Malaysia is made up of 3 countries as equal partner

Written by Dr. John Brian Anthony

There is no 13 States in Malaysia

There are 11 Federated Malay States in Malaya. Sabah and Sarawak are NOT  in the same category of Malacca, Johore, Selangor etc. Sabah and Sabah are independent countries before forming Malaysia.

Who says that there was no agreement when Malaysia was formed? Do you really think that Sabah and Sarawak are so silly so as to form Malaysia without an agreement. Most people in Malaya ( i will not refer to Malaya as West Malaysia anymore from now on) were told lies in school and wrong facts of history to create the impression that Sabah and Sarawak are of the same status as the Malay State. Malay dominance in the civil service should remain unchanged and unchallenged

Taken from The Malaysian Insider

** Dr Lim Teck Ghee is director, Center for Policy Initiatives, and Tan Sri Ramon Navaratnam is former president, Transparency International Malaysia.

The article “Emphasis on raising standards” by Shagul (The Star, Jan 30) seems to be aimed at ensuring that the situation of Malay dominance in the civil service should remain unchanged and unchallenged.

Dayakbaru:

This clearly shows that the Malay in Malaya has no intention to bring multi-racial civil service. Is that we Sabah and sarawak people expected by joining Malaysia? The answer is NO. We know that we must never talk about being separated from Malaysia and be independent country of our own. With just an analysis by the Director General of the Civil Service, we should not be blame for thinking that we Sabah and Sarawak should consider leaving Malaysia all together. We formed Malaysia with a dream of equality and progress. Why are we made ” second class” citizen to Malay of Malaya. Read more

Malaysia – a democracy existing in name only

Taken from the Malaysian Insider (By Debra Chong)

Dayakbaru:

I am not surprise that Tengku Razaleigh called Malaysia a democracy in name only. Before reaching such a conclusion Tengku would have enough evidence to support his statement. Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah (TRH) is a well known Malay intellectual and has participated in governing Malaysia and is still with the government. His statement should not be taken in a negative light but serve to remind us Malaysian of the truth today.

Oil producer are poor

Sabah, Sarawak, Trengganu, and Kelantan are poor despite being oil producers. The Federal government suck up so much money and wasted in in many failed projects. The money are lost through the government incompetencies in planning and executing projects and corrupted practices in awarding the contracts. Not enough allocation are given to infra-structure projects and much money are spent on “white elephants” and non productive government program eg 1 Malaysia today, the Monsoon Cup, . Read more

William Nyalau – Tuai Rumah MUST support BN

Written by Dr. John Brian Anthony

The Honourable YB William Nyalau brilliant thesis on Tuai Rumah.

About two weeks ago the handsome MP from Lubok Antu – William Nyalau said that Tuai Rumah are part of the  government service – in fact TR are government servant according to his brilliant reasoning because TR are given a monthly allowance of $450.00. In fact, the State government contribute $50.00 and the Federal Government gave $400.00. With such reasoning the honourable Member of Parliament made it clear to all Tuai Rumah that they must support BN / government because they are beholden to their pay master – the government.

Is a Tuai Rumah a Government Servant?

The answer is NO! He does not enter into an employment contract with the Civil Service and is not bounded by the General Order. A Tuai Rumah also do not enjoy the benefits accorded to a government servant and the Tuai Rumah are not “graded” as required by every position in the civil service.

Of course the Honourable YB may has his argument – to me he is just adding more confusion to the responsibility of being a Tuai Rumah. It is the lowest possible category class of politicking.  I do hope the DUN member for Batang Ai can educate the MP on the matter. Read more

Sabah 20 points / Sarawak 18 points agreement

Written by Dr. John Brian Anthony

For further information in regards to the related article, kindly refer to Wikipedia.

Dayakbaru:

The 20 point agreement / 18 point agreement is between made between TWO countries ( Malaya and Sabah / Malaya and Sarawak).

Such being the case, no changes can be made on the agreement without the consent of the other. In the case, they seemed to be effort by the Federal Government to put aside this agreement or even ignore this agreement as it gets their way of integrating Sabah and sarawak according to West malaysia UMNO point of views and political agenda.

Sabah and sarawak must NEVER give up on this agreement as it provides us with more autonomy. The founding fathers has the foresight to see the greed of West Malaysian and sadly for Sabah since UMNO has come in and rule Sabah it has lost most of its autonomy. sarawak should continue to fight to uphold the 18 points agreement. While working with PKR those leaders from sarawak MUST insist that Pakatan Rakyat respect and enforce the 18 point agreement when they do come into power. Read more

Four reasons for the “Allah” Court Decision

Taken from: The Malaysian Insider

By Debra Chong

The 4 reasons are:

It is illegal, unconstitutional, irrational and failed to satisfy that it was a threat to national security.

