Taib – what did you do with the missing billions of ringgit
By FMT Staff
Dayakbaru:
No wonder the Sarawak Members of Dewan Undangan Negeri sarawak cannot protest against Taib wrong doing. Taib has the bait (money) to keep them in silence mode.
Little wonder too the YBs are talking from nonsense down to be silly, the money power is clouding and crowding their brain. Why don’t the YBs try live a simple straight forward life. Serve the people who elect you and make good laws for Sarawak.
Politics is not about how money you can make out of your position, it is a platform to progress the people through people’s participation in determining what is best for them.
Change WE Must. Taib makes Sarawak poor, kick him and his PBB people out. Read more

Rural Agricultural Stations
Written by: Dr.John Brian Anthony
Government Neglect the Rural Agricultural Station for the last 10 years
I am sure the Government would not be bothered to study the impact of making the Rural Agricultural Station inactive for about 10 years. I remember the Sg. Sebiew Agriculture station in Bintulu (Km11) was a key player to generate skill and knowledgeable farmer. A lot of money was used to train farmers and introducing new farming programs and technique in the mid-90′s.
Suddenly, everything die down and the agricultural station was left to near rotting. It was an eye sore and demoralising to the farmers who has depended on the station as training centres.
Can Jabu answer that question first, why did the Government abandon the Rural Agricultural Station (RAS) in the first place?
My guess is the government was so excited by the large oil palm plantation and leaving the RAS to waste is one of the government strategy to ensure that the Sarawak farmers do not expand their farming land and therefore is not develop. If the land is not develop then the Government can rob it and sell it to foreign companies and even the YBs and their cronies. Afterall, Awang Tanah has said that land without land title is government land and the government is well known for taking NCR land and sell to plantation investors.
Secondly, is the government strategy of shutting down most of the RAS an effort to force Sarawak rural farmers to become plantation labourer earning RM$12 a day. Read more

NCL Perimeter Survey
Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony
Announcement
It is a step forward when YB Douglas Uggah announced that the RM$20 million allocated for NCL perimeter survey has been received by the State Government on August 17th. We very Sarawakian will expect that something is done on a positive note about NCL.
Formation of cabinet committee to look after the Dayaks of Sarawak Sabah
It was announced recently that a Cabinet Committee has been formed to look after the development “gap” of Dayaks in Sabah and Sarawak comprising Douglas Uggah, Bernard Dompok, Shafie and Anifah Aman. It is the right direction to take as long as these leaders are really sincere in their effort. Sincerity in this context mean that implementation must be “inclusive” of all NCL owners.
When Tan Sri Jabu put out such criteria as “matured NCR”, that sound crappy and it has a dishonest connotation even he means well.
What is the plan?
We Sarawakian have always been left in the dark over many programs that is being implemented by the Government. If you disagree with my observation, let us start with this NCL survey implementation. This program attracts very high public interest and we would be disappointed if the Government is less the transparent with their plan and area of priorities. The Sarawak population deserve to be told in order to witness a real progress with a step forward for NCL land owners.
What do we want to know?
We want to know what is the average cost of doing an NCL perimeter survey per hectares. This will give us a good perception of how much we needed to make an impact with program in Sarawak. Information like this will clear our doubt over the sincerity of the government in solving the NCL problem. It is better then blaming OPPOSITION and BLOGGERS for not supporting the Government over a good program.
We want more details which rather then prescribing our expectation we leave it to the implementation agency to fill us up. It is a duty of the CIVIL SERVICE to keep the public informed of their activities and progress and treat the public as their number ONE customer.
Conclusion
We will later decide whether the program has been implemented satisfactorily with efficiency and urgency.
Change WE Must. The Government is responsible to keep us inform of what and how the RM$20 million is spend.

