Dayak helpless mentality leads to Dayak failure.
Written by Dr. John Brian Anthony
Racialist
The UMNO Malay are using the term bumiputera to gain business quota. The UMNO Malay could not even care less that the term bumiputera includes the natives of Sabah and Sarawak. Why should they malaya Malay care?
The Dayak politicians are participating in BN and the Dayak voted for BN because BN has drilled into the Dayak that BN would bring progress to Dayak. We all know that till today such promise has not been met by BN.
The Dayak YBs has been bribed and bought by Ketuanan Melayu. The Malay has NO feeling what so ever over the lack of development for the Dayak both physical and mental. The lack of education among Dayak is not helping out to hasten the change. By the time the Dayak realize what is going on Dayak would have been the poorest community in Malaysia.
The Dayak YBs felt that they are doing their best
What is their best – do anyone of you know it. In Sarawak if the Dayak do not participate in forming he government that government would have no standing. Some dayak YBs choose to be bought and get rich rather then to stand for Dayak rights. Are we running the Dayak leaders down? In a way we are because they have not shown any effectiveness in improving the livelihood of the Dayak within SARAWAK.
Hey, why blame the YB. The YB are frustrated with Dayak who cannot even pull themselves together and be able to initiate small things to help themselves. Why bother with “monkey” Dayak – it is better to get rich personally through political position and connection. Let the Dayak with helpless mentality be where they are as they choose to be. Read more

BN YB lost their freedom for thought and hiding behind unjust law
Written by Maramat Tajak
I still remember my immediate thought when I read this article ( Dr. Rundi and the NCR definition) in Sarawak Update.
Dr Rundi seems like a decent chap. I won’t want to pass judgement prematurely about his character.
Rundi is fundamentally wrong
But in the case of his statement on the difference between Temudak and NCR land, I think he is more than fundamentally wrong: he exhibited the same mental affliction that affect even the seemingly brightest young Dayak.
Many YBs and even those who call themselves educated Dayak, with doctorate degrees no less, often refer to the law, as if its the final arbiter of all debates.
In the court of law, yes – the law is the only means by which disputes can be settled.A judge would pass judgement in accordance with the reading of the law.If the law says anyone who get caught stealing will have his hands cut off, the judge will have other interpretation but would pass judgement according to the letter.
The law is not justice. Read more

Dr. Rundi – What is NCR land?
Taken from Sarawak Update (by Mark Bujang)
Dr. Rundi is confused with the definition of NCR land
The Sarawak Update carried a story on January 24, 2010 where the writer of article quoted Dr. Stephen Rundi, Sarawak Assistant Minister for Public Health and also the elected state legislator for Kemena, reminding landowners to verify that they have rights to the land before making any claims to the government.
He warned the landowners not to use the opposition parties or vent their frustrations through blogs and cyber media to assert their “rights”.
He also blamed the landowners or people who inherited the lands they currently occupy for not knowing the difference between native customary rights land, native customary rights (NCR) and temuda land. Read more

Ketuanan Melayu and Dayak
Written by Dr. John Brian Anthony
You may find the below negative – but a spade is a spade. How else can you call it by?
What is the Federal Public Service Commision role?
This is the organization that interview candidates to joined the Admin and Foreign Service Dept (PTD) and the rest of the Federal department.
This PTD employee formed almost 90% of the top Civil Service position in the country. Therefor entry into PTD is ALL important and a must try for those in the other civil service department.
Since its formation – NO Dayaks has been appointed as a Board member of Federal Public Service Commission. That explained why “recruitment” into the Federal Service from Sabah and sarawak is very low. Maybe – we can understand better where the “ketuanan Melayu” is coming from. Read more

Konsep Baru’ of the NCR land development by Sarawak State Government
Article by IDEAL
Dayakbaru: This article will help you understand the early struggle of Dayak to keeptheir land. This struggle stillcontinue and we must choose the ballot boxes to provide the solution.
Land Disputes with government
The disputes of NCR (native customary right) land between the indigenous people of Sarawak and the various state development agencies has been going on since earlier this century when other settlers landed.
It became more noticeable in the 60s when logging first started in swamp forest and the dispute accelerated in the mid 70s when the logging industry moved upstream. The conflicts intensified lately when new legislation encouraged developers to open up further NCR land in the name of development.
Introduction of NCR Land Development Scheme – “Konsep Baru”
Since the second half of 1995, The Sarawak state government has introduced a NCR land development scheme called ‘Konsep Baru’, or literally translated as ‘New Concept’.
In this scheme, all NCR lands in an area would be amalgamated into one large block deleting existing boundaries and only ONE land title is to be issued. Read more

Racial discrimination in Malaysia – What 1 Malaysia?
Taken from Australian Newspaper
This list is a common knowledge to a lot of Malaysians, especially those non-Malays (Chinese, Ibans, Kadazans, Orang Asli, Tamils, etc.) who have been racially discriminated against..
Dayakbaru: “Make a mental comparison of where standing could be in this list”.
Figures in this list are merely estimates, so please take it as a guide only.
The government of Malaysia has the most correct figures. Is government of Malaysia too ashamed to publish their racist acts by publishing racial statistics?
This list covers a period of about 48 years since independence (1957).

