Season of BN EMPTY PROMISES is here again.
Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony
In Malaysia there are many seasons: Christmas, Hari Raya, Deepavali, Gawai Dayak etc and now we have a new season called the season of BN Empty PROMISES. Usually, this season of Promises precede a General Election and it is now a common sight to see a charade of Federal Cabinets members and led either by the Prime Minister or as it is by Deputy Prime Minister who is a “Malay 1st and Malaysia 2nd” visiting Sarawak and making promises. What is more funny to see is to have so many Sarawak Senior Ministers accompanying the Federal visitors as if they have nothing to do in their Ministry. My friend said those Senior Ministers are “ball carriers” and their agenda is only in their self interest and not of the people of Sarawak.
The local newspaper is full of BN Empty Promises and Propaganda and that even a ringgit per Sarawak Tribune / Borneo Post is too expansive to pay for.
Sarawak Trunk Road
“SUDDENLY” the Federal Government recognize the bad condition of Sarawak main trunk road. The Minister was reported to say that he cannot sleep along the way from Bintulu to Miri and he suffers back ache. I believed the DPM must have been driven in an expansive comfortable vehicle which is a world apart from the poor folks who frequent the road using Kancil and other small cars. I would suggest that the DPM ride on a Kancil from Bintulu to Miri – I doubt he could even get out of the car after making that journey in a Kancil.
Then the play acting begin in Miri – DPM asking Peter Chin to bring the matter up in the Federal Cabinet meeting and that he will support it. Just a few week ago Miri Chinese Chamber of Commerce has asked the Chief Minister to look into the same matter. Am I surprise that DPM brought up this poor condition of Sarawak main road in Miri? This is a game BN politician play to impress the voters. I am telling the voters this is the season of BN Empty PROMISE.
Where is the $1billion promised by Keris-muddin immediately after the 2008 PRU 12?
Sabah and Sarawak delivered the Federal Government to UMNO in PRU 12 of 2008. Keris-muddin came and was very happy with Sarawak that he announced a RM1 billion special allocation to build and improve road infra-structure in Sarawak. Which road was built using that money? The road to Kapit was not build. The road to Marudi was not build, neither the Lapok roak or even the Mukah road. There is no marked improvement on the main truck road. Did the money really was given to sarawak or did the State Government divert 60% of the money somewhere else?
Too many promises
I refused to narrate BN promises in this article, it is embarrassing to repeat the lies . But I would humbly bring the Government attention to their promises to Lubok Antu through a By-election after PRU 12. The amount promised during the by-election was to the tune of $80 million. How much has been delivered to the people of Lubok Antu?
The promised by CM that Sarawak would be the richest State in Malaysia by 2020. Now he said by 2030. I do hope Taib would still be alive bythen – remember Mugabe, these men are similar in many ways. They can live to old age and still rule the state. As long as Taib is alive there is no better man to lead Sarawak?
How about the promised of Kapit road by Manyin. The construction of the road Manyin said is no laughing matter and definitely not election focus. This is serious and that the road would have been constructed 2 years ago. Maybe the road is being built we never know because it may be hidden by mirage.
Now Awang Tengah say more fantastic things about providing Sarawak with electricity. I refused to quote the percentage that Awang Tengah gave, it is an insult to our common knowledge that the percentage of those without electricity is so much more then what was stated by him. I hope his don’t quote the statistical department of Sarawak as his source or he may end up ridiculing the department.
Conclusion
Remember a promise is for the future – for which we will never be able to know whether it is true or not. But we can always look at history since 49 years ago. How much progress has BN brought to Sarawak and especially rural Sarawak. That is easy for us to know the answer because we can see the evidence. We know for a fact that BN lies all the time. In fact BN campaign to say that BN always deliver is another lies and hopefully told a thousand time would eventually be accepted as the truth.
Friends and all alike, it is our season to “UBAH” the government. Let the Federal Government fall into the hand of PR. Then how will Sarawak fare under the new Federal Gov’t. We will see a different future for our children.
For Dayak will will ot want to be called bangsa “lain-lain” any more.
We UBAH ourselves and by so doing ubah the government. Change is not a choice, it is Change WE Must.