Ketegangan antara kerajaan negeri Sarawak dengan Putra Jaya kerana BAKUN
Taken from: Malaysiakini

Read more

Will MACC’s Abu Kassim walk the talk over Taib’s billions
Taken from: Malaysia Today (By FMT Staff)
Dayakbaru:
MACC has a standard operating procedure that they must complete an investigation over a report within 6 months. MACC asked the Malaysian people to trust them, to give them the chance to produce result. Of course we knew that MACC has been given many chances and they have made a “fool” of themselves for allowing outsiders to tamper with their work.
Now, the very Sarawak people are looking towards MACC to investigate Taib. It is not about whether the task is easy or not as MACC has promised to investigate all reports. If nothing come out of the report on Taib’s wealth, we should not waste public money to pay the salaries of MACC staffs and also their assets. There are stillmany poor people that would benefit from the money that we are spending with MACC.
MACC roars at opposition and whimper and cry in fright of the Government. MACC do not let us Malaysian public look down upon your work, value system and principles. Stand up and just do what you are paid to do.
We are not hoping for MACC to investigate Taib, we demand that Taib must be investigated for taking away so much money from Sarawak through his position as Thief minister.

Where is the EIA for Baram Dam – Baram folks want to know.
Taken from: Bintulu.Org
Dayakbaru:
Even the business of writing EIA is controlled by the BN. Most of the EIA is done by Chemsain that is link to a Deputy Chief Minister. That is how business is done in Sarawak. Everything is being passed around within the ruling party.
Baram natives demanded to know what is inside the EIA
Native communities directly affected the proposed Baram dams demanded to be given opportunity to review the various reports, documents pertaining the dams before any works can be started.
In a press release on Wednesday, Borneo Resources Institute (Brimas) said, Baram native communities and concerned citizens had sent a letter to the Controller of the Sarawak Natural Resources and Environmental Board (NREB) for copies of the various reports for review.
The letter which was signed by the representatives of the natives communities requested the authorities to give them opportunity and time to verify, study, comments, objects to the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Social Environmental Impact Assessment and other related reports before the works on the proposed dam can start.
The letter said the natives objected to commencement of any works on the dam including construction of access roads and also the extinguishment of their native customary rights (NCR) lands pending scrutinization of all the reports. Read more

What has happened to the Prime Minister’s promised to Sarawak?
Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony
It is true to say that probably Prime Minister Najib has visited Sarawak the most time since taking office. Please note that Najib has not lead BN into a General Election yet. He therefore has no result to claim for his GENERAL ELECTION performance. Najib however has introduced many “slogan” and not the least is 1 Malaysia.
Why is Sarawak important to Najib?
BN is not doing well in Malaya. BN component parties are struggling to keep their organization from splitting up. Even Najib is struggling to keep UMNO together. The political dynamics of the 21st century ensure that no Government can take their voters for granted anymore. Najib must have enough MP seats from Sarawak to keep BN in Putra Jaya. Najib is doing just that now.
In order to get the Sarawak MP seats to support him, Najib must ensure that Sarawak BN must win their coming election with a big majority. Now that is a problem because Pakatan Rakyat is not just another political platform. PR is ruling Selangor, Penang, Kedah, Kelantan and has Perak taken from them through the turncoat – PKR frogs to become friendly independent YB. Pakatan Rakyat will contest ALL the 71 DUN Sarawak seats and may just win the right to rule Sarawak with a simple majority.
When that happen, Najib can kiss Putra Jaya goodbye. Read more

Tan Sri Jabu is doing a bad job – Sharizat is taking over his role
Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony
A real shame for Jabu
I was shocked when I read the part where Sharizat will make a report to the Prime Minister on the well-being and welfare of the rural Dayak Penan, Dayak Orang Ulu that has not been managed well by Sarawak Government. Jabu is the Minister with the function to look after the welfare and the development of the rural population. Jabu has done almost nothing except for “releasing” anak ikan into the rivers. At least Sharizat came out with a quick reaction by suggesting to increase the numbers of welfare officers working in rural areas.