Is it wrong for Dayak to discuss Dayak issues?
Written by Dr. John Brian Anthony
Introduction
The main reason why I started this Dayakbaru blog is encourage Dayak to discuss about the community problems, issues and possible solution. As a discussion platform it should remain to be so allowing different views to be shared.
Instead of being a source of “news” this blog should be a source of “opinions and thoughts” and thus the articles are a gentle mix of a variety of topics. Opinion and thoughts could be categorized into many main topics and therefor should not attract the feeling of “we are different” and therefor we cannot be together.
If that is the perception than this blog is more “dividing” than “uniting” the Dayak. The UNITY OF PURPOSE is the key principle that guide this blog.
It is therefor my wish that we do not create enemy of one another but treat each Dayakbaru with respect. Instead of being confrontational in our argument we should stay focus on the intent, meaning and reality of the topic being discussed.
Below is a synopsis of a part of the approach Dayakbaru took in discussing issues in this blog. As it is my personal reflection, the intent is purely academic. Read more

Sabah and Sarawak did not JOIN Malaysia, they formed Malaysia with Malaya and Singapore
Posted by: Dayak Undead
SABAH AND SARAWAK DID NOT JOIN MALAYSIA -they formed MALAYSIA with Malaya and Singapore
Malaysia was formed on Sept 16th 1963
When Sabah and Sarawak teamed up with Malaya and Singapore to form Malaysia (yes, that’s right, Sabah and Sarawak did not JOIN Malaysia) it was with certain terms and conditions attached. Some may have heard of the 20-point agreement but not many may have actually read it. I suppose the same goes for the Merdeka agreement prior to independence in August 1957 or the ‘Social Contract’ that binds the very delicate fabric of Malaysian society.
What do all these words and phrases mean?
This is probably the trouble with most Malaysians. They know certain words or phrases. They throw these words and phrases around. But not many know the concept behind these words or phrases. We have had the Look East Policy, the Buy British Last policy, Malaysia Incorporated, 1Malaysia, the New Economic Policy, Ketuanan Melayu, the ‘Social Contract’, and what not. We have all heard of them. But what do they all mean? Read more

The Prime Minister was misinformed on NCR land
Taken from http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/106788 (The Broken Shield – Jetty)
The Sarawak government has been accused of deliberately misinforming the prime minister on the row over native customary rights (NCR) in the state.
“I am sure the prime minister has been ill-informed on the true situation of NCR land issues,” said Sarawak National Party’s Stanley Jugol in responding to a statement made by Najib Abdul Razak on the issue.
Najib, who was on a two-day visit to Sarawak, had assured the Ibans in Lubok Antu that the government would not snatch their land away.
“We have no intention of grabbing anybody’s land. The Ibans should not worry. The BN government will not take away your property,” he had told a huge gathering in Nanga San, Lubok Antu, about 250km from state capital Kuching. Read more

Taken from: MalaysiaKini Tony Thien (Jun 19)
Minister’s statement
A Sarawak senior minister has said that all land that has not been surveyed and issued with titles, including land under native customary rights (NCR) claim, is state or government land.
“The state government will only recognize a right or claim to government land if it was created in line with the relevant written laws of the state government, including laws and the Royal Order brought into effect before January 1, 1958,” state Second Minister of Resource Planning and Management Awang Tengah Ali Hassan told the state legislative assembly last Friday. I took this article from unestablished source – to ease the mind of Dayakbaru who has been engaged in understanding and discussing a few difficult and sensitive topic. This article is for your refresher to knowledge.
Money has no memory. Experience has.
You will never know what the total cost of your education was, but for a lifetime you will recall and relive the memories of schools and colleges. Few years from now, you will forget the amount you paid to settle the hospitalization bill, but will ever cherish having saved your mother’s life or the life you get to live with the just born. Who are these Bumiputras??
Written by: Melayu
We are all immigrants squatting in this country. Only the Negrito, Jekun, Semang, Jahut, Orang Laut, Orang Darat, Senoi, and other indigenous people groups (like the Kadazandusuns, ibans and bidayuhs) can be correctly considered the original inhabitants of this country.
I salute my former colleague Syed Imran….
I got this from a friend and decided to resend it as it explains in great detail what a Malayu really is. It is time we stopped those who corrupt the original meaning in order to use it to divide Malaysian. Read more