Our dayak BN.Ybs are suckers and betrayal of their own race for want of $$$$$4! They are so damned “paloi” that they refuse to accept into their thick skulls the meaning “Melayu 1st and Malaysian 2nd” despite it coming out of the DPM’s mouth! “1Malaysia” is therefore a scam. Thus those who propagate “1Malaysia” are scam artists which includes all Sarawak Ybs. Maybe its time to vote 1Malaysia out and vote in Sarawak 1st….
For years I ve been travelling through the so called “Pan-Borneo Highway” The only section which comfort my driving was Saratok/betong. Besides Serian/Kch looks better now. The rest are poorly mantain or constructed.Worst Tatau, selangau, miri/bintulu (coastal and old road. Even some of the kampung at the roadsides still bathe at the stream nearby.
BN leaders know how to make promises comes election to fish for votes. They are good at singing but no substance in lyrics.
Muhyiddin had promised before that RM1 billion worth of project would be implemented in Batang Lupar parliamentary constituency under the 10th Malaysia Plan to help people to modernise the traditional farming and maintenance of longhouses. I am from this parliamentary constituency but until now I have not seen any project being carried out neither any longhouse has received any aid for repair.
On 14.7.2010, during meet the people gathering at Dobi longhouse, Sekirau, Sri Aman, MONG DAGANG, said RM26 million would be spent on Semambu-Gran Stumbin-Tanjong Bijat road (16 kilometers); RM12 million on Bangkong-Jokong road (7 km), RM14 million on Malugu-Melugu Scheme, Poi Ai (14 km). Until now I have not seen any project being carried out in these areas as promised.
BN government proposed the New Longhgouse Concept where 246 longhouse chiefs and community leaders attended in the two-day seminar on ” Seminar Konsep Baru Pem,bangunan Rumah Panjang” held at Mega Hotel in Miri. Until now I have not seen any longhouse of this type being built in Sarawak.
There are some more promises made by BN leaders in the past which have not been honoured. Therefore, whatever comes out from their mouths are just like songs that are sweet to the ears.

PRS strongman quits BN, slams ‘bully’ Taib
Tedewin Ngumbang: “ I cannot stand it anymore. I cannot stand to see how Taib treats PRS and Masing. ”
by Joseph Tawie, Free Malaysia Today, January 31, 2011
In a shocking move Parti Rakyat Sarawak’s (PRS) strongman Tedwin Ngumbang has quit the party he founded, slamming Chief Minister Taib Mahmud for ‘bullying and ignoring’ PRS.
Ngumbang, who is ‘special adviser’ to party president James Masing, said Taib ‘consistenty ignored’ Masing’s requests and demands which were in the interest of the Dayak community and this compelled him to resign.
“I am uncomfortable to see PRS being bullied and ignored by Taib.
“What the PRS president asks in the name and interest of Dayaks in letters to Taib, the chief minister does not reply. He just ignores them,” he said, pointing out that Masing tried his best.
Ngumbang’s resignation has shaken the political community in PRS as he is seen as someone who has ‘everything’ going for him, both in business and politics.
His move from his ‘comfort zone’ has thrown-up speculations of a possible exodus to revive Sarawak National Party (SNAP).
Ngumbang, who announced his decison to SNAP president Edwin Dundang after a SNAP symposium here yesterday, said: “I cannot stand it anymore. I cannot stand to see how Taib treats PRS and Masing.”
Citing the case of controversial assemblyman Larry Sng and the Pelagus seat, Ngumbang said Taib had added insult-to-injury when he ignored Masing’s call to replace Sng from his ministerial post.
“It was a slap for PRS. Larry (Sng) was sacked from PRS and Masing wanted him to be replaced as an assistant minister with another PRS elected representative.
“But Taib not only ignores Masing, but gives two more assistant ministerial posts to Sng. This is an insult not only to PRS, but to the Dayak community.
“I cannot stand this anymore,” he said.
Founding member
Ngumbang was one of those responsible for the formation of PRS during the leadership crisis of Parti Bansa Dayak Sarawak (PBDS) which led to its deregistration on Oct 21, 2004.
At the same time PRS was registered, claiming to replace PBDS.
And in the crisis of the newly formed PRS, Tedewin also played a leading role which led to the expulsion of Larry Sng from the party in April in 2009.