Rural Development in sarawak is too slow
Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony
Source: Bernama news
Rural Roads:
Shafie also said that up to yesterday (26th May 2010), a total of 407.91km of rural roads had been constructed nationwide, of which
- 248.01km were in the peninsula,
- 154.7km in Sabah and
- 5.2km in Sarawak,
while work was going on to provide 344.02km of road.
My questions are two fold. (1) So much talk on developing rural Sarawak, is 5.2km a good performance delivered by Rural Ministry in Sarawak. Federal Government depended on Sarawak rural vote (seat) to keep them in power. why are we in Sarawak given progress that is snail pace? (2) What is the balance of road that is going to be built in Sarawak for 2010? What happen to the current bad raod: Ulu Sebauh Road, Lapok Road etc will these road be tarred surface?
Rural roads mean opening up rural economy and reduce the cost of goods that come in and increase profit for the farmer when they sell their goods. To me 5.2km of road for rural Sarawak is NOT ACCEPTABLE.
Water Supply:
Also, as of yesterday, 6,576 houses had been supplied with water supply, of which:
- 397 were in Perak,
- 421 in Selangor,
- 66 in Pahang,
- 5,396 in Sabah and
- 296 in Sarawak,
while supply to 63,605 more houses were under implementation.
Again, do you see what I see. Selangor and Perak are 100% more develop then Sarawak, and they get more water supply. Of course, the numbers for Sabah is very high and I wonder why it seems the Government is pressing the panic button in Sabah.
Electricity supply
As for electricity supply, he said, 599 houses had been provided the facility, comprising 84 houses in the peninsula, 453 in Sabah and 62 in Sarawak.
We all see the numbers for Sarawak – it is always on the lowest side. If I ask you to vote the today and you have a choice between Pakatan Rakyat and BN, who would you vote.
Conclusion
I may not know the capability of Pakatan Rakyat but I will have no hesitation in giving Pakatan Rakyat a chance to solve Sarawak problems. Today’s Government is not doing much for Sarawak, why should I continue to vote for BN? I would chose a team that i do not know rather then a Government that I know is not capable of delivering.
By the way, this Shafie Apdal’s speech was read by Joseph Entulu on his behalf. I would not have been able to read such a speech because it make me so disappointed with what that has not been done for Sarawak.
Change WE Must. It is now facts that Sarawak always is at the bottom rung of Federal Government priorities.

Najib in trouble over Sibu “do we have a deal” approach.
Taken from: The Malaysian Insider
By G. Manimaran and Neville Spykerman
May 20, 2010
EC passing their responsibility to MACC
The Election Commission claimed it had no power to probe allegations Datuk Seri Najib Razak had committed an election offence during the Sibu by-election with his pitch to solve flash floods there if Barisan Nasional retained the Parliamentary seat.
Instead, the Election Commission (EC) told DAP chairman Karpal Singh to take his complaint against the prime minister to the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC).
“We can still take the complaint but will refer it to the MACC,” said EC deputy chairman Datuk Wira Wan Ahmad Wan Omar, adding they had no authority to investigate the alleged “promise” made by Najib, in his capacity as PM and finance minister.
The veteran lawyer has said Najib’s last-minute pitch on the eve of the by-election, when he announced an allocation of RM5 million for flood-mitigation projects in Rejang Park, was an election offence.

More scholarships, Federal job for Sarawakian
Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony
Is it really going to happen
After having blog on the issues of federal scholarship and jobs for Sarawakian, it is timely for YB Uggah to response to the issue. The formation of a Cabinet committee to oversee this development is nice to hear but how do we get toknow the proges and result at a later date?
Talk is sweet as you can say all the nice things so that people will agree with you. Even if this happen after 47 years of forming Malaysia, it is better late then never.

Special Fund for development projects in Sabah, Sarawak.
Written by: Dr. John Brian Anthony
Borneo Post:
“The Federal Government has agreed to set aside special fund to implement all development in Sabah Sarawak.
Prime Minister stated his agreement to the fund when chairing the first meeting of Cabinet Committee on Sabah and Sarawak bumiputeras yesterday. The total allocation will be determined later.
The meeting discussed programmes for the bumiputeras in both the states. The committee coordinates, monitors and evaluates the policies and implementation strategies of development projects for the bumiputeras of both states.
The committee also had the mandate to identify and resolve issues regarding policies and government machineries in both states”.
Special Fund
The Federal Ministers has been announcing so many allocation Sarawak, immediately after March 2008 election as Sabah and Sarawak help the UMNO lead the Federal Government in Kuala Lumpur. I wonder whether such announcement is made even before thought is given on how to deliver the goods. Hisham, Apdal, M.Yassin and even Najib has been throwing BIG figures for Sabah Sarawak development. It sound unreal most of the time.
