed Deposits, but since you did not have any plan or long term objective on top of just saying that.
Now,as the last resort I tend to agree with THE A1 BDC Social Group as reported by PRPR under 1Melayu 1Bumi,that DPTS Jabu be persuaded to take over from Taib before August 13th Date line, after which MOCS will go to the streets in all the major towns in Sarawak.
With the SE just over what are we waiting for ????