Commenting on Ngumbang’s resignation, PRS secretary general Wilfred Nissom said that he expected to receive the former’s resignation letter this Monday.
“Tedewin (Ngumbang) has a cause for which he has a strong feeling. We respect his decision to want to leave PRS in order to pursue his cause,” Nissom said.
Challenging Jabu?
Meanwhile Ngumbang’s resignation has prompted speculation that he may take on incumbent Deputy Chief Minister Alfred Jabu Numpang in the Layar constituency in the coming state election. Jabu has been representing the area for more than 36 years.
Ngumbang, who is related to Jabu, is very popular among the people of Layar.
Ngumbang is believed to ‘know the insides’ about Jabu and may want to use such information in the coming election.
“For the time being, I am assessing my chances in Layar,” said Ngumbang when asked of his plans.
“I want to talk to my supporters first … I want to know whether they prefer me or Joe Unggang,” he added, saying that he believed that a three-cornered fight was likely in Layar as PKR was also keen on the seat.
SNAP, which has its birthplace in Betong, is certain to contest the seat. In fact, it has identified a number of candidates for the seat.
SNAP secretary general Stanley Jugol welcomed Tedewin to join the party, but could not promise him anything.
“SNAP welcomes anyone who shares its struggle to join the party,” he said.
He agreed that Ngumbang’s move to SNAP will likely compell many more disillusioned members of the BN to join the party in the next few weeks. – FMT

Rajang logjam: PRS slams ‘unconcerned’ Dayak leaders
Tedewin Ngumbang: ” Where are our other Dayak leaders? ”
By Joseph Tawie, Free Malaysia Today, Friday 15 Oct 2010
KUCHING: A Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS) leader has slammed Dayak leaders for their lack of concern for the victims of the Rajang logjam “ecological disaster” resulting from the landslides in the upper reaches of the Rajang and Baleh rivers.
Party deputy information chief Tedewin Ngumband said other than causing the death of tonnes of fish, two persons had reportedly died in the landslides and thousands of Ibans had lost their sources of income.
Yet none of the state’s top Dayak leaders showed concern.
“So far only James Masing seems to be concerned with the ecological disaster that has caught the attention of people worldwide.
“It is not because he is the state assemblyman for Baleh, but because the logjam and debris have caused so much hardship to the people who depend on the rivers for their communication and as sources of income.
“But where are our other Dayak leaders such as Deputy Chief Minister Alfred Jabu, Federal Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Douglas Uggah Embas, Minister of Infrastructure Development Michael Manyin and Minister of Social Development and Urbanisation William Mawan Ikom?” Tedewin asked.
He said Jabu, being the senior Dayak minister, should have been the first to visit the victims. He is not only a Dayak leader for Betong but for the whole of Sarawak.
“So is Uggah Embas, who is the minister of natural resources and environment. It is his job not only to assess the extent of damage, but also to see to the victims and their welfare.
“It would appear to me that they are playing safe or simply looking after their own interests.
“I thought ‘people first’ is the Barisan Nasional battle cry. Has it been washed away by the logjam?” asked Tedewin, pointing out that the issue of logging activities is very “sensitive” as a number of prominent people are involved.
He said Masing, who is the land development minister, had been very vocal against uncontrolled logging activities at the upper reaches of Rajang and Baleh rivers and had called on the authorities to take stern action against these errant companies.
PRS is a component member of the Barisan Nasional of which Masing is the president.
State government’s policy questioned
Tedewin also questioned the state government’s policy on forest management and approach.
He said the state government had always propagated that it practised the most holistic approach to logging activities and maintains the best international standard and practices in our forest management.
“We have been telling the people and the world that we maintain sustainability and reforestation and respect our jungles and all its inhabitants.
“We (keep telling the people that we) have a systematic, environmental friendly, responsible and sustainable methodology in our due care of our forests and rivers in order to safeguard our flora and fauna.
“But these pictures of logs and debris that we see along the Rajang River tell the real stories. What you and I see in front or our own eyes is a disaster of immense proportions,” said Tedewin.
The logs and debris spreading over 250 kilometre of Rajang River since last Friday had damaged a number of bridges worth RM2.7 million and the loss of income and the problems the logjam created are yet to be estimated.