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 17 —  High Court judge Datuk Lau Bee Lan’s controversial ‘Allah’ ruling that rocked the nation over who had rights to the term cited that the Home Minister and government’s actions had been illegal, unconstitutional, irrational and had failed to satisfy that it was a threat to national security.

Conflict between Federal Constitution and various state enactments

She also wrote about the apparent conflict in the matter between the Federal Constitution and the various state enactments apart from claims by Muslim groups that the matter cannot be taken to a civil court.

The judge released the written grounds of her Dec 31 judgment late on Friday while the increasingly acrimonious public debate over who has the right to use the word “Allah” continues to rage on.

The Malaysian Insider obtained a copy of her 57-page judgment where the judge lays out the reasons and the laws behind her oral pronouncement. Read more

Taken from Malaysia Today

By Raja Petra Kamarudin

Lodging a Report with MACC

On 3 December 2009, Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, the Parti Keadilan Rakyat Youth Leader, lodged a report at the MACC headquarters in Putrajaya asking them to investigate private investigator P. Balasubramaniam’s latest revelation implicating Prime Minister Najib Tun Razak’s family in covering up the murder of Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu. In response to this report, the MACC asked Shamsul to help locate Bala and to make him available for questioning.

Kuala Lumpur has total disregard for the native ethnics of sarawak and Sabah.

Posted by The Point of View

Central Rule by Kuala Lumpur

Yes Tunku Aziz, indeed there is a heightened sense of the distorted approach adopted not just by the central rule in Kuala Lumpur, but the messages behind it. So it is wise counsel to acknowledge that Sarawak and Sabah, two distinct countries, were signatories to an international treaty, that created Malaysia. But this is just footnote in history, and there are a range of issues that need to be considered, because “confering” equality, is not exactly the right word to use here.

Sarawak / Sabah and Malaya was never created equal

There was never a case of equals when the Independent Federation of Malaya, the independent country of Sarawak, the Crown colonies of British North Borneo and Singapore, signed what eventually became a tripartite agreement, a few years later. The level of economic progress attained by those wealthier Malay States on Malaya, was at the expense of our generosity, Sarawakian generosity in abundance that was enough to drive that economic progress in Malaya. Sulaiman Taib Quit as Deputy Minister

Taken from The Malaysian Insider

Dayakbaru:

This is an interesting development as a Civil Servant friend of mind relate to me a speech given by Taib recently when addressing a civil service function. Interestingly the speech is about a hour long and reading in between the line of what Taib said it is no less than indicating that he wanted his son to be the Chief Minister of Sarawak. What remain to be solved is the timing.

Timing

Will his son Sulaiman take over immediately after he steps down or will there be a “care taker” in the interim. As Sulaiman is not a member of Dewan Undangan Negeri, that may be addressed in the coming State election to allow for Sulaiman to be elected as one and also retain his MP seat.

Election Commission

About two weeks ago the Election Commission meet Taib at his office. Eventhough this is a normal duty related visit it is not usual for Election Commission to come down and meet any MB or CM. That left us with many things to guess. Read more

Kaki Dalam Kasut – Tun Mahathir

Posted by Bryant

Foreign writer Bryant’s comments on Mahathir’s article : Kaki dalam Kasut where he says Chinese is the real master of Malaysia . This is a rational article written by a foreign observer in Malaysia.

The highly respected Tun,

WE NEED TO WORK TOGETHER

China is coming up, India is coming up, Vietnam is coming up and now even Russia is on the rise. In this flat world that is all wired up and regardless whether we are Malaysian Malay, Chinese or Indian, and if Malaysia does not progress, all of us would become history of this country! Without the Malay, Chinese could not do well in the country and without the Chinese, Malay would not do well. Both have to work together to bring up Malaysia and mitigate the ascute impact that is being brought about by the globalisation.

For me, a true leader is someone who has the foresight that not only focus on one particular group in the country but take care of the future of everyone. A good leader is someone who know what is the biggest threat the country is facing and direct the people to fight off the threat.

A leader is also someone who is impartial that has the ability to promote harmony in the country for a long period of time. Read more

A Historian’s View of Sarawak helping to form Malaysia

First Visit to Kuching

WHEN I first arrived at Kuching airport in May 1983, I was ushered into the row for foreigners at the immigration checkpoint where my Malaysian passport was examined and stamped “Social Visit”, with an expiry date. I felt like an “alien” despite knowing full well that Sarawak was part of the Federation of Malaysia. My feelings of alienness were, however, short-lived, quickly overcome by the friendliness and warmth of the locals I encountered. Read more