Not all lies, of course. In the last ADUN, they threw in RM100,000 into my parent’s longhouse. A month back, they divided the money and bought atap zing. No one is embarrassed to mention the atap zing bought by BN money.
If you visit my longhouse, you will see patches between atap zing and old “tebelian shingles.”
Of course MACC will not find evidence that the RM100,000 was for buying votes. Except we wonder why “during election time only?”
And as for the BR1M RM500, some families in my longhouse do not qualify!!! How it comes into that, don’t ask me. As the little BN “napoleons”.
Dear Bn Napoleon,
Good for you; but not good for most of us, the sidelined Iban.
You are lucky to have the crumbs but other races are getting much more then that. They are actually not looking to to this kind of MRP but the lands have been swindled!
Cheers..
Figures keep coming in as the GE13 is fast approaching, giving all sorts of virtual promises.
These are propagandas to excite the rayats to vote for greedy politicians. I keep on wondering to myself when will this episode ends?
The leaders who spread more lies will win the confidence of rayats. Is that so? We must act fast and let BN rule be put to an immediate stop and the wicked, corrupt masters will be brought to justice immediately!!!
We Want Justice, inorder to seek justice we must win votes to uphold integrity and form a new govt in the making.
How many times did the BN tell lays to the peoples of Sarawak, most of the area they tell the lays was the Dayaks Constituency. Until today there is nothing has been done, in the last state election there is a promise to the peoples but today there is nothing has been given to the peoples of Sarawak. and now the general election is very near, what is the next promise by the BN to Sarawak Dayaks peoples,we Dayaks should open our eyes now and do not listen to what they the BN will says to you. our problems is the Land (tana adat) the land belong to us the Dayaks peoples not the malay or BN. we should come up with our own voice and tell the BN leader that the land is belong to the Dayaks peoples. let us in the next general election not to vote for the BN,let come up and vote the DAP. I don’t think so that the BN government will full fill their promise they only want us the Dayaks to agree to hand over our land not the promise for development of the Dayaks area. we the Dayaks must give our hand to the opposition the like of DAP, if the BN give you money to vote for them don’t take it.this is corruption practices by the BN for many years ago. come and give our Justice and vote the DAP for our Dayaks future.
My observation on why rural folks STILL vote for BN though the latter seldom fulfill their promises.
1. Iban culture living in the longhouse. The longhouses itself become the hindrance factors for iban to make changes, to make progress like other races and very hard to control the social ills.
Why?
A. BN YBs bribed & brainwashed the TRs who in turn forced the anembiaks to vote for BN, if not the TR will chase & force or threaten the anembiak to vacate his bilik.
B. The MRP- BN made it as carrots & sticks
C. TR allowance- TRs are indebted to BN. That allowance is abused by TRs and treated as a reward from BN to stop opposition campaign in the longhouses.
D. The mee segera in the forms of beers, caps, t-shirt, pigs, BN posters etc. From time to time the rural folks were reminded (by opposition) to take all those mee segera but vote for opposition. Come election that reminder gone into one ear and came out from another ear. The folks STILL vote for dangling carrots unless they have personal issue with BN (land grab, direct victimization).
E. Counting of votes at respective polling centers. This was suggested by ex-PBDS committee & implemented in the following SE and now adopted throughout Malaysia- to prevent votes rigging & quick tally of the votes. The new system has many advantages & disadvantages to opposition & the voters. The folks may worry of victimization by BN if the former swing their votes. But if all folks cooperate and unite NOT to vote for BN and all BN candidates lose the election what can BN do, it is game over?
Unless the opposition have better strategies to tackle the above issues it s never easy to convince the rural folks to UBAH.
Iban Militant on February 28th, 2012 11:28 pm
……………………………………………
I must admit that I have to agree with your observation concerning the continuous support from rural folks for the BN government.
Yeah, it is true indeed to say that our TRs are the most easily manipulated community leaders by the BN government. The weakest link is lying here.
Therefore, we would expect the rural voters to continue supporting the BN for a long time until all our TRs are literate enough to rely on their own, without being influenced by any political elements, especially the the BN political party.
It is our effort to inform them of this manipulation!
Cheers…

2. TR selfish mentality. Educated or not they re mostly opportunist. The more educated they re the more crook they become. That s why literate TR doesn’t make any different (to ubah) or could be worst than TR in the olden days.
TR is very influential person in the longhouse. He makes all decisions for his anembiaks. He will take every crumb of mee segera from YBs, some may not declared to his anembiaks.
Some of TRs tried to enrich themselves by surrendering their temuda or pemakai menua to towkays without informing his anembiaks.
Pengulu and Pemanca are no better (free from corruption) than TRs. They could be the facilitators to NCR land grab by BN that s why so many cases of NCR land encroachment by taib & his cronies.
Bn YBs are the evils of all these corruption and cheated their own bansa, robbed the NCR lands of their bansa.
We have to wipe out all BN regiments only then rural folks have better chance to prosper thru new land devt or other businesses or employment.

It’s not only season for lies and more lies.
It is also a season for “Wayang Kulit,” with UMNO as the Tok Dalang.
Muh does’t know the road conditions in Sarawak? Which planet is he from? And the Iban Ministers bodek him left-right-centre. In fact the expenses for their visits can easily pay for the Land Surveying of Tanah Temuda of at least 2 longhouses!! But who wants to survey NCR land when bodek Muh is more lucrative?
My longhouse has no water. People complained about muddy rivers (timber logging lah). Before the last ADUN, a few big machines chopped of a tall hill, and a few piles of pipes were brought there. Hah, I thought, at last clean water to drink. But 2 days ago, I saw a few trucks carried those pipes away!!
I don’t know how Kapit people can support the Dam, but they do. Maybe they’ve forgotten the wayang kulit road connecting Kapit to Kanowit. Before the last ADUN election, PM approved RM70 million on his visit. But that is Dayak people lah, fooled and bluffed, yet still think B-End is good to them.
In my village, some people can’t get BR1M 500. Some people can. Reason: some are not BN, some are BN. Of course that is little Napoleons in operation. Huh, mau cherita lagi pun sudah bosan. But that is the reality of this B-End and its wayang kulit.
I’m wondering, who really make empty promise? Is it Swk BN State Govt. or is it BN Federal Govt.? Federal Govt. announce and allocate billion and billion of ringgit to Swk state govt. to develop infrastructure in Swk but where are the money? Are Swk BN Ybs take that money for themselves??? And then all swkian blame Federal for being not fair to state of Swk in budget allocation. Or maybe it is true that Federal govt never give a damm for Sabah and Swk since 1963.
“The Barisan Nasional government, if given the mandate, pledges to solve the state’s woes related to clean water supply, people’s estates, infrastructure facilities and housing,” he said to applause from about 20,000 people at a gathering at the Jeli campus of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan, here.

Somebody told me thta Masing is now DCM or acting like one. HOw true is this?
I m very happy if Masing gets more business contracts in petroleum companies, getting more APs from UMNO, more tenders to build roads, schools, clinics, getting business ventures with partners in sjung & overseas. This he should do & I salute him if that can create job opportunities for Sarawakians. And I wish him to go up his ambition to be the CM one day.
But never act as NCR land ROBBER or a thief and cheat the longhouse folks to surrender their lands to companies where he (Masing) can ask for kickbacks (RMmillions) to enrich himself & cronies. We never support this type of leader! Fcuk me.
Now the Genera Election is around the corner, the BN start to tell the represent MP from Sarawak to tell lies to the peoples of Sarawak. Mostly the chinese areas and the dayaks areas, we want these to stop and do not telling the lies to the peoples. The BN is doing their empty promise, their promise is the time election is coming after the general election you cannot see their promise. When the time you ask them about what their promise is they start to tell you everything is not that easy because the government not yet approved everything. so,you see here they will tell you that and these to closed their story. How many Hundred Billion they the BN promise to the peoples of Sarawak, every time election they promise about the Billion Ringgit, until today where is the money. Now the general election is very near what promise should they tell the peoples of Sarawak. maybe they the BN see what happen in the chinese areas in the last state election most of the chinese areas are under the DAP. We want the chinese peoples in sarawak do not be easy to be buying by the BN,maintain your position in the DAP.
